With 18 years of professional DJing behind him, starting out at age 16 in Darwin, and culminating in his outstanding performances at his residencies at Melbournes Sunny, 161 and other important underground clubs, Gavin continues to hold some of Melbournes longest standing and influential residencies. He has kept his eye not on the prize, but on the movement. Keitel is more interested in blowing someones mind with an intelligent selection of records rather than trying to be a superstar. As such, he has avoided becoming a product of any big promotion machine and has aligned himself with good music, rather than brands, labels and crews.
Instead of being the pin-up boy, Gavin is the DJ that any crew might call to get the job done right, and to add credibility to the event. Whether it be the local house club, the 8000 person event, or the national tour, he is often entrusted with the most delicate set times for the most important events. Why? Because he is focused on the moment, the movement, and the sound.
The result for Gavin is a style of DJing that is described by his peers as simply brilliant. Perfect, even. But for Gavin, its not a big deal, its just how it should be done. He is amongst the hardest working and most respected DJs in the country.
Whether Gavin is exploring the depths of a Sunny set, maintaining a house groove or pushing the German minimal tip, he lets the music do the talking. A DJ set at the hands of Gavin Keitel is a pleasure in any music lovers books. He brings with him the highest level of professionalism, coupled with a raw passion for what he does. That is why he has been, and will continue to be one of Australias premier league DJs.

Product Description
The band is not releasing a track listing as a surprise for their fans, but this CD contains alternate versions, out-takes, B-sides, and other material that has not previously been released.Amazon.com
Ween have never been accused of taking themselves too seriously. Music, on the other hand, is serious business indeed for the New Hope, Pennsylvania duo. As their career stretches into its second decade, they have a rabidly devoted fan base, no more ties to a major label, and a body of work that marks the most significant contribution to psychedelic music of the last ten years. In part this is because they don't hew to a limited definition of "psychedelic," making music that is trippy without being hippy. Over nine albums they've explored a music store's worth of genres with accomplished song craft and instrumentation, which can include anything from a drum machine to Elvis Presley's backup singers. In Shinola Vol. 1, a collection of songs left off other albums, the "brownest" strains of Ween's oeuvre are on proud display. "Brown" is the code word Ween uses to describe music that's warbly, pitch-shifted, and plain strange. The stompy, squirty opener "Tastes Good on the Bun" falls into this camp, as does the astral travelogue "The Rift." Elsewhere Ween's gleeful, Saturday morning cartoon side surfaces in "Boys Club," begging the question of when exactly they'll join Danny Elfman and Mark Mothersbaugh in writing music for movies (their occasional gigs for Nickelodeon and their disastrous collaboration with Pizza Hut notwithstanding). Their reverence of Prince is felt in "Monique the Freak," which contains what have to be the dumbest lyrics in the Ween canon. And "Gabrielle" could make it past even the most vigilant customs agent as a rare Thin Lizzy track. For a collection of odds-and-sods, Shinola Vol. 1 stands up remarkably well with other albums like The Mollusk and Quebec. Bring on Vol. 2. Hail Boognish. --Ryan BoudinotWeen's Brownest Albums

Land of the misfit toys.......2007-07-16
This record has a lot of great songs; well-produced, well-written tracks from the brothers Ween. As far as I can tell, the only reason why they weren't included in other albums would be that none of them seem like they would `fit' in the context of anything previously released. Solid songs from start to finish. They're the kind of songs that Ween has always been great at-- Infectious, creative, reminiscent of something you may have heard before, but can't remember where or when.
Good album, worth getting, esp for ween fans.......2007-03-25
Fun, but no classic.......2007-03-04
Reviewing music is silly anyway, 'cause one man's trash is another man's all-time favorite album, but I don't think potential listeners should be viewing this as a 5 star album.

Bobby Bland's purr-to-a-scream vocals quickly made him an R&B star in an era when rougher-hewn blues masters such as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf had fallen from the charts. Bland, a former valet for B.B. King, established himself with both up-tempo workouts ("Farther Up the Road," "I Pity the Fool") and devastatingly subtle ballad readings ("I'll Take Care of You," "Stormy Monday Blues"). Greatest Hits, Vol. One is a generous sampling of the discs that made him a steady seller throughout the '60s. A second CD chronicles his work in the '70s after Duke Records, his longtime label, was sold to ABC. --Rickey WrightCustomer Reviews:
--.......2004-01-26
The songs on this disc are not Bland's earliest recordings, but they are early, spanning 1957-1969 with an emphasis on the years 1960-1962, and they're his best and most seminal recordings. Not only that but the compilation comes at such a bargain price that even those unfamiliar with Bland would do well to pick it up.
Bland and his music, under the direction of bandleader Joe Scott, had a decided showbiz bent due to Scott and his orchestra that made generous use of horns as well as the usual guitar, bass and drums. The greatness of Bland was that his genuine and soulful stylings transcended the 'sweetening' agents of his accompaniment. That's not a knock on Scott and his orchestra though, for Bland's sound anticipated what came to be known as soul music in the '60s. Bland, well-groomed and dressed in a three-piece fronting an orchestra is something that really does it for me image-wise. He wasn't one of those other blues singers like John Lee Hooker who looked like a street musician thrown on a stage. Some would see Bland in a lesser light or less genuine than someone like Hooker because of his show and orchestra but that's b.s. Half those 'serious' blues musicians were just mailing it in and living on an image anyway, and these days they all are.
Included in this compilation is 'Farther Up the Road', Bland's first hit, later made more famous by Eric Clapton. On 'Cry, Cry, Cry' and 'That Did It' Bland loses his mind to a pleasing effect. The Brook Benton-penned 'I'll Take Care Of You' utilizes a haunting, spooky organ overdub that works as a nice wild-card element and 'Yield Not To Temptation' includes a manic hand-clapping beat and female backing vocals.
Great music, great price - what are you waiting for?
a great talent.......2000-01-24
