Editorial Reviews
THE CUTTING EDGE IN ELECTRONIC AND MODERN ROCK
GITM is often described as having a fresh sound that is distinctive and definitive. They sound like nobody with hints of everybody at the same time.
"Powerful, emotional, unpredictable and engaging - That's just the way we are and write. We have so many influences, we can't even count them. Our music is product of this, so it is multi-dimensional as well. Besides, we believe people can relate better to this because they too are multi-dimensional - everybody likes a change or something different occasionally. Different songs match different moods whenever they occur. Our music reflects our view of the world, our heart and our soul." - Ghost in the Machine on their music.
The original members of Ghost in the Machine, Mike Kern (bass, vocals, programming) and Chris Weerts (guitar, vocals, programming), are both former band members of Hangman, a metal band from the late 80's. The decision to get back together and form an electronica, computer-based band occurred in late 1995. This decision was based on the desire to create music that did not cleanly fit into any genre, but instead fused elements of different musical styles such as Techno, Rock, Industrial, R&B, etc.
Shortly there after, in early 1996, the band name Ghost in the Machine was coined, after seeing it on a movie box, and Ghost in the Machine began taking form. Since then, they have been writing interesting and innovative music.
Their debut EP entitled Ghost in the Machine, released in mid 1998, was a success. It was a major accomplishment for them since it was written, engineered, mixed, mastered and produced exclusively by them. Between 1998 and 2003, several CDs have been released: The Haunting Begins... and Everyone is Dead Maxi-single, Embrace Maxi-single, Rodeo Maxi-single, Lady Love Maxi-single and Second Coming Maxi-single.
In 2002, fellow friend and musician R.J. Thompson was added to the GITM line up on guitars.
Currently, they are working hard promoting 'The Haunting Begins...' and they are in the midst of recording songs for a new CD.
GITM is back and with a new sense of desire, inspired motivation and pure adrenaline. You can hear it in their new music. Contact them at gitm@gitm.
