Album Description
Prepare yourself for a gripping, exhilarating ride when DragonForce release their much-anticipated US debut, 'Inhuman Rampage' on Roadrunner Records. The album's title is an apt summation of a devastating musical journey, an unstoppable force that the six-man group brings forth on tour, leaving devastated cities in its wake. Combining the primal force of Power Metal with hard-earned musical proficiency, influences from band members' various cultural backgrounds and generous quantities of muscular melody in a unique style that they call 'Extreme Power Metal', DragonForce have established themselves as THE premiere international Heavy Metal export. The US version contains an enhanced video of "Through The Fire & Flames".
Album Description
After speeding to international sales over 85,000 in just three months, Dragonforce is poised to dominate the US. This 6-piece power metal band has no comparison. Combining blistering solos with epic choruses the band is ready to change the face of metal. Since forming in London in 1999, Dragonforce has taken UK, European and Japanese audiences by storm. 2003's debut album Valley Of The Damned set the stage and standard for a sound brimming with speed, technicality, catchiness and most importantly a lot of fun. On the heels of their first headlining US tour in May, the buzz on the street is growing and spreading through an infectious word of mouth reaching fans of all genres.

Dragonforce can convert any metalhead!.......2007-07-27
Growing up with the classic metal bands, I never thought I'd like anything other than Metallica and Iron Maiden. Then a friend played the first track on Inhuman Rampage. I was converted into a Dragonforce fan immediately! Li is the guitar god of the new century! And lyrics that speak volumes, like Disturbed. Who knew you could combine message with warp speed head banging - obviously Dragonforce did. And hopefully it's only the beginning!
Video Games + Metal = Dragonforce.......2007-06-22
Man this is really a revolution in power metal sound dragonforce, yeah i've never hear unique sound like this in power metal before, its have a video games sound, its video games from NES and atari era and herman li says yes vid games is one of his inspiration.
Dragonforce is very fast and unique power metal sound.
Dont get this, its not worth it........2007-06-08
If you want a good band, get something by Iron Maiden, Slayer, Slipknot, Trivium, 3 inches of blood, black sabbath, manowar or even kasabian. Anyway if youre die hard, read on.
1. Through the fire and flames: Brilliant introduction and tune. 9/10
2. Revolution Deathsquad: The chorus is awesome, but the rest is ok. 7/10
3. Storming the burning fields: This isnt one of the good tracks. Starts of good but theres little more to it. 6/10
4. Operation ground and pound: Excellent lyrics and singing. 9/10
5. Body Breakdown: Relatively slow, but a good tune. 8/10
6. Cry for Eternity: my favourite on the cd. 10/10
7. The Flame of youth: Didn't manage to get into this track. 6/10
8. Trail of broken hearts: A great way to end the cd, a soft track that concludes the other seven. 9.5/10
I dont suggest this to hardcore metal fans, but it makes a good addition when you have loads of music.
It may be cheesy, but I love it!.......2007-05-30
I do, I love it. I find myself trying to figure out what video game they got a particular melody from and I'm like, "what is that, Mega Man 3?" But, the cheesy part is not the main thing I like about it. It is the over-all vibe that this music carries. The insane speed and terrific melody of it all coupled with the beautifully vague fantasy of the lyrics gives me bouts of joy at times. When I'm in the mood for it, it is the best. I like many different kinds of music and when I'm in the mood for extreme power metal, nothing beats DragonForce.
They should be called StudioForce (or maybe DragonFarce).......2007-05-18
I fell for the hype and bought it. It was cool the 1st time then it was just noise. Very fast noise played well mind you but nothing to remember despite the press their getting. (What ever happen to The Darkness? Weren't THEY supposed to take the world by storm?)
If you go see them in concert you'll see why some call them Studioforce. Not nearly that good live. Very messy. I'll stick to Dream Theater for my speed kick. At least they can reproduce live what they release.

Best DragonForce Album .......2007-05-07
This is the enhanced version of their latest album, there is a bonus track (not found on the original Inhuman Rampage CD) and also comes with a DVD. I personally think this is the best of the 3 albums they had, also It's the fastest and hardest.
