Sporting a hot new track along with five remixes, The Pimp is one of three late 2002 EPs from Fatboy Slim (Camber Sands and Illuminati are the others) based on material from his 2000 record, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars. A potential mainstay on any DJ's deck, the deeply funky title track plays a lascivious, electronically altered Bootsy Collins (who also shows up on Illuminati) vocal off a rumbling bassline, producing a fun, sleazy sound. The remixes are of a similar bent, offering grubby, sweaty takes on "Drop the Hate" and "Retox," along with a swaggering version of Halfway's overplayed yet still potent "Star 69." This is NOT Too Shorts BEST album, but it is GREAT. As stated in another review, I own every single Short Dawg album, and Get in where you Fit in is tough to not say is his best. I know a lot of people say Life is.. Too Short is his best, but that is number two. Just a solid Too Short album. I mean, if all you had were his 16 albums, you'd have one hell of a collection.

Great CD, whats the deal with the last track?.......2006-03-21

Excellent CD. To tell you the truth I picked up some game just listening to this CD :-). However, im just curious to ask Short what the *$@% is he thinking making a 12 minute track "something to ride to" if you cut that track down to 4 minutes and threw in 2 more good tracks like all the others this CD could of been his best. If you took off something to ride to it would be a 5 star no doubt. The track isn't even bad but 12 minutes is way too long plus there is a lot of talking. Solid CD would of been my favorite if it wasn't for that. It still ties with Short Dogs in the house and cocktales For every Too Short review check out my other reviews

album "#7" is another tight one -- 4.5 stars.......2005-11-13

This is the oldest $hort album I have, and probably one of his top albums (I'd give one 5 stars, four 4.5 stars, two 3.5 stars, and two 4 stars). Only 10 songs on here but straight funk on the beats, as every beat on every song and interlude on here is TIGHT! Ant Banks produces 5 of the songs, $hort Dog does 4 and D'Wayne Wiggins does 1. Of the 10 songs, 1 is a classic, 1 is almost a classic, 1 is ok and the rest are good, no bad ones. Guests are on only 1 song so you get a great deal of the Oaktown Pimp on here. As usual don't listen to this if you aren't a fan of some dirty vulgar lyrics, that made us all love $hort to begin with. A must have for fans of true funk.

$horty The PimP.......2005-10-13

I have been listening to rap for a long time and no one can compete with Too $hort. His Oaktown style is like no other. When I listen to this record I am brought back to a certain time period inn a place the only Too $hort can emulate. Too $hort brings classic raps of pimpin, slangin dope, and riding old school rides down the street. It is the representation of an era that canont be reprodiced, the early 90's. "No Love From Oakland" stands out showing the real Oaktown funky Ant Banks beats. "Something to Ride To" features the Dangerous Crew and is one of my favorite tracks, with 11+ minutes of staight Oakland Ant Banks funkn beat, it just lets me smoke and ride on the city steets all day. COP IT IF U A PLAYER.

This album came correct, skinny had never sounded this great this and will probably not again. If you like 3-6 or skinny pimp u should buy this. The rest of his albums dont match to this,the beats are bumpin too mainly cause it was produced by Paul & Juice. Check out songs like "Ya'll ain't no killaz" "I don't love em" and "All about them prophets".

The best solo release from Prophet Entertainment. Some of the best beats post Mystic Stylez by Paul & Juice. As the two have grown as producers, unfortunately Skinny has dwindled as a rapper resorting to recycled lyrics.

Back in the Prophet Entertainment days, Skinny was one of their best artists. Now they are beefin' but this came out back when Three 6 and Skinny was cool. What can I say negative about this album? nothing at all dj paul and juicy J were the producers of this cd and you can tell cuz the cd is poppin. Skinny pimp with his gangsta lyrics expressing his every day life from pimping to pulling of heists and putting niggas six feet under. This cd included almost every body from three six mafia but one of my favorites were I don't love em feat gangsta boo. Just another nigga representing the m-town!

Now let me start off by saying I'm usually not much of gangsta rap or even southern rap. There are a few southern rappers who I do happen to like such as cunninlynguist and outkast but Kingpin is a lot different. I do not agree with a lot of his subject matter but this dude has the tighest flow. He may rap about uninteresting things but I give him a lot of props for finding a way to make his boring topics entertaining with his beats and flow. Its a very nice CD to just kick back and chill to, or blast up with the bass blaring.

Nowadays Skinny just aint snappin to his full potential. This was it though. The beats were straight but his flow was what made this album. that was rare for memphis rap at the time. get this and king of the playaz ball. after that, skinny got on that talking flow that he does today. its annoying because you know he could do better and he just talking over a beat basically to say he put out an album.

Skinny Pimp has to be the most repetitive rapper in the industry. Don't waste your money. He should stop talking trash about Three 6, because he's not any better. You know why he's an "underground" artist? BECAUSE HE [is bad].

If you like gangsta/pimp with a flow mix of three 6, twista, and 8ball/mjg.. You will love this Fast flows, gangsta flows, pimpin all combined. check it out it is well worth the money.

Crossing My Fingers..........2004-05-31

I just bought the CD going off of his previous release "Still Pimpin' and Hustlin'", which was good. Nothing will ever touch King of Da Playaz Ball. That was, is, and always will be the best rap cd ever made. If you don't have it get it now. It's better than any of the JA Rule, J-Kwan, Chingy $hit you hear nowadays. I think all Skinny's fans would say they'd like to someday see him back w/Three 6 Mafia but it doesn't look it'll happen any time soon. Hopefully this album will satisfy us in the meanwhile.
