Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Here is the ultimate soundtrack to FASHION WEEKS 2003- the one and only official soundtrack of its kind. George V Records has compiled the music from this year's top fashion shows on this double CD set. FASHION WEEKS has captured the very best moments of all the cutting edge music heard on this season's runways in NY, Milan, London, and Paris. This wild collection features music taken from the shows of Dolce & Gabbana, Jil Sander, Vivienne Westwood, & other renowned designers. For music connoisseurs who know their 80's Euro pop, the House of Cacharel has unearthed a beautiful version of the old French hit "La Poupee Qui Fait Non" with lyrics translated into English by indie band Saint Etienne. Other tracks included on this trend setting line up include Queen of Japan's interpretation of Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy"; from the House of Fendi, the remake of Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds", and Mirwais' (producer for Madonna) realization of the Rolling ! Stones' "Miss You". FASHION WEEKS' line up is the best music that was heard at the 2003 season's showings and includes five tracks that were previously unreleased. These previously unavailable tracks include a remix of Royksopp's dance floor hit "Eple"- the official music from Dolce & Gabbana. Wild, kitsch, colorful & bursting with contemporary incarnations of 80's hits, this album signifies the end of self serious minimalist techno and celebrates the birth of post 2000 rock n' roll.
I would have given it no stars at all, but the last 35 minutes of this two-disc set make up for the sad beginning. The mix gets decidedly more adventurous - once you hit the Royksopp/Akufen/Zongamin/Royksopp section of the disc, you'll be turning it up.
1/3 gorgeous, 2/3 expendable = 2 stars
Since Amazon doesn't offer previews of this CD, go and listen to it before buying. Too bad they don't sell the discs individually.