I will dare to say it's the best power metal album of all times !

"Rise over shadow mountains blazing with power!".......2007-02-22
Could a band be so fast and furious that it:
1) Breaks through the bounds of space and time?
2) Triggers an atomic chain reaction inside your mind?
3) Causes the listener to grab a sword and charge screaming into battle to smite their enemies?
In the case of Dragonforce and their latest album I give an emphatic yes to all three impossibilities! Never in your life will you find another band that approaches their technical skill and furious sound at such breakneck speeds. You'll swear you can feel the g-forces mercilessly pummeling your body. Now where did I put my claymore...
the singer killed it...........2006-12-31
THE SINGER DESTROYED AN AWESOME BAND OH YEAH AND THE KEY BOARDIST (BOARDER SAME DIFFERINCE) HERMAN LEE AND SAM TOTMAN ARE AWESOME GUITARISTS THE ONLY GOOD PARTS OF THE SONGS IS THE SOLOS WANT A GOOD FLAWLESS BAND BUY METALLICAS ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
Lightspeed limit theory broken apart........2006-11-02
First of, let's be honest: I'm sold to Power Metal in general. I've been listening to this kind of music for very long, in every form and aspect it can take. And let me say something: technically speaking and speed-wise, DragonForce is nothing close to be beaten. The speed in which these guy can deliver powerful melodics is simply astonishing. Dual guitar solos are sent toward your ears with incredible sonic density, every note detached from one another, delivering crystal clear sound of incredible precision. Music wise, DragonForce is absolutely remarkable, in every single of their album.
But I -DO- have a complaint. The repetitive sound they have can get boring at times. Yes, the speed is incredible and after a couple of listening, your only desire is to bang your head on every single wall of your house. Yes, the melody are so stunningly incredible that you want to burn your entire CD collection and your hard drive because nothing come close to "Trough the Fire and Flames" solo. But after a time, you got the impression you already heard the melody...But no, it's another song. Because of the speed they play, the melody sort of all blend together to form an homogenous album...And that's pretty sad.
Also...The lyrics are plain horrible. Please, we know that dragons are flying high, that your flying in the rage of tommorow, that you hold your sword high, your wings are made of darkness, bla bla. That would be the second complaint, and this one adds to the first. Repetitive "epic" singing gets plain boring.
Otherwise, Dragonforce is utterly breathtaking.
One word: Flabbergasting.
Dragonforce an educated musician's opinion.......2006-09-22
I'm not sure who started the comments in this forum but I enjoy everything from classical music to power metal, whatever genre you can think of I probably like it unless of course it's rap because you see I like music and these two things "music" and "rap" have very little in common. I think that Dragonforce is an incredible band and I'm going to give my feed back on them. I just learned of their existence about 3 weeks ago from my cousin who knew that I've been playing guitar for 15 years and counting and also that I love many genre's (from classical, to jazz, to extreme power metal) of music so he suggested them to me. I've been a musician since the age of 12 and am now 30 and have studied various instruments, including voice (I was in 2 different vocal jazz groups for a period of 3 years and took voice lessons for over 6 years) and music. I've taken several college classes on musical theory, which teach nomenclature and classical theory, progressive theory and many more things that take quite some time to understand thoroughly, I even got a minor in music. I have to say that Dragonforce although aimed for the younger audience is by far one of the most talented bands of our time. Although the musical progressions themselves are not that incredible what they do harmony wise is amazing especially at the speed they do it. The technique used in every instrument in the band is tops, few if any people I know can perform with such skill and again I've been playing guitar for 15 years and have associated with great musicians all my life. The singer is extremely talented and the melodic combinations of guitar solos are unrivaled by any other metal band in history and the keyboard is also incredible beyond anything I've heard before (Through the fire and the flames) plus the drummer has to be close to if not the best speed drummer out there. I went to their concert in Salt Lake City Avalon Theater 9/16/06 it sold out and was the best concert I've seen in