By the time Orbital released its fourth album, the Hartnoll brothers were strongly tipped as techno heavyweights alongside more commercially palatable prospects like Underworld and Prodigy. Yet, instead of catering to the curious, they presented their most self-indulgent album to date with In Sides. Packaging the 24-minute symphonic track "Out There Somewhere?" with the loopy psychedelic flight of "P.E.T.R.O.L.," they created a most unusual and intriguing collection. Despite their best efforts, though, "The Box" still packed the same insistent rhythm that made "Belfast" such an indelible club staple, while a bonus disc featured live versions of "Satan," "Halcyon," and the duo's streamlined themes from The Saint. --Aidin Vaziri

The term Irish tenor may be fraught with as many wrong-headed, anachronistic characterizations as any phrase in music. But Ronan Tynan not only returns here to the PBS airwaves that helped spread his fame as a member of the Irish Tenors trio, but he overturns a few clichés while delivering a live concert (recorded at the Royal Dublin Society in June 2002) that encompasses everything from Broadway and pop chestnuts to Italian operatic repertoire. Tynan rewards Irish traditions old and new (a medley of Brian Kennedy's and U2's "Life, Love & Happiness"/"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For") and even makes left turns into folkie songstress territory (Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," Sarah McLachlan's "Angel"). Backed by RTE Orchestra, the unlikely international star invests himself completely in all of it, his strong, crystalline voice playing off the traditions, while forging strong new bonds with the contemporary. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:

Out There Somewhere Part 2.......2007-04-07
However, with that said, I will say this... Out There Somewhere Part 2 is quite possibly the best track Orbital has produced to date. An amazing ending to the album with interlaced loops that work perfectly. The last 5 and a half minutes to the track are Orbital at their best. Oddly enough it sits in one of my least favorite Orbital albums. The track along with Adnan's and the Box part 2 simply saves the album from sub-par status. The bonus CD is not memorable.
Should you buy the album, yes but simply for the above mentioned tracks (In my opinion they are worth it). If you want to hear Orbital on all cylindars, listen to Track 8, you won't be disappointed.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that the earlier versions of the album came with a 28 minute version of the Box on the bonus CD. Great track, good luck locating that rare bonus CD.

Get it while you can!.......2002-09-26
Thanks to all who have listened to the fans' requests for producing this collection because now I have some of my favorite songs in one place, in one well-made collection that can go with me anywhere! Songs like "4-Neu", "Sacred Heart" and "Navigation" exemplify OMD's ability to make sweet, beautiful and almost surreal music. These songs are a good example of why I've loved OMD for this long and will continue to do so until my dying day. "Garden City", "The Avenue", "Firegun", "This Town", "Gravity Never Failed", "Burning" and all the rest... these are all fantastic songs that poor deprived OMD fans have got to hear!! If you love what OMD does for music, then you will love this album. It is a MUST BUY for anyone who calls himself an OMD fan.
In my humble opinion, there isn't enough OMD in this world, and at the same time, their B-sides are so much harder to get nowadays compared to when I built up most of my collection. Really now... how many fans can say they've seen and own "Crush -- the Movie", an OMD documentary? I only have it because I was at the right place at the right time.
The record companies need to dust off their copies of OMD songs and videos and share with the rest of us already, make it more easily accessible! ...
Anyway, I love this collection. I recommend it. Go for it!!

Album Description
Set amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief, Sing, aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as "Pig Sty Alley," Sing attempts to extort money from one of the ordinary locals, but the neighbors are not what they appear. Sing's comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face.The exotic original score by Raymond Wong is complemented by the film's classical pieces, notably Sarasate's acclaimed "Zigeunerweisen" and Khachaturian's famous "Sabre Dance."

As a collector of various movie soundtracks, there are many times when I am utterly dismayed by how unrelated they are to the movies they are supposed to complement.
The Kung Fu Hustle CD, however, is far from any of that! I watched this movie four times in the theater, and every time, the music just mesmerized me from start to finish! The movie was great, and the music was even better!
I quickly ordered the soundtrack from Amazon.com, and when it arrived, I was far from disappointed. This CD is fantastic! It does not leave anything out. What you hear in the movie is what you hear in the CD from beginning to end. The tracks are even in order of which they appear in the movie!
If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, then the soundtrack is definitely for you. Go forth! Purchase the soundtrack, and prepare to be pleasantly entertained by the delightful music!

Album Description
From Grammy winner, Darlene Koldenhoven, this 'anything but traditional' CD "Heavenly Peace" was selected as "Best Holiday CD" by New Age Magazine; "Album of the Month" by The New Times, Seattle; and debuted #2 on the New Age Voice Radio Charts. This glorious collection of original and traditional songs (some non-seasonal) with non-traditional arrangements will evoke that special holiday spirit all year long. As producer of this successful inde release, Darlene chose or composed and arranged most all the songs to tastefully feature her expressively soaring, angelic, five-octave vocal range, with or without lyrics. The lyrics touch upon the spiritual and emotional sides of all the characters involved in the Christmas Story, while the music and production reflect elements of classical, world, jazz, and new age. A serene and joyful celebration with mostly synthesized accompaniment and acoustic soloists on various traditional and world instruments. If you liked her featured solo, "Aria," in "Yanni, Live at the Acropolis" you'll love her vocal and keyboard work here. With plenty of musical interest for attentive listening, this album will also create a soothing background ambience. From comments by radio programmers, to listeners world wide, EVERY track on this album is musically and spiritually satisfying. Heavenly Peace . . . indeed!Customer Reviews:
An Awesome Experience.......2005-01-08
Beautiful Voice.......2002-11-19
Heavenly Peace, indeed!.......2000-11-28
As the album continues to cast its spell, one quickly develops an appreciation for all the unique ways that Koldenhoven informs the holiday musical legacy, making new even the most familiar tunes and, simultaneously, the wonder of the Christmas story. Even more remarkable than her crystal-clear five-octave instrument (from below second alto to up, up, and away) is the fact that she manages to exploit its full range without showy, gimmick-laden histrionics.
Several original compositions, including the wordless "Angels' Pastorale," add depth to the listening experience, and the sensitive lyrics (especially on "Joseph's Question") are worthy of the delicate settings that cradle them. Even the best-known tunes are so imaginatively delivered that one may be more tempted to wonder where one has heard the song before than to (attempt to) sing along. "Silent Night," packaged a bit like The Manhattan Transfer's version, comes the closest to sounding like something I can use as a basis of comparison, although if you're a Sarah Brightman fan, this collection will surely appeal to you, as it mines similarly etheric stylistic territory. It even closes with Koldenhoven's heartfelt (and superior) take on one of Brightman's signature tunes, "Pie Jesu" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem.
Although hers isn't a household name, you may know the artist for her work with Yanni (she sang "Aria" on his Live at the Acropolis video and his In the Mirror CD), 2+2 (a jazz group with whom she earned three Grammy nominations and one award), or Inner Voices. The latter all-female quartet's 1990 Christmas Harmony is one of those very few holiday releases that have made my playlist every year since its release. I know that Heavenly Peace will join that special group of discs next year, and every year from then on.
