This is an excellent compilation. I consider it one of the essentials in my collection of few that actually stand up to the litmus test. It combines the best of both worlds of the genres of Industrial and Techno. If you like this collection as much as I do, then check out its sequel entitled: "Dr. Speedlove Presents: Vol. 2", also on Invisible Records. The Full Title of THIS Compilation 2CD is "Dr. Speedlove Presents: Chemical Warfare (Mix Mix Bang Bang)". Enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Half "eh", half "omigawd"........2003-03-06

I agree -- if you're into anything approximating bigbeat or aggro or industrial or metal or... anything with THUD, stop reading & buy the CD. The whole thing is remixes, all 24 tracks, and there's a little good-spirited give-&-take as the chopper on one track becomes the source on another.

Sure, some of it's lame (like Jah Wobble's "Train"), but the two remixes of Meg Lee Chin (from Pigface) are almost worth the price by themselves. If you can identify the writer of "The Horned One" before the end of the first verse, I'll give you a cookie. "I Like Fur" somehow manages to be a funny anti-fur techno/disco sing-along.

Go ahead -- it'll be okay...

5 out of 5 stars Worthwhile notes from the remix wars.......2002-12-09

Briefly: an excellent and well-rounded collection of remixes of industrial/electronic artists BY other industrial/electronic artists. And where else are you going to find Sheep On Drugs, Autechre, Dub Pistols, Psychic TV and The Prodigy in one compilation? What, you haven't clicked ADD TO CART yet?

4 out of 5 stars solid mix.......2000-06-27

This CD provides a solid and trippy compilation of electronica. Buy it.

4 out of 5 stars loud.......2005-03-30

there's not much you can say about this disc. i haven't heard the original Kaos record yet, but from what i've heard these remixes are the same general kind of stuff. this disc can be easily summed up: rough, sometimes techsteppy dnb breaks with eigth-note rapping over top. if you know roni size's stuff that he did with method man ("Ghetto Celebrity", "Judgement Day"), this is basically two cd's worth of that, only maybe a little more hardcore. standouts for me are the first three tracks, which comprise a hilariously epic intro and a near flawless segue into Roni Size's kickoff track. J Majik's mix of "Where's My..?" is excellent as well, one of the nicest beats on the disc in my opinion. also worth noting is the strange shuffled version of that mix at the very end of Craze's mix. what's that about?? very cool changeup, and interesting too, but who's idea was it to shuffle the eighths, j majik or craze?

the only thing i really have to add to the reviews here is that while purists will predictably bash this type of dnb/hip-hop (and it is certainly their right to) i think that this disc demonstrates the versatility of the style as much as anything. this isn't what you would call "pure" dnb, since it is based around vocals for the most part, while dnb is more defined by its instrumental characteristics. but sticking to "pure" anything inevitably results in stagnation, repetition, and eventual fading away (UKG, anyone?). we need people to push things in places they weren't originally intended to be, that's how progress happens. this is drum and bass put it a new context, almost like the latest step in the original ragga style's evolution from scrappy, minimal dub-plate remixes, to programmed soundscaped epics ala Timeless and New Forms, to ear-bleeder techstep like Dillinja, and now to a new form of hyped-up hip-hop/rnb rhythm.

i don't know who i would reccomend this to, but the list of participants is certainly what won me over in the record store: roni size, redman, j majik, high contrast, ray keith, ll cool j etc etc. it is what it is, and you either like it for what it is, or you don't. as i said, dnb purists might be offended by all those words on top of their beats, so if you need your breaks solo or need your hip hop under the 120 bpm mark, stay away.

4 out of 5 stars Drum and Bass Album With Major Rap Stars on it.......2004-06-13

Good album for those who love hip-hop and drum-n-bass. Disc 1 is the album and Disc 2 is turntablist version of the album via DJ Craze.

This album surprizingly has tracks by many of the major players and legendary rappers of today. It has everybody from Pharoahe Monch (best track), to MOP, to Guru, to Capone and Noreaga.

This is an album for the d-n-b heads who love the MC's, and DJ Craze scratches it up on Disc 2 for those who love turntablists.

This album is one of the best drum n bass albums i have heard

1 out of 5 stars idiots.......2003-12-13

d'nb is the uk's answer to hip hop?
i have never heard a more stupid statement in my entire life.
people who know nothing about d'nb and it's history should just shut up. this disc sucks. it's overmixed and redundant. adam f
used to put out some hard-step, stomping stuff in the late 90's,
but hasn't done anything decent in a long time. check out some
moving shadow stuff, tech itch, dillinja and high contrast way before you buy this.

4 out of 5 stars pretty good mixes.......2003-09-05

just a couple of correctional notes here to the comments made prior to mine. first of all adam f produced most of the tracks on these cd's. His label Kaos is the reason these tracks exist, second of all whoever recommended something produced by moving shadow.... moving shadow is a label that produces drum n bass. otherwise, slammin roughneck business rinsin fo real. big ups to both djs keepin the worldwide circuit hot. drum n bass is the uk's answer to hip hop, and these mixes are tha gap bridgas yall, respect and bigupyaself for reading this

5 out of 5 stars POSSESSION REMIX IS THE KEY.......2005-06-15

I played the hell out of this album when it was first released, and have to say that the Technical Itch remix of "Possession" truly sets the tone of the mix properly. There are also two separate EPs out on vinyl as well from Outbreak, containing four tracks apiece from the album, if you spin.

5 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2005-06-09

Great djs and nice rhythms sets this as one of my favorite albums.
