Further proof that the 15-year-old male is the nexus of contemporary popular entertainment, this anthology of music from and "inspired by" the sequel to the earth-conquering Halo saga also showcases how capably the video game industry can trump even Hollywood's vaunted production values. The original synth-heavy underscore by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori is filled with enough brooding, mock-Goth atmospherics, and pulsing exotica of indeterminate ethnicity to give the Hans Zimmer stable a run for their money, while a slate of (mostly) worthy rock star guest turns give it a welcome edge. Legendary axe-slinger Steve Vai's sinewy riffing punches up the reworked main theme and "Never Surrender," while alt.metal contenders Breaking Benjamin serve up the suitably dramatic inspired-by cut "Blow Me Away." But it's Incubus' four-part "Odyssey" suite that's the centerpiece, bridging 1970s prog and modern rock with its moody aura and evocative musical dramatics. --Jerry McCulley

BUY! BUY! BUY!.......2007-03-05
This CD stayed in my truck's CD player for months before getting tired of it. Enough said.
Great game - great music.......2007-01-10
My son wanted this Cd. I had never sat long enough to listen to the music when he played Halo, so I didn't have a clue what I was buying. He let me listen to some of the tracks once it arrived and I had to "borrow" it from him so I could download the cd onto my pc. Needless to say I bought volume 2 and the original Halo soundtrack cd as well. They may belong to my son, but I love these cds too!
Hug your pillows girls.......2006-08-06
THe only reason I am writing anything about this album is because it contains the Odyssey by Incubus, and its probably some of their best work and will go down as their most unnoticed. While the rest of your nerds are huggin your pillows at night thinking about your video games and the "gnarly instrumentals" on this album you sit there and bash Incubus' work. The first track by them, Follow, is not all that great however it was re-released on an additional cd with their Alive at Red Rocks DVD and it sounds sooooooo much better on that cd (with some real lyrics) But after listening to the Odyssey I was really hoping this to be a new direction for Incubus, a more proggressive/conceptual sound. Whether this is the direction they go on with their new album is yet to be heard. Its a shame that this work will go unnoticed, and the only reason it will be that way because a bunch of losers decide to try and impress people with (what they think) is a sense of music just because its of a classical nature. Yes, the rest of the music on the album is amazing, and I give big ups to its composition, but come on people, show some love to good music when its presented to your faces.
best video game soundtrack ever........2006-08-03
i understand that many people are a bit angry with breaking benjamin and hoobastank being in here. i'm not particularly happy myself with the last track, but i think contemporary music is appropriate here, albeit lyrics may not be the greatest form of expressing the mysterious feeling behind everything. i think o'donnel and salvatori have what it takes to compose a score of music, but it's not a score, it's a soundtrack. i found that if you don't like them you can just skip them. the second to last track is a great way to end the soundtrack.
classical music listeners stop complaining.......2006-05-10
The worst part of this album was songs with lyrics (breaking benjamin, techno, hoobastank)...i dont understand then why people are upset with the incubus - follow has one word the whole song (two if you count "yeah") and their instrumental songs are brilliant, floyd-esque at times. for those of you reading others criticizing this album, ignore them, ignore the three bad songs on this album, and purchase it and enjoy it.

With the same alternative-pop theme as the first Smallville collection, this second disc once again reveals just how much the show integrates music into its plot lines and overall feel. The track list includes familiar songs such as the All American Rejects' "Dirty Little Secret," and Depeche Mode's newest hit "Precious," but there are also a few surprises. The Alan Moulder remix of the Dandy Warhols' "All The Money Or Simple Life Honey" is a booty-shaking blast, while the rock-meets-goth cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" courtesy of HIM is an amusingly amped-up new take on the older tune. Actress-songstress Minnie Driver offers her light jazz take on Springsteen's "Hungry Heart" (which also appeared on her debut disc), and Lifehouse delivers their touching version of "You and Me," while Josh Kelley's "Almost Honest" could be the soundtrack to anybody's breakup or breakdown. It's true that many of these songs have been previously released, but Smallville fans are a devoted bunch who will likely appreciate being able to buy their favorite tracks on one disc. --Denise Sheppard

