Frankie Knuckles "A New Reality" transpired as a reflection of his touring, and the transformation he felt post 9/11. The observations around the globe, peoples need to party & enjoy life, their need to escape, and also connect with other. Knuckles has taken that global information and created a mixture of house and soulful R&B. Knuckles brings back his team Engineer Dave Sussman along with arranger Danny Madden, programmers and Keyboard players Eric Kupper, Alex Schantez, and Peter "Ski" Schwartz for strings. Nicki Richards, known by superstars from Janet Jackson to Sting as the girl to get on backing vocals is featured on tracks such as "Matter of Time", "Journey", "Ive Had Enough", "The Bumpkin Song (Gimme Gimme)". To take you further on this Journey thorough time you will find "Hit the Flo", co written and engineered by Satoshi Tomiie, which features CeCe Rogers on vocals.
The first single "Bac N da Day" is the first time Knuckles and Jamie Principle have collaborated in almost 20 years and is mixed by the Cleptomaniacs, Brian Tappert and John Julius Knight. To round out this package, Knuckles has discovered yet another new talent in Japan piano player/ writer Daisuke, who wrote and performed the track "Emotional Energy". The album is full of surprises and will appeal to lovers of Dance and Electronic as well as R&B!

Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

By the time Gang Starr's rapper Guru created the "experimental fusion of hip-hop and jazz" he called Jazzmatazz back in 1993, the idea of blending the two African-American styles had been fairly well explored. But as the first wholly self-conscious genremixing, Jazzmatazz Volume I was at least a decent novelty record. In the two Years that followed, however, jazz rap--from Digable Planets to Buckshot Lefonque to the Roots--grew into a dominant strain of alternative hip-hop.The good news is that 1995's Jazzmatazz II acknowledges the changing times. Guru ups the ante by collecting artists from R&B (Chaka Khan, Mica Paris) and reggae (Ini Kamoze, Patra) in addition to jazz (Ramsey Lewis, Donald Byrd, Freddie Hubbard) and rap (Kool Keith, Big Shug). The concept broadens to bring together makers of all black music. At best, the songs reflect this more robust brew: "Watch What You Say," for instance, blends Khan's dynamic blue improvisational singing and Branford Marsalis's subdued saxophone phrases with Guru's rap and DJ Premier's unorthodox track of video game sound effects.
The bad news, though, is that Volume II fails in precisely the same places Volume I did. First, Guru still raps with fine tone but little gift for either rhythm or rhyme. In a monotone he self- righteously calls himself "The Lifesaver" but offers only vague solutions like "deal with reality and try to keep focus" to innercity turmoil. Second, except for Khan's vocals and perhaps Lewis' piano solo on "Respect the Architect," the style meshes never get a chance to rise out of the same tried hip-hop form. --Roni Sarig

A lot of these tracks you can easily catch a vibe to. "Lifesaver" is a easy listening track with the singing of Baybe in the background. Or with the reggae mix "Medicine" featuring Ini Kimoze, True Masters, and Donald Byrd. Hip hop plays a mix in this album also, like on the good song "Respect The Architect" with Bahamadia. Or "Young Ladies", a tracks cut out for young ladies, that features Big Shug, Kool Keith, and Patra. True, Guru has that monotone voice, but that never stopped him in Gang Starr, and it sure doesn't stop him here, he can still cut a flow. And on most tracks, his vocals blend in with the music, so it doesn't make a big deal. A lot of these songs have a positive message, like on "Count Your Blessings", Guru sees what he really had during his hard times.
As for things I didn't like. Theres a lot of Jazzaludes and skits that wern't really necessary. Also there were quite a few tracks I didn't have a taste for. Also there are some tracks that Guru has a hard staying on beat, like the song "Looking Through The Darkness". I like that track though, so I'll name that my honorable mention track.
This is a good album. If you heard the first "Jazzmatazz" and haven't heard this one, give it a try. I heard the third one wasn't good at all though. Or if you're just curious or want to hear more of Guru, you might enjoy this here. Back in '95, Guru proved that he can carry himself with or without Primo. Speaking of Primo, he would produce the track "Watch What You Say" so he had a part in this project also.

