With an emphasis on analogue recording using equipment mainly from the 1940's -1970's, and reputedly recorded on the same Helios desk as The Who's Who’s Next and Quadrophenia, the resulting album sounds anything but dated, instead barriers have long been cast aside, resulting in a bustling debut that flirts between, stripped down folk, powerful acoustic anthems, even tripped out sparseness, electronic soundscapes and leftfield breaks, without ever getting lost in itself.

I can't believe this album had a total of one review up till now! I can only imagine it's because many of Kate's followers are also Aim fans, and Aim is I think a lot bigger in the UK than the US...DON'T LET THIS STOP YOU from buying/tracking down this fab album.

Kate Rogers' voice is quite amazing. It works well with the tracks on which she has collaborated with Aim, but is fantastic on the material here, which is definitely in a more singer-songwriter vein. In particular, where she has layered several harmonies of her voice over each other, there is a certain spine-tingling element to the songs. I find the lyrics somewhat strange but in a good way - they're not often what I expect.
Particular standout tracks for me are "Odyssey" and the last two tracks, "This Collective" and "St Eustacia". However, the album is one of those that you can put on and let the whole thing just kind of wash over you. It's one best listened to with dimmed lights and a quiet mind...

I see Kate appears to have a new album out also called "Seconds", on which there is no information here so I'll be looking (...) for more...meanwhile, if you can get your little mitts on this one, it's a gem. Fans of female voices and slightly quirky singer-songwriters, perhaps such as Aimee Mann (as I am!) should find this album a real treat.

Great new Album.......2004-03-13

Kate's first album is a great expansion from her days singing for Aim in England. This album is egdy, cool and brings a great feeling back to music. The limited release is frustrating but will improve as more people hear about the album.