Metropolis Mix.......2007-06-01
I loved the Talon Mix (Smallville Vol One), so I thought this would be another great CD. I was disappointed. It has about 4 songs that are good. But everything else is pretty dull. There's tons of great music throughout the seasons of Smallville. Hopefully the next Volume will be better.
Super Metropolis.......2007-05-24
I enjoy listening to this CD as it reminds me of a TV series that I particularly like & the music has been an integral part of that enjoyment.
Smallville Musical Wonders.......2007-05-23
The second volume of hits added to the Smallville soundtrack is quite a delight!
Whether you like the smooth rhythm of Depeche Mode rendering "Precious", the deeply romantic "You and Me" from Lifehouse, the bouncing fun of The All-American Rejects in "Dirty Little Secret" or the soulful "Hungry Heart" from Minnie Driver, this soundtrack has it all and more!
Don't miss it!
Love IT.......2007-05-14
This is a great soundtrack even if you are not a Smallville fan (but I am).
Another Winning Smallville Soundtrack.......2007-04-11
This soundtrack contains many different styles of music and all are worth-while. The only song I didn't like was Superman by Stereophonics, but the rest of the tracks, and especially the first two, certainly make up for it. I recommend this soundtrack for any Smallville fan, or for anyone who likes good music.

Rump shakin goodness.......2005-05-07
I like to dance and am very good at it. I know all the moves like the caterpillar, windmill and cabbage patch. I bought a New Kids on the Block how to dance video in Jr. high and learned the hottest moves. Cds to dance to do not get better than this. Can you start a CD with two stronger tracks than Informer and Ditty? By the end of these two tracks it's time to take a break and drink a zima with a cherry. I'm a man's man but how do you keep the energy after coming out of the box like that. Informer, say no mo daddy snow I gonna blay a licky boom boom now so say daddy ma snow i me gonna blame. That is deep and so true. He's only the best candian rapper with a jamaican accent ever. Throw that beat behind it and you're talking gold. Then Paperboy comes at you full force with the ditty. Back in I-City in the early 90s the boys were kicking it at the fieldhouse and when Ditty came on we had a planned dance that might as well have been a mating call because right away every girl in the club moved to our end of the building and wanted to buy us drinks. We picked hottays to take back to the dorms and turned it out into another party. We had this CD and we just kept the party going until John Knicely showed up and pooped on the floor. After that it smelled and we closed shop.
Some of my favorite dance songs when I was in my 20's .......2005-03-18
This CD was released in 1994 and the songs are from the '91-'94 era. Back in those days, I was clubbing every weekend and enjoying many of these songs. Here is my track by track review:
1. Informer by Snow: Not something I ever remember dancing to at clubs, just remember it being all over the radio at the time and getting tired of hearing it.
2. Ditty by Paperboy: Same as Track 1, thankfully we get past these 2 tunes early and move on to the TRUE dance music.
3. Shoop by Salt n' Pepa: I love this song, however, the mix here is not the version I prefer.
4. More & More by Captain Hollywood Project: A great example of the euro-dance music to come out of Germany during this period. Not only a dance hit, but also went to #17 on the Billboard Hot 100.
5. I'm Gonna Get You by Bizarre Inc.: A fun and lively dance tune, and the mix between the previous track & this track is flawless.
6. The Key, The Secret by Urban Cookie Collective: Another lively, bouncy dance tune like Track 5. One of my favorites from my club days.
7. Give it Up by The Goodmen: Another great euro-dance tune that uses whistle blowing and drumline, which was very fashionable in dance music at the time.
