Cold music from my cold homeland !.......2006-02-13
I think this is really the greatest work that Pan Sonic have made ! 4 cd's of NEW material, no bootlegs, live, demo's or nothing like that ! This is a monumental composed piece of art ! CD 1 is noisy techno which has lot's of industrial and noise influences. On Cd 2 they slow down and the grinding noise is almost gone. Groovy beats and cold sounding synth lines.. CD 3 is really abstract ambient with lot's of Really quiet parts and silence. CD 4 is one hour long ambient composition !! it's really minimalistic but really beautifull. Each CD creates totally different experience ! I think this is a great place to even start listening Pan Sonic. " Kesto " ( means length/strength) introduces all sides of this original group !!

each disc contains variations of a singular sound world. 1: abrasive and menacing slo-mo post-techno. 2: entropic downtempo hovering in zero gravity 3: abstract and concrete sound pranks and scapes 4: drone.
not as diverse and full of ideas as the previous albums, it is still as awe-inspiring as anything these lads have done.
Interesting sound environment - not their best or worst material.......2005-11-11
I happen to like Panasonic/Pan Sonic's music a good deal, but with this album I often felt like I was "waiting for something cool to happen." (FYI: This is also how I feel when I listen to Farmersmanual or K.K. Null.) While it can make for interesting listening within a good sound environment (i.e. when you have good speakers and stereo and they're set up properly), this music tends to be more of background listening for me. That's not to say I totally knock it. I like their boldness of releasing 4 CDs at once (not as much as the Merzbox, but whatever...) and I appreciate that some tracks are dancy minimalist and some are sandpaper-sound-textures (and others....). They make a huge range of emotion within this sub-world of sound. Still, many times I wondered when a cool sound would pop up. To me, this album isn't groundbreaking, and I had high hopes that it would be. If you already dig Pan Sonic, this may be your cup of tea. If you're more of a beginner or intermediate noise/electroacoustic/glitch-tronica/etc listener or often find yourself hitting "next," you may want to try something else. Perhaps the Merzbow "Ikebana" comp on Important Records or the Aaltopiri CD by Pan Sonic or even a sweet disc by The Hafler Trio. And that's my two cents. voodooartist
off the scale.......2005-10-06
frankly, i don't understand how anyone can release so much good material all at once. name me another group to release four discs of new, consistently good music in one box. that some of the tracks are not as strong as others is to be expected, but that shouldn't detract from the fact this is a great album (i have trouble calling it an album, because it is four discs, and usually i associate something like that with collections of hits or rarities or some career-spanning archive--none of which this release is). the depth and range of this release allows for a multitude of moods from which to choose, so if you don't feel like the abrasive tracks you can listen to the moodier ones, or vice versa. or, as has been said elsewhere, you can throw them all in your cd player (or ipod) and play the four discs randomly, thereby creating a crazy mix of quiet and loud, gentle and abrasive tracks to totally disrupt your day. i like that.
What is there to say really?.......2005-02-03
The amount of new music offered here is too much to get down here on this review. Pan Sonic provide excitement, aggrevation, thoughtfulness and chill-out in equal measures. Sometimes the sounds they come up with are like motorbikes racing along at ultra-high speed. Listening to these tracks you just wonder how they can consistently come up with so much stuff. It's a treat for fans either of the band or electro-noise. And with that, I really don't think I can wax lyrical about this album anymore. Not every track here is a winner but.....with the amount of stuff there is, you'll be sure to find something you like if not most of it. That's all I think I can say.
