The Future Sound of Boring.......2006-05-31

I bought this because of a good Tosca song (Ocean Beat) that I'd heard on-line. I expected more of the same, but in 2 CDs there are only about 4 good songs and a few more that are ok. For the most part this is atmospheric fluff, which will put you to sleep -- and it will be a sleep with boring, depressing dreams. And for the record, nothing on this record has the remotest connection to the future of jazz.

im the first to write a review for this? wow! this cd has been out for like 11 years now. the jazzanova tune is amazing, i dont even need to explain how good it is. anyway, the songs are really quite remarkable. theres that abvious attention to details that this record has compared to others in the same series. the song by forest mighty black is amazing as well...like a mental journey it takes you through the path where you will encounter "everything" along the way. then there's the unify(ripped) tune which is really avant garde. you have to reallly think about this song before you judge it, it was soo experimental when it came out back in 1993 and it is an amazing tune that really redefined parameters in house music. theres jurmans tune which is really groovy and will get you into a blue mood. while the end tune by deadly avenger will surely put a fitting ending to a great album, and i play this song to get myself to go to bed, it's like a lullaby. overall excellent tunes and two cds worth, unfortunately, THIS IS THE BEST ONE BUT PEOPEL ALWAYS SKIP IT! They tend to go for anything vol.6 and after for some reason shame!

New sounds.......2001-06-13

This cd was introduced to me in a small music shop in Durham, NC. I have not seen it anywhere else but was not surprised to see it here ar Amazon. This experimental fusion of Jazz and hip-hop is truly a masterpiece. It is perfect for a late night chill out session and creates a fantastic atmsophere. The beats never fail to surprise me as they can be heavy of soft while still flowing with the jazz-like qualities of the tune. A wonderful cd!!
