No One's Listening Anymore

Editorial Reviews

Knowledge Magazine. January, 2005.
... a record that will be adored by music lovers now as much as it will be in 20 years.

Product Description
Klute's second album for Breakbeat Science, the follow up to 2002's Lie Cheat & Steal, is his masterpiece. A 2-CD opus, the first disc is ice cold ghost-in-the-machine soul - a cinematic soundscape drawing on many forms and sounding utterly unique and individual. The second disc is comprised of 12 tracks of the widescreen drum and bass sound he is renowned for. With No One's Listening Anymore, Klute may be set to prove his title wrong.

4 out of 5 stars Another winner.......2007-01-09

While a little more mellow than his previous album, Klute brings us another genuinely good double CD. Highly recommended if you are a fan of D&B / jungle on the mellow tip. [aka, this aint Deiselboy or Ram Trilogy!]

4 out of 5 stars Very solid..........2006-09-16

Klute combines dark rhythms with bright melody better than most DnB artists I've heard. If your into artists like Dieselboy, Black Sun Empire and Aphex Twin (the early vinyls), you'll probably like Klute.

Listen to disc 2 first. Disc 1 is an experimental vocal mix and unlike Klute.

My rating is based on DnB in general, not comparing this to his other albums which I have not heard all of.

4 out of 5 stars This act CAN follow 'Lie Cheat & Steal'.......2005-03-15

First of all, don't get confused and angry when you put in disc 1 and hear spacey music that is not drum'n'bass. They pulled the switcheroo on us. The album people care about is DISC 2. So that's why I'm being kind and only rating this one.
That said, this is unmistakenly Klute and the album will likely give you chills. Right away, I recognized the third song, 'Stuck on You' as the best track. If you have bass supplementation in your car or elsewhere (aka, a sub) you'll notice the bass is produced really well on this album, and better, I'd say, than 'Lie, Cheat & Steal'. There are some really good songs on this album. Although I do find the album a little more repetetive than previous stuff, I'm still digesting it and my opinion is likely to change. The "masterpiece" comment on the sticker on the cd may be overstated, but the album is really growing on me and certainly has some big tracks. Don't miss this if you like the more evolved drum'n'bass.

5 out of 5 stars Deep, Dark, and Beautifully Nasty- must be Klute!.......2005-03-07

First off- not quite as great as his last album- Lie Cheat Steal- but then again, LCS is amoung MY top 5 fav albums of all time (any genre). After listening to this album for the past few weeks, I'd say No Ones Listening Anymore is only a notch less than LCS. Perhaps a few more listens will raise it up.

Klute is definetly a master at creating Drum and Bass that is in-between dance hall and bedroom- just like with his last album, Klute creates beautifully melodic tunes that tug at your heart, push your feet, and tickle your brain. He plays with melodies, beats, and vocals like few producers can. The way he chops up beautiful vocals especially, and makes them into a new, dirty, hauntingly good sound- he is a master- try tracks like Acid Rain to hear what I'm talking about. Disgusting.

Surprisingly, the second downtempo album is just as good as the D&B one. I don't ussualy listen to downtempo, but Klute does it on this one, creating another dark, yet beautiful sound, proving his diversity.

The one like Klute has created another monster. He is amoung the best D&B producers, and here he proves it once again. Throw in an excellent down tempo sound, and this one becomes not just a winner, but a potential legend. Get it if you don't got it...period

4 out of 5 stars Yet another superb release from Klute!.......2005-03-03

Right off the bat, I just wanna say that Klute's last album, Lie Cheat & Steal is one of my favorite D & B records. Now, with his new release No One's Listening Anymore, Klute has raised the bar yet again! Disc one has a bit more of a Trip-Hop/Techno feel to it with some outstanding vocals from Moocha, Suont and Kiyomi. Disc two is a melodic Drum & Bass bonanza with so many stand-out tracks, it's hard to narrow it down. Every song is solid from start to finish. If I had to pick one track it would definitely have to be Saviour with it's sad piano and melancholy vocals. ...and the final track, Hidden Hand is a blazzing assualt of drums and synths!!
A tip of the hat goes out to Klute who continues to push the boundries of what electronic/ D & B music can be.
This is a must-have record!!

4 out of 5 stars One of punk's best live sets.......2001-05-30

Let's face facts: punk rock is not a genre for good live albums. There are rare exceptions: MC5's "Jams", Iggy's "Live At the Channel 88", Viletones' "Saturday Night Sunday Morning", boots of the Pistols' Winterland swansong and this CHORDS set. Recorded in 1980 (but not released until 86) this album shows this great Mod band to have been exciting before an audience. In the studio the Chords recalled the Clash crossed with the Jam but live they were faster, looser, cruder & better. Best songs: "something's missing", "happy families", "British way of life", "tumbelling down", and "maybe tommorow" (their best single).
