Nine Inch Nails It Is Not...........2003-10-01
but if that is the only reason you bought this album then of course you could not appreciate it. With the few people I have known who purchased this album they thought it was a great album by Josh Wink aka DJ Wink aka Wink aka...because they were familiar with him before buying it. With Trent Reznor supplying the vocals on one of the tracks, (for the RIAA's sake I wouldn't disclose the title, oh wait, it's black bag) he keeps doing what he does best but unfortunately I think some NIN fans just will not be able to appreciate the music. Buy it anyways and find a great album at your fingertips.

With a penchant for hypnotically rhythmic percussion loops, DJ/producer Josh Wink can rapidly build up a simple theme into a large, intricate event without missing a single beat. On "Back in tha' Day," Wink ignites an electroacoustic free-for-all before snapping the tune back to ground zero. "I'm on Fire's" electric ambience sets the scene for the whisper-pure female vocals of guest Caroline Crawley. Wink is on the cutting edge when it comes to producing modern dance music, and Herehear is a perfect introduction to the future. --Paul Clark

One of the best albums in the genre... ever........2002-07-26
Despite the fact this album isn't as easy to approach as other artists, it is just another example of how brilliant Wink really is. You can come upon this album from several angles, whether you were a Nine Inch Nails fan and wanted something a little less dark, or a Paul Oakenfold fan and wanted something a little harder and a lttle less "fruity", either way... this album is one nutty ride that can't really be compared to anything else. Rather than a DJ slapping together song after song, all running at some BPM around 140... this album truly gives you a variety of songs that can literally change your moods drastically from track to track. Not better or worse than Left above the Clouds... just a different ride.
Still ahead of its time.......2002-03-05
As a fan of Josh's minimal house anthems, I purchsed Hearhear when it first came out in 98. At first I was amazed the variety of geners on display: breakbeat, atmospheric drum and base, ambient and of course, classic Josh Wink house. This album is hard edged like steele and challeges the listner. This is not an easy album, its not a trance trip or an IDM head game. Its just one of the best, doing what he does best. On another note, don't use this to judge all that Josh is capable of. To see him live is to drfit through deep goovy house, slip through some jungle and get pounced by minimalist house. He is one of the best DJ's, period. And one of the nicest guys in the industry. To this day (four years after its release) This album is still a year or two ahead of its time.
So So........1999-11-17
I like the are you there track and the sixth sense track. Never really liked the rest. Too electronic for me.
Go with the beat or else..........1999-10-08
This is not a particularly well-crafted work. There is precious little variety in rhythms and almost no melody to speak of. If that crazy beating rave scene is your cup of tea, you might do OK. Those looking for a challenging collection of electronic music could do much better. Beeps and bass sounds are often so similar that it can seem not only like the tracks were made on the same keyboard but also on the same settings. Reznor adds trademark dissonance but helps only marginally. "Sixth Sense" is the worst "techno" song I have ever heard.
Better in person........1999-05-31
Its a good record. I just bought the LP, but to see him spin at a rave truly defines josh wink. This record is good b/c it pumps out many different styles from drum n bass acid jazz, to techno, to dark trip-hop, you wont soon become too bored. but he's better in person.
