What collection of songs!.......2005-09-30

What can I say, but all 3 CD i can play over and over never get tired. If this does not make you move you butt, nothing will. This will get the party started! I do not think he ever puts out a bad CD, all his CD's are great.

Slammin'.......2005-08-20

First off - this guy knows his stuff. He's an expert and a pro. I always viewed him as a hip hop DJ from his other work but when I heard this mix I was extremely impressed. Mixing the Temptations with Kenny Dope? Damn. Great selections from back then and great cuts from recent releases. Plus there is a DVD which shows him in the mix and answering some questions for Defected. The mix isn't totally jazzy, deep, funky house but also dives into the realm of funk, r&b, soul and some world beats - it's just completely dope. The reason I give this CD such high marks is not only that I enjoy the music - but this guy actually took a chance and really portrays a real love for music and over two decades of collecting vinyl and respecting different styles that helped to mold his own style.

When I heard that Jazzy Jeff was going to do ItH, I was a little suprised. He's done hiphop, but this is his first foray into house music territory. Jazzy Jeff adds his own unique taste and sensibility to these discs. He mixes the old with the new, and really pulls it off nicely. It reminds me to respect the so called 'oldies'. They still sound great! This one is right up there with the top ItH releases. Note to Jazzy Jeff:Please do more house in the future!

Outstanding, best ITH mix by far!.......2004-12-19

The Defected's sublabel ITH Records has been putting out mixes for some time now. The problem with mix-cd's is, that it gets boring real quickly. Often, dj's play the same tracks and many of them released by Defected. Now with Jazzy Jeff In The House, I know I could expect something different. But I was blown away.

The hiphop legend has put together 3 CD's worth of classic house and oldschool. And when talking about oldschool, I mean musicians like The Temptations, Booker T & The MGs, Kool & The Gang, Hamilton Bohannon, Barry White, Nina Simone and many others. And in addition to that, house hedas like Kerri Chandler, Kenny Dope, Soldiers of Twilight, DJ Gregory, Julie McKnight, Jody Watley, Blaze and the list goes on!

The main reason why this CD stands high above the rest of ITH series, is it's classic approach. Jazzy Jeff blends together good old funk classics with some modern house tracks. Yet, he leaves out some of the dancefloor tracks from this or previous year. It has those surely selected tracks that all play their part well. It works! All the way!

It's hard to review the compilation which includes tracks that have pages of stories to tell.

I'll just put it short, if you "consume" a bit more music than the avarage bloke, you need this one!

I like it........2005-01-27

This is a quality release, and well worth having in your collection. I agree that Dimitri From Paris has done better(Night at the Playboy Mansion), but that doesn't mean that these cd's aren't very good as well. I especially love disc 2. Which is good because the theme is just that,love.The songs are very upbeat. It puts me in a good mood every time I listen. Sure, there are one or two tracks that I don't really care for. But the good songs vastly outweigh the bad. And I personally don't mind a little disco with my house. Listen and judge for yourself.

Dimitri in the Disco.......2005-01-27

House is DEFINITELY a stretch here. I think a couple of songs would fit this description, but for the most part, it's good ol' disco. Let's just call it what it is, I think everyone would be happier. I love Joey Negro, and how he puts disco INTO house music, and I know Dimitri is fully capable of this... but not this time. For the money, I would have preferred something much much different. Look to the other sets in this series for pure house, look to this set for disco.

For Disco-House Fans.......2004-11-02

Bought this a few months ago. Wasn't sure what to make of it, after getting addicted to M. Doyle's "Hedkandi" series (Serve Chilled and Beach House are the best from that label). After putting it into rotation in my car, after a few weeks, it really started to catch on (some albums take time to filter through your senses). I do agree with most reviewers here. Disc 2 is far and away a better, more creative, powerful, fun-spirited mix. As the subject heading reveals, these discs are really more disco-house, than anything else. A lot of the tracks on Disc 2 are great re-mixed songs intricately strung together, and not just digital beats jammed together as in more techno-oriented house (which I found to be true on the last disc I bought of his, Dimitri - International). If you're into more Disco-flavored House, this will certainly work for you.

Not his best, but still good.......2004-10-20

I didn't think this was his best CD at all. However, I do recommend for one track called "Mon Amour" by Louie Vega. That is the cut! Very spacey and worth checking out. Everything else was just kinda boring. I think his Salsoul remix CD or even "A Night at the Playboy Mansion" is alot better.

Dimitri does disco once again, but he's capable of much more.......2004-07-13

Defected's In The House series is arguably the most solid house music compilation series as of late, and if you've heard Jay-J & Miguel Migs' or Simon Dunmore's In The House CD sets, you probably felt like your search for high-quality deep house music was over. Taking you back to why you loved those Nude Dimension and French Session CDs several years ago, those sets likely still reside in your home or car CD player's rotation.

Dimitri From Paris, who is known more for his exquisite disco selections as opposed to his house sets, very unfortunately delivers an uneven mix of mostly uninspired tunes. There are moments of greatness in this mix, and you'll know them when you hear them, but for the most part, I think he could have delivered a much tighter and effective mix if this had been a single CD affair. I like the value of getting 2 CDs, but not at the cost of quality.

If you like mixed disco, track down his classic My Salsoul import CD, which is classy, expertly mixed, and a nostalgic walk down memory lane for those who enjoy the genre. If you want to hear Dimitri do his house thing, Monsieur Dimitri's De-Luxe House of Funk is deep, sophisticated, and funky. Teddy G.'s Captain Dobbey in this mix is one of the most bumpin' champagne-sippin' moments I've ever heard.