8. Talkin About Love by BKS: I don't remember hearing this track "back in the day", but it is a good dance track none-the-less.
9. Supermodel by RuPaul: Gotta love Ru. He has had other good songs since this one, but none have been this fabulous.
10. No Limit by 2 Unlimited: Another sub-genre of dance music during this period, rave. My uptight cousin used to call this kind of music "communist music", but I loved bouncing up & down on the dance floor to this and 2 Unlimited's other hits.
11. Whoomp! There it Is by Tag Team: Ugh...the real dud of this CD.
12. Take me in Your Arms by Li'l Suzy: Another sub-genre, free-style. Free-style was winding down it's popularity and originality by this point, but a good song.
13. Happy by Legacy of Sound: Back to the bouncy, frantic sound heard on tracks 5 & 6. My #1 favorite track on this CD.
14. Forget me Nots by Ava Cherry: I don't remember hearing this remake of Patrice Rushen's classic at the clubs, and although it is good, it does not come near Patrice's excellent version.
15. Show me Love by Robin S: Diva vocals to blow you away. Went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
16. Finally by CeCe Peniston: Another diva who had a string of hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including this one which also went to #5.
17. This is It by Dannii Minogue: Dannii never achieved the stateside success that her sister Kylie has, and this track explains why.
Yes, there are a few duds here and some songs that are just ok, but the awesome dance tracks ("Happy", "More & More", "I'm Gonna Get You", "The Key, The Secret", "Give it Up", "Show me Love", and "Finally") well make it worth buying.
Classics from back in the day!.......2004-05-06
I still have lots of memories from many many years ago and this CD brings a lot of great memories of those days when dance music was at it's absolute best. "More and More" and "I'm Gonna Get You" are my dance anthems of my lifetime. A pity that dance music has almost completely collapsed ever since. :(((
Excellent dance album!.......2004-04-15
This second entry in the awesome "Dance Mix USA" CD series is one of my favorites of them all. I can't say how it ranks with like the first, forth and sixth entries in the series but this second volume is just awesome to listen to and all of the songs still hold up well.
"Informer" by Snow is a sadly forgotten classic from the early 1990s and has a New Jack Swing and strong old school hip-hop rhythm and excellent melody, all of which are totally absent in today's rap music! I still enjoy this song a lot. "Ditty" by Paper Boy is a lot more urban and has excellent rhyming and great beats as well. Both of these songs were fun themes back in 1993 when they were popular as I was in a lot of tournaments around this time in my life and these songs hold a lot of memory for me. "Shoop" by Salt N Pepa is a risqué danceable hip-hop classic that was like the forerunner to what TLC would do very shortly afterwards. While not on the raunchy level of "Let's Talk About Sex", this song is indeed on the wild side if you ask me. "More and More" by Captain Hollywood is a dynamite classic. The song begins with electronic sound effects and a haunting ambient intro comes and then the song becomes a highly radiant techo-dance number with some macho rapping too. In a lot of ways, this was like the precursor to Real McCoy's "Another Night" that came in the mid to late 1990s as it has some of the dark undertones of that track. I love this song a lot. "I'm Gonna Get You" is another highly energetic and fun dance song with really excellent keyboards and frantic keyboard rhythm. "The Key The Secret" by Urban Cookie Collective is a somewhat strange dance track with few vocals and fun hip-hop rhythm. I'll continue this review later.
Very interesting, it's a must if you like to party........2000-07-12
Just browse the song list and you will see what I'm talking about. Dance, Dance and Dance the night away!

