Just too good for words.......2007-05-15
Kaada is one of the greatest composers to live. Don't believe me, then you're dumb.
What can I say?.......2006-01-08
This is some very impressive music, to say the very least. Lucky thing that we in America have Ipecac to rerelease some of Europe's greatest music here in the states, because this is just one of many amazing thing that I have heard from over there that I wouldn't have heard if Ipecac hadn't rereleased it. This is the first Kaada album to be released in the US, and it gave us a great example of how fine of a musician the man is.
The music on here is mostly softer and more relaxing music, with several moments of ambience as well. The vocal duties are shared by many people, both men and women, and most of (if not all) of the lyrics are in English. The music is the main focus for me on here. You get several different genres all blended into one album, there's moments of rock, very old pop, hip hop, and so on. The list can go on forever. All of these genres are blended very well though, that is the main focus for me.
Anyway, like I said earlier, the music is mostly more soothing stuff, but even the faster and more high energy music is soothing in its own right. All of the music has great soul to it as well, only enhancing the experience even more.
All in all, this is a great release from someone who I hope to hear a lot more from in the future. His release with Patton was also something that blew me away, and I'm sure he has plenty of other things that will, but for now, this is something quite amazing in my mind.
a few really cool songs but............2005-04-26
most of this album is either fairly mediocre or really pretty repetive and boring. and I can't say I'd recommend buying it at full price or anything.
Great and entertaining.......2004-12-20
THis is a great cd, and it is in my cd player quite often. I love the mix of the old and new but it aint old news. It is actually refreshing and I cant wait to see what this guy can do in the future. Check out his work with Mike PAtton, "Romances". I wish they would release his other cd Mecd becauseI heard some samples and they are cool. Thank goodness for good musicians, real musicians in the world instead of the same old garbage that comes out, you have to go through a lot of bad to get to the good. And this one is good folks.
Thank You For Giving Me A Wonderful Album.......2004-05-28
I'm a sucker for a well-placed sample in the context of a traditional song, and this album is chock full of 'em. Take for instance "Care", which melds the guitar from a Conway Twitty tune with the vocals from a Juanita Rogers single. When combined with another original male vocal the result is a soaring duet about true love, something which seems to have fallen out of favor in the last twenty years or so. "Black California" closely competes for the best tune crown by combining a "wop-bop-a-loo-bop" sample with some deliciously choppy guitar work. Not all the songs have a lyrical thrust but overall it seems to be slightly more weighty than a typical cut and paste extravaganza. While he seems to favor late-model soul, Kaada effectively mixes many genres while gluing it all together with a modern funk feel. This album was originally released in his home country of Norway several years ago but made it to these shores in 2003.