The second, and second-best, of the series.......2004-03-18
Jazzmatazz II is solid; not spectacular like the first one. It still has some jazz feel to it but not as much. It's more hip hop but it's still very chill and laidback.
I like the Jamiroquai song; funny to think that they were no-names back then before blowing up a few years later.
Very soulful, mellow, good late-nite listening.

Product Description
This program contains six guided meditations.
You hold the world together with your attention... When you shift your attention, the world collapses.
Since birth, you've been trained to see, hear and feel your world in alignment with the masses. While this may sometimes serve you, it also limits your power and ability. Whether you are aware of it or not, you expend a tremendous amount of energy to hold your current world model together. There are an unlimited number of other worlds and universes waiting to be accessed and explored. Cultivate this adventure by stepping into the "second attention."
Think about it: What are you missing? Is the world you call "real" truly all there is? You are not a physical being but a spiritual being--an infinite field of energy and possibility. All great traditions teach that you are created in the image and likeness of the Creative Source and that you have unique godlike capabilities.
With Collapse the World, you will not only learn what it is to amplify the power that lies beyond your physical self, you will experience:
* The 4 metaphysical elements that reside in you and your universe, as well as the mystical and supreme 5th element...
* How to access and initiate the etheric body...
* The 7 energy centers of the body and how to accelerate their power...
* How to step into your Divine Self and allow infinite energy to flow through you...
* How to use your Higher Council for guidance and direction...
* How to imprint your energy field to create and attract all you choose...

It was ok if you've never heard a guided meditation cd before.......2007-06-24
The guidance at times is a bit vague and the benefit of doing whichever of the cds you choose for 30 days isnt really explained in practical terms. The word "invite" has to go! James has the concepts but needs to improve on the delivery. Playing with the etheric body is fun but whats it going to achieve?
After listening to Paul Scheele's guided meditations for so long I now think I've been spoilt.

It's okay............2007-02-18
Simply, for me it is difficult because I have a hard time in focusing and imaginations. It comes to a point that I have to create the same or different ways of imaginating a particular part of the cd or else it feels old and boring to do again and I tend to lose interest.
There is a much better and easy way of meditating if you have to spend so much money on a program. I would suggest Holosync Meditation [you can purchase "Awakening Prologue" from Amazon.] In this meditation you only have to listen to the cd with headphones and the technology works on its own. You can think as much as you want and you don't really have to make up or do anything. This has worked for me and all of my friends in a very fantastic way.
"Collapse the world" may work for a lot of people but personally, I have stopped using it..
Very Good.......2007-01-20

Album Description
dufus has been compared favorably and often to both Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band and to Frank Zappa, but also to Mr. Bungle & Ween, for whom they recently opened, and even to Modest Mouse side-project Ugly Casanova. And like these previous bands, within the music is a severe tension in constant jeopardy of hurtling out of control: aggressive & nurturing, chaotic & structured, solitary & social, and, of course, anti & folkdufus is all these things. I once heard Suicide described as "dumb-genius" and while I felt the comment unfair it came close to describing the visceral content of Suicide. The same goes here. It is genius, yet there is something so pure about this album, something so subconscious that one gets the feeling it has arrived directly from the womb of some large and intricate beast.Customer Reviews:
Earfshattering.......2006-04-10
All Music Guide said this album has the potential to change a young listener's life. I'm living proof it has.
thank goodness..........2004-12-20
i'm so glad people still take the time to make original music. the market is so saturated with the same old thing it's hard to find "real" music out there. the business people, who are very good at what they do, are always going to take their money and be safe. why would they gamble on some lanky guy with a strange voice that dresses in yarn?
if you've found this record you're one of the lucky ones. keep listening until you find all pop radio for what it is: just another un-clever, unwanted commercial.
hooray for dufus!

who does this thing?.......2004-02-02
was like all the questions in my life had come to a
breaking point, the dam busted, and dufus was the
flood which ensued. There are some people in this
world who are normal, some who are good, some who are
exceptional, and some who go beyond any expectation
you could ever have. Those are the people who get called
angels or saints or prophets of peace. These
people, whoever they are, they dont know the difference
between dream and reality, they have no idea what they
are doing. it is amazing!