Friday Night Cocktail Hour.......2006-06-01
Put this baby on after work on a Friday night. Mix up your favorite beverages and start the weekend right. Great CD for a party or just "chillin". If only we had a road map to get back to these days when life was a little easier. No P.C. garbage, no cell phones or fax machines. Just come home to your wife, mix up the cocktails and do it! Put this CD on, pretend its 1962 and drink it up!!
Really great for dancing and for listening!.......2005-04-17
I just happened to run across this CD by chance and after listening to a few track samples, decided to buy it right away. I wasn't disappointed - now I play it all the time! The tracks here are a unique blend of musical styles, including jazz, Latin, Brazilian, and early 60's dance music - they all fit under the umbrella of "lounge music" and every single one is great. There are some fun surprises, like a jazzy Connie Francis singing "Bossa Nova Hand Dance" in Portuguese, Dick Hyman's Lowrey organ and bongo arrangement of "Washington Square", and Les Elgart's big band twist version of "Frenesi", which I think is my favorite track. I also love Rene Touzet's Latin-ized "Baby Elephant Walk", Cal Tjader's supremely cool "Soul Sauce" and Perez Prado's rock-mambo "Why Wait". Throw in some great vocal tracks from Mel Torme, Ann-Margret, Nancy Wilson and Mose Allison, plus Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 and other fine artists in the genre, and you've got a classic party CD guaranteed to make you feel good every time you hear it. I definitely recommend buying this one!
Shaken, not stirred.......2005-02-12
This CD features 18 tracks that might have been played at a "cocktail party" back in the 1960s. It is a fun combination of vocals and instrumentals dating from 1958 to 1967. This is the kind of music that was played at parties for adults back then. None of that "rock and roll" stuff here! There is a lot of bossa nova here, plus jazz-pop and various other swinging styles. This is the perfect music to listen to while drinking martinis (not that I ever had a martini). If you are a fan of the lounge music revival, you will enjoy this CD.
Love It Love It Love It.......2001-12-09
I am new to Lounge but knew I loved Austin Powers-type music so I took a chance on this one and this is my favorite CD. I need two copies, one for my car and one for the house! Many of the artists weren't familiar to me but it was love at first listen with Ann-Margret's 13 Men (first track), then an elevator-muzak style Girl from Ipanema and the classics Soul Bossa Nova and Mais Que Nada (you'll know it when you hear it). House of Bamboo is so much fun as is Hot Barbeque and a different version of Dave Brubeck's Take Five. It's all great - run, don't walk, to get out your martini glasses. Oh, and last but not least, the inside jacket is jam-packed with career bios of each artist. This is a must-have.
We play this every Thursday during our Martini Thursdays.......2000-12-13
This CD has it all. It is great. All you have to do is make some martinis, put this CD on. As soon as Ann Margaret starts with "13 Men" it sets the scene.

Classic........2005-09-11
it was the mid-90s, and chicago hard-house was in full effect (in my opinion, when house music was still good). if you came from the northside of chicago or los angeles and were a teenager from the inner city during this time period, you'd know who badboybill is. hands down badboybill was the best from this genre, and bangin the box2 along with house connection 1 is pretty much the definition of this era.
No doubt, the man knows how to mix, but...........2002-05-06
In all the fury of lacing out a hurricane of tracks, Bad Boy Bill tends to overlook quality, focusing on quantity instead...
Beatmixing makes not a DJ my man, ease up a lil' sum sum and dig in dem crates for better records!
AMAZING, ENERGIZING, PUMPING.......1999-07-21
This cd is great for only the best bashes!!! If you are going to party outside of a dance club, GET THIS CD. It has the best artists and it is the only mix you'll wanna dance to!! THE BEST!!!!!!!!!
Another great CD.......1999-07-17
Better than the first one but the 3dr is better than thi, he just gets better and better on all his cds
Bad Boy Bill drops DA BOMB again!.......1998-08-01
Even better than the Vol. 1, Bad Boy Bill continues to bring house music to a higher level. This man from Chicago is one of the top DJ in the country, and this CD shows why. 60 minutes of non-stop house music. Add it to you collection

MUST LISTEN .......2006-11-20
This is one of those "epic" albums that doesn't come around very often. I appreciate all styles, even though im mostly into Drum n Bass, Chicago House is defined in this album, and the mixing of these pioneers in the scene is utterly amazing, fantastic, and perfect in every way. If you are at all into house/electronica, you must own this album. It is a staple of the genre.
The best use of the CD format of all time.......2005-01-05
This is the disc. It is just sooooooo good, it's disgusting. The most insane mixing, mastering, track selection, hype, beats. Just too good. I've owned like 3 copies of this, they keep getting stolen or too scratched up!
House might never be this good again, this is the pinnacle. Think I'm exagerating? buy the damn thing!
Sweetness.......2003-09-30
This is just too good. First off this cd features Richard Humpty Vision one of my recent favorite house Djs. I had purchased his Shut the F*** up and Dance cd and I wanted more. Then came along Bad Boy Bill, I had heard some of his stuff and it was some premium house. And the fact that they are both here on four turntables mixing the crap out of the song selection is just to cool. Now my only problem with the cd is that it varys to much between fast and slow paced songs. I wish that one type would stay consistant for more than just a minuet or two.
Other than that, this is a good album and I recomend this to any House junky/fan out there.
bangin in hawaii.......2003-05-31
this cd by far is the last true house cd to come out during a time when house was breaking through it had the right timing the rave scene was hitting hits peak and this cd takes on a journey through house. it has everything on it chicago style and l.a house mixed together. if you don't like this cd than you are not into house some of the newer dj's should listen to this as starting point. we miss this sound someone should bring it back/ i still pump this cd even 2003 poeple wanna know who this is. i give this cd a 5 star rating i suggest picking it up!!![.]
Grade 'A' House.......2003-05-14
All aspiring DJ's should take this example and run with it.