years. They play better live than their recorded albums. One of the most amazing things to me was watching Herman and Sam reaching around the neck of their guitars in the middle of 16th note rythms and then do tapping (with their left hand now playing backwards) for about ten seconds then reach back around and play the rest of a line. Herman pulls off some of the most amazing sweep picking mixed with artificial harmonics that I've ever seen before. Many people mistake some of Herman's sweep picking to be keyboard because he obtains high pitches that can't be reached on the guitar without certain techniques. Some good examples are "Black Winter Night" at 2:50-2:55 in the song or "Through the Fire and the Flames" at 5:14-5:19 in the song, yes I know it's hard to believe but that's Herman on the guitar that's not keyboard he is so precise that he is actually doing artificial harmonics at the same time he sweeps through 32nd notes. While I was at the concert there was a moment when the audience all stopped moshing and stood in a stupor of thought gazing up at the stage while Herman Li shredded through the most amazing harpegios I've ever heard live in The Valley of the Damned (guitar solo 3 minutes and 23 seconds into the song) for what seemed like 2 minutes there wasn't a sound in the midst of the previous chaos of mosh pits just the sound of Herman slicing through the silence. The truth is that as soon as the drums came back in the 2nd time the moshing started back up almost 2 times as chaotic. Herman Li and Sam Totman both the guitarist's in the band on several occasions during very amazing and difficult harmonized solos appeared to be having conversations and even laughing about each others comments. These guys are definitely beyond good they are incredible and watching them live is the best way one can discover this. These guys make previous speed metal bands look like oldies from the 60's and any true lover of the metal genre's will love them. I still love tons of old hardcore thrash and speed metal bands but these guys have truly earned there own genre (extreme power metal) they have broken a completely new sound that previously has not been rivaled or accomplished. There has been nothing as hardcore as these guys before and they actually sing on key which adds to their level of talent which far excels previous metal bands of this type of sound and the guitarist's even harmonize vocals while playing ridiculous 32nd note rhythms tapping included. It's actually quite cool to be able to sing along to a memorable melody at a thrash metal concert, instead of a low grumble because the vocals are nothing but the sound of a sick dying old guy trying to cough something up. As for me I feel one of Dragonforce' most amazing songs for melodic (keyboard, guitar, and vocals) accomplishments also speed drumming is "Black Winter Night" from the Valley of the Damned album. I say kudos to Dragonforce, what an amazing accomplishment actually deserving a new genre in a day when we had almost already created every genre one could possibly think up. Keep on rockin the free world! Peace.
Super Fast But..........2006-08-15
I heard DragonForce on TV radio and they starkly contrasted with the hardcore shouting bands. So I purchased this CD, and the musicianship blew me away. They really have the technical ability and actually play classic metal, a refreshing change that harkens back to the 80's. To me that is not a bad thing.
However, I've listened to the CD my requisite three times to get a feel of the songs and their playing and like a few others alluded to, the first song is killer but after that, the songs are kind of bland, or maybe just a letdown from the first blast. That is pretty much the whole CD until the last song where they play a ballad. I can't help but like this band yet, like a few other virtuoso speed guitar players, the ultra-fast riffing gets old fast. I would like to hear them play some slower bluesy or even psychedelic jams to see if they can even play slow.
Overall, I'm glad to see them around and wish them the best. They just need to work on better, less bland songs. If you are blown away with guitar pyrotechnics, I recommend these guys. And... if you are sick and tired of repetitious hard-core shouting, their singer is a refreshing change.

Customer Reviews:
A must-have record.......2004-09-30
I bought this EP after hearing Brother Down on the radio and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the tracks are as strong as Brother Down. What works is the spontaneity of the riffs - the songs really move. The songwriting is the strong point, as Roberts channels the best of Jane's Addiction, Elvis Costello, and even the Beach Boys into a neat package.
