Sweet Kandi.......2005-07-02

As a whole I enjoy disc one more than the second. The first disc is filled with big vocals and pulsating grooves. The liner notes describe it as being more US which is true. Not to say disc two is bad, because it has some great tracks like "Flawless" by the Ones (which George Michael sampled on his 2004 single "Flawless (Go To The City)", Agent Sumo's "24 Hours", Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance", Bastian's "You've Got My Love" and Static Revenger's "Happy People". Highlights from disc one include Warren Clarke feat Taka Boom on "Over You", Thunderpuss feat Latanza Waters "Stand Up", Soul Providers feat Michelle Shellers "Rise", and many more. A nice addition to the DISCO KANDI series.

Too much..........2002-06-23

I was a bit dissapointed with this Hed Kandi compilation. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of great tracks and the album is pretty much certified to get you dancing, but it's just too much. Hearing the same beat over and over again for 7 or 8 minutes just takes the fun out of it and more or less ruins even the good songs. But for those who like infectious beats, this is the album for you. Personally though, I think I'll stick to the "Serve Chilled" compilations from now on.

Hed Kandi does it again with the latest installment of their 'Disco Kandi' series. Another phenomenal collection of funky disco-house tunes, Volume 4 includes such fantastic hits as Roger Sanchez's UK #1 'Another Chance' (which contains a vocal sample from Toto's 'I Won't Hold You Back') and Jakatta's 'American Dream' (Joey Negro's fabulous dancefloor reworking of the 'American Beauty' theme). Other hits include the E-Smoove remix of 'Stand Up' by Thunderpuss, a cover of the tune by Love Tribe, which was itself based on Machine's disco classic 'There But For the Grace of God'; Static Revenger's 'Happy People'; and 'Rise' by the Soul Providers. With sounds ranging from the French Daft Punk/Mirwais-isms of Bastian, to Negrocan's Latin-tinged excursion, to the filtered sounds of Full Intention, this very affordably-priced 2 CD set will get your booty shaking! (Bonus points for including full-length remixes.)