Customer Reviews:
The Bass Queen delivers yet another hit.......2005-05-11
This album's not quite as good as the first mix,but close enough.Just like mix 1,this one's also got that Florida bass and breaks sound ,she's famous for.Dance music lovers,go out and purchase this, you'll be dancing your ass off to the killer beats.
Some of the bass queen's best stuff.......2003-11-17
Now thats what I call breaks! This album performs from start to finish and leaves nothing to be desired. It picks up where in the mix 1 left off.I highly recommend this cd
Baby Anne is the Queen of Bass........2003-03-28
This cd will capture you from the first song to the last, with brilliant bass rolls and perfectly placed breaks. Baby Anne cuts and scrateches like she was born to do it and if you don't listen to Baby Anne you are missing one of the best genres techno has to offer.
5 star for sure.......2002-05-01
This is my favorite Baby Anne CD; that includes Dark Side of the Boom. This mix is a relentless bass and breaks mix album. I listen to dj mixes for the complete tone, overall meanings, emotionally moving continuity, mood, and total representation of the album. Of course I appreciate each individual track on an album, but if the mix lacks mood and meaning between the tracks, then I lose interest. (If I just wanted to hear some cools songs, I would by a compilation cd, or something.) Anyway, this album has all the neccessary ingredients to make it a classic and it is! It is fluid, the records all go well with each other, and play off each other in such a way that it highlights the best in each song; she takes you on a journey. This mix and the way it was mixed has style and skill, and more importantly the ability to listen to it over and over again.......it's so dope. 5 star for sure.
Not a Fan of this CD by Baby Anne.......2001-06-25
After purchasing Baby Anne's first CD, I kept an eye out for the second one. Well, I bought it without checking it out figuring that it would blow the first one away... This was a mistake! Baby Anne's "v5.1" sounds terrible on here, lots of background static. "She Said" is extremely repetitive. Remixes that I have heard of it are cool, though. "Get Into it" by Montana Rangers is cool, but find it elsewhere. "Body Movin" by Baby Anne is o.k., but find this elsewhere also. Do not waste your money on this one! Baby Anne is coming out with a new disc "Dark Side of the Boom" soon, and hopefully the "third time will be a charm". If my review was helpful, then don't forget to vote. THANKS!

Hype!.......2005-08-15
If you like go-go music, you will like this CD. It is put together quite well and has a good mix of geniune artist. There is no fake go-go like that manure song from 1988: "Doin da Butt" by EU.
The hottest go-go C.D. ever.......2002-09-25
D.J. Kool did him self when he came out with this go - go cd. If you love go-go this is the cd for you. And I also think he represented go go D.C. Virginia and MAryland to the fullest. Also for the people that don;t know about go-go this is the next thing to happen for music period. Also a big shoutout to every body in Virginia D.C. and maryland keep this go-go thing alive. So it can become nationwide

Representhing DC the right way.......2001-02-18
This is a really good complilation. DC Go-Go is really underated and this album could put it on the map. This album represents right and gives u a taste of what DC go-go has to offer. I think DJ Kool Could have added a few more Backyard songs, and probably the most famous go-go song "Overnight Scenario" by rare essense, which was remade by Jay-z. But i hope a lot more people try out this album so go go can be put on the map.
DC's own music.......2000-02-20
excellent CD, this is my 2nd copy the 1st is a bit worn. If youve spent any real time in DC youve heard of Go-Go , if your lucky youve seen it live, if not pick up this CD and you'll know why its so HOTT! Peace