Album Description
Frankie Knuckles "A New Reality" transpired as a reflection of his touring, and the transformation he felt post 9/11. The observations around the globe, peoples need to party & enjoy life, their need to escape, and also connect with other. Knuckles has taken that global information and created a mixture of house and soulful R&B. Knuckles brings back his team Engineer Dave Sussman along with arranger Danny Madden, programmers and Keyboard players Eric Kupper, Alex Schantez, and Peter "Ski" Schwartz for strings. Nicki Richards, known by superstars from Janet Jackson to Sting as the girl to get on backing vocals is featured on tracks such as "Matter of Time", "Journey", "I've Had Enough", "The Bumpkin Song (Gimme Gimme)".

It's an attractive sound that Canadians Bob D'Eith (piano, keyboards) and Paul Schmidt (classical guitar) have cobbled together as Mythos, supplementing their largely pastel instrumentation with stylish, subdued grooves and airy female vocalese. The result is an uncomplicated yet appealing brand of pop instrumental music that lies somewhere east of trip-hop and west of crossover classical, and at its best occasionally brings to mind the quieter instrumental passages once heard from 10cc, OMD, or Simple Minds. Mythos's sound (similar to Enigma, with less obtrusive vocal elements) is more New Age than pop-rock, and during a track such as "Vision I" the first image your mind's eye might conjure up is a mirror ball. Yet the overall vibe D'Eith and Schmidt create is a worthwhile variation on the New Age theme--mostly instrumentals (plus a concluding vocal track) that are energized yet still relaxing--compositions with a pulse, a heart, and just a hint of mystery. --Terry WoodCustomer Reviews:
Mythos has done it again!.......2005-07-30
Mythos: The Crossroads of New Age.......2005-06-16
Pop, jazz, ethereal female vocalists and rather obscure trance themes are brought together and blended to create a passable listening experience. The two best songs of this album for me were 'Vision 1' and 'Requiem' - these two show that Mythos with time shows promise and that the music of Mythos is undertaking a major evolution that may take some years and releases to be revealed but I have a feeling we won't be disappointed.
Wish it retained the eerieness.......2004-11-07
However, the rest of the cd I only found mediocre. Never again throughout the remaining tracks was that certain dissonant sound to be captured again. Whether it was a fast track like "Requiem" or a slow one like "Solstice", I never felt as if the music was going anywhere - it just kind of goes on and on but never satisfies.
Perhaps it is my own fault for expecting the cd to be dark and mysterious based on one track. Instead of ethereal I found it to be generic.
A worthy sucessor, but a little disappointing.......2003-07-22
Reality of a Dreamer is not that album. It is good, there is no doubt, and compared to the commercial music most people hear all day, it is an effortless work of art. However, it falls short of its predecessor. Gone are the haunting, memorable vocals (no words, just beautiful humming) of November, gone is the dark and mystical sound of Sunless Sea, gone is the beautiful solo guitar of La Cathedral...
Reality of a Dreamer is a worthy investment for the Mythos fan, however, its tracks are quite consistently of 4-star and not 5-star quality. Some are even rated 3 in my iTunes player, shocking coming from a huge fan of the duo (Venice is really THAT bad)... but overall, it's still a great disc. The sound is a little tired-sounding, the euphoric perfection of the first is not quite up to par in the second, and the melodies are a bit recycled... but it is still Mythos, and that means it is still good.
Favorite tracks include Alchemy (admittedly, it took me a while), Redemption, Requiem, the two Vision tracks (although I am upset by their use of two very old and very overused samples), and Fantasy. However, all too often I feel a bit anxious to skip past the overused "lalala" style singing, only used sparingly in the first track and seemingly overapplied on this album...
You know what's wrong with Reality of a Dreamer? It's too happy, too meaningless, too insipid almost. It's a great piece of work, but compared with the drama and power of MYTHOS, it comes off being almost bubblegum-y in comparison.
Listen to all the tracks, and decide if this is really what you want to hear. If you've never heard Mythos, buy their first CD, MYTHOS, first. If you have, I'm sure you'll enjoy parts or even all of this CD, but it would be hard to say that this is better than their first.