All-in-all, Dimitri's In The House is an average mix from an artist who is capable of a whole lot more.

Tight funky house that avoids tidious tendencies........2003-09-15

I want to give this work 4 &1/2 stars. Almost all of the tracks here are good tunes. The mixing is solid and thoughtful. I like CD. 1 the best but CD. 2 has some nice efforts on it as well. Most of the beats are 4/4 house but they are varied enough to avoid that mediocre house curse. Highlights for me are the Mike Dunn, Deepah Ones, and DJ Gregory tracks. If you like Osunlade, Hed Kandi, MasterCuts, Miguel Migs, Soulfuric Sessions etc. you'll probably like this a lot.

I love the Defected in the House series to begin with but the Miami 06 tops it! So beautiful mixed and lusciously sexy. Disc 3 alone could be released as one of the best comps of the year! Highlight tracks are Axwell feat Steve Edwards - Watch The Sunrise (Bob Sinclar Remix), Blaze feat Barbara Tucker - Most Precious Love (Sergio Flores Remix), and Jay J - With Him (Original Mix).

CD3 is Good!.......2006-03-24

Very brief review here, CDs 1-2 have a lot of vocals. Not into vocals too much so if it weren't for CD3 then I wouldn't recommend it.

CD3 is really good deep mellow underground hard vibes make this a very good cd to listen to.

Krivit is in Da House!!!.......2006-01-04

Another a fantastic protoge of Mr Krivit's session with the infamous house label Defected straight out of the UK. Danny Krivit from the 718 sessions, and Body & Soul mixes it up with a brand of soul, disco, and funk with his choice of deep jazzy house through a 2 mix cd. A 3rd cd is also included with selected unmixed tracks for Dj's to drop down through a soulful set. I highly recommend this cd to any of Danny Krivit disciples, and would definately check out other titles of his mixes!!

Good House Set, Solid Funk set, Good Remix set.......2005-08-25

Danny Krivit's a dj out of New York that's got quite an affinity to House, Soul & old school. What I dig about him and his style is that it doens't necessarily matter how old a cut is or how it grooves, he'll still slap it on a cutting edge set and turn the set out. This is his release on Defected's "In the House" series and it certainly lives up to the its predecessors (Jazzy Jeff, Joey Negro, MAW, etc.).

This is a mixed series and Disc 1 is easily my favorite of the series. It starts out with Krivit's remix to Brand New Heavies' "Stay This Way" from the early nineties. Then you're taken off with "Fly" by 280 West. Nadirah Shakoer's "Just a Breath Away" had a good beat and dive in it that I really dug. There's a good series after "Wet African Guitar" before the energetic cut in of "Yukihiro Fukutomi's "Peace" - the entire song is too much, he put in just enough. However the real genius in the production on this cd comes in a 4 track session that kicks off with Gary Michael Wade's "Deep Down". The soulful vocal is sweet, but mixing in a CLASSIC Detroit/Urban Resistence house track from maybe 93, "High Tech Jazz", was brilliant. Hey, it doesn't stop there! He followed it up with a bit of bossa with "Uam Uam" remixed; then layed the close of the cut over a mid-way q of a heavenly track by Soul Creation vs GMENA. Real, real festive feel! The Soul Creation cut is so good, I went out for the 12" alone. And that's just disc 1! Disc two is a decidedly different house feel, and has IMO more soul than any of the discs. Not to go too far but the highlights here were by Blaze, Jon Cutler, Sara Devine and Bah Samba while disc 3 has 4 of Krivit's remixes that are spread over the other two discs. The clincher? It's NOT mixed.

I definitely recommend this. There's some quality cuts on here and something for anyone that's a house fan. If you dug Jazzy Jeff's "In the House", you'll probably dig this too. Not all cuts got me on all the discs, obviously. Stephanie Cooke's track wanned and some of the soul on disc 2 was rather fillerish... and what happened to Da Lata? Regardless this was certainly a set that I listed as a summer highlight. This set is also available on vinyl, albeit the 3 different vinyl packs do NOT have all the songs that the 3 discs have, but it does have some of the highlights in their entirety. And if you do like this, I recommend picking up some of the other In The House sets. Be a bit careful though with Krivit's other works... he does a lot of stuff with SalSoul, so it won't all be brand new/cutting edge work.

718 SESSIONS ON DISC !!!!!!!!!.......2005-06-02

Danny has done it again! If you have not been able to check out his infamous 718 Sessions monthly party in NYC then put this disc set in your shopping cart. It's worth it for the tracks by De Lata & Natalie Cole ALONE. Danny has that natural ability to mix the old, the new, the domestic, and the international for a 2+ hour musical journey that bumps! He is truly a NY legend -- right up there with David Mancuso, Larry Levan, and Francois K.

I ordered this and the Defected in the house evissa '04 and they both started off HOT, then went luke warm FAST.
Out of 3 discs there were only 5 songs total that I liked.
I was really let down.

TITE HOUSE BECOMES MORE FUNKY!.......2003-11-12

I'd like to say that if you are thinking about getting this CD, then its probably the best decision you will ever have made if you are into House music that is.... i heard this CD and it rocks right from the start and just doesn't know when to stop. I can't believe house music this funky, jazzy, deep, minimal vocal driven with so much class it's not funny! This is tite house becoming funky at the max! Play it loud cause it be a disgrace if it wasn't given the honour!