Little guy from Montreal makes good.......2004-08-04
This guy first came to my attention while I was visiting Calgary, Alberta Canada during the summer of 2003. I heard one of his songs on the radio and then I noticed my friend had a copy of his EP at home, so I decided to give it a listen. Half of the EP grabs you immediately and the other half grows on you pretty quickly. This is some totally fun stuff! I can't quite describe what it's like, not because it's something way out there but because it's actually quite conventional sounding. Sam Roberts' greatest asset is that he doesn't require gimmicks or avant-grde posturing to put out some good straightforward rock. The track 'Don't Walk Eileen' is the catchiest number on the album and the one that grabs your attention first. This guy is like the (...)child of BTO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Beach Boys, Rick Springfield, Grand Funk Railroad and God knows what else. I sense a touch of that late 70's/early 80's pop-rock vibe in his stuff. Every song is well crafted, with distinct instrumentation and fine, tight musicianship (made all the more impressive by the fact that Roberts played every instrument on the album except the drums.) 'My Love Is Freeing' is a slow laid-back song that starts off with a quirky guitar part and some slightly off key singing, but the chorus refrain soars in such a fantastically mellow way that it's not easy to say what it sounds like. Everything here sounds very familiar and you can hear 1000 different bands and influences in his sound, but you can't exactly say who or what. Roberts mixes everything up so well that he actually gives us something new without even trying. 'This Is How I Live' sounds like a hillbilly rave-up squeezed through the pop harmonies of Cheap Trick. It also features the immortal line ''I'm young, dumb and ready to come ALIVE!' I really can't put any of this down in words. Another outstanding fact is that Roberts originally intended to use this album as his demo, but I guess Canadian radio picked up on the track 'Brother Down', which kinda sounds like an indie rock tune, but catchier than anything Sebadoh or Pavement would ever put out, and from there this 'demo' spawned three hit singles. The 'Brother Down' video helped too, featuring Sam's band stranded out to sea on a small boat trying to figure out what to do as their supplies dwindle. Wait'll you see the fate of the clumsy, annoying guy. Another great tune is 'When Everything Is Alright' which sounds like all those fun 70s bands, like Foghat and Thin Lizzy, but speeded up to an almost punky tempo and some vocal harmonizing on par with Brian Wilson and family. The EP's real standout track is 'Where Have All The Good People Gone?'. The song opens with the line 'Oh, the Milky Way, has gone a little sour.' And just ascends from there. It has a timeless feel, combining a Beatles-like melody with a good old classic rock stomp beat and some semi-jazzy jangle guitar noodling. When the song slows down, it shows traces of psychedlia with a slight synth note that veers dangerously close to prog rock without actually going into that territory. Everything on this EP sounds very well thought out but so deceptively simple that it seems as if its something he just threw together in his spare time (which he probably did.) It's really all quite good and should get more exposure. Unfortunately, America is always adverse to anything coming out of Canada, if said artist hasn't moved to the States first.
canadian talent at its best!.......2003-02-28
I purchased Sam's six cut cd a few months ago after the highly overplayed Brother Down and i realized that this Montreal native had more then a one hit wonder on his hands. Since buying the album i have seen Sam open for the Hip in Hamilton and also in Guelph for a feature act. I must say that their performance was impressive to say the least. Sam is a proud Canadian boy with his Canadian roots evident in most of his songs, refering to the great 401 and chanting socialism in two of his new songs. Sam definetly appreciates his fans and we should show him the same by purchasing this album and not downloading it! I also suggest seeing Sam if he's ever in your area, he sure knows how to keep a crowd.
Thank God Sam found his true calling..........2002-11-17
Sam is a true talent. A fun album with catchy tunes you will be humming all day. I agree with the influences/connections that the other reviewers have suggested and would suggest that there is some Jane's Addiction type of influence here as well. Fantastic first effort, head and shoulders above most of the stuff on the radio today. Can't wait for a full-length disc. Really glad that Sam got all that pro-hockey stuff out of the way to move on with what he was meant to do!!!
Sonic delight.......2002-10-10
This is a CD no one should miss. Incredible, moving, and witty lyrics. The music is moving and packed with a strange energy, without the stench of effort.
Roberts has a raw, honest voice that hits all the right emotions. This album is on par with PJ Harvey, Coldplay, The Matthew Good Band, The Verve or Travis. Some Birds, Brother Down, Don't Walk Away Eileen, and This is How I Live are stand out tracks.
