Dead Moon is an exception to the rule. For most bands, a live album is a toss-off, either a hastily assembled package released as a stopgap until the next studio project or something shoveled under management's door as a half-spirited contract fulfillment. For Dead Moon, a live album is like church on Christmas: an occasion for reverence and genuflection. Recorded somewhere in the Slovenia--in Europe Dead Moon are treated like living treasures--Hard Wired gives 20 songs that detonate with everything that is rock--a grizzled passion that can't be explained or faked. Check out the riffs spat through clenched teeth on "Goin' South," or Toody's gruff, sentimental vocal on "Cast Will Change." Elder statesman singer-guitarist Fred Cole switches back and forth from a Steve Marriott-like growl to some totally crazed yelping, all while Toody and Andrew flail away frantically in support. Sloppy? Yes, it certainly is. Pretty? Only in a bruised-heart sort of way, like on the surprisingly poignant "Somewhere Far Away" and "Running Out of Time," where Fred and Toody harmonize like an older, more weather-beaten John Doe and Exene. Dead Moon is like a classic muscle car that positively shreds the competition on a homogenous rock highway full of sissy, bland four-door sedans that were never built to last. --John Chandler

5 out of 5 stars excellent live show on cd as well as in person.......2001-09-11

I just saw this band last night, and their energy on stage is amazing. Hard Wired is a great collection of their older songs, and definetely captures what makes them so good live.

2 out of 5 stars if you are buying cuz of Pearl Jam don't..........2001-08-17

The Ramones meet AC/DC. A live record with the song covered by Pearl Jam. Not a great recording. The songs are good, would rather hear studio versions. If you are looking to buy cause of the Pearl Jam song.. don't waste your money. Otherwise they are a good band but the production is no good!

5 out of 5 stars Real Rock N Roll.......2001-01-17

Fred Cole has been around since he was the lead singer for the Lollipop Shoppe when he was 16 years old in 1966. Him and his wife Trudy formed the Rats in the mid 70's, some great well written punk music. I have a couple of the records. Then they did some country punk before it became popular. I have seen Fred and Trudy live a few times and they are great. Dead Moon has put out a bunch of stuff since the 70's, try to find the out of print stuff. have fun,EVL.. PS. The Rats and Dead Moon had a great impact in the NW with Punk and Country Punks.

1 out of 5 stars Netherlands?.......2000-08-09

If it is called Hard Wired in Ljubljana, why was it recorded somewhere in the Netherlands? Ljubljana is in Slovenia--a country on the other side of Europe...

5 out of 5 stars Dead Moon Is The Best Thing Going In Rock 'N Roll Today.......1999-06-28

While Dead Moon's "studio" albums are nothing short of brilliant, anyone who has seen them live knows that they are beyond comparison. Which is why both Dead Moon live albums are so great. As opposed to most live albums, which are all dolled up and clean, Dead Moon live albums are the closest thing to being there. Definately a great purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Hard Wired gives a Glimpse of Live Dead Moon.......2003-04-05

This album is remarkable for really capturing a lot of what makes Dead Moon the best live show ever. Toodie's remarks about the WC, the band thanking the opening band - these are so indicative of Dead Moon. Song selection is excellent, the set list captures most everything from a standard Dead Moon Show. The mix works too, a bit scratchy at times, but its all there. The enhanced CD is fun, but I really want a full length concert-documentary on this band. Truly an inspiring group, and worthy of five stars. ...

5 out of 5 stars Pure brilliance from begining to end.......2005-01-18

This is one of those rare albums where there's no fluff or filler. Every single song is of the highest quality. Plastic Angel is among the very best Electronica artists. This band may not be very familiar to a lot of people, but Electronica fans this is a MUST for your collection. Absolutely brilliant through and through.

5 out of 5 stars why you should buy this cd.......2004-10-31

so you think to yourself "why should i buy this cd?" The answer is simple. this cd is quite possibly the greatest trance cd i have purchased in the last 3 years. I originally bought it for only one song that was on here, "heaven and hell" (greatest song EVER!!!!) but, as i always do when getting a cd, instead of going straight to my favorite track and leaving the others to lay forgotten for the sake of the "only" hit on the album, i listened to the whole thing and loved all 68 minutes of it. track one "be my angel" starts the cd off with a bang, and everything just keeps going uphill from there, in short, you really need to buy this cd. like now really.

Both CD's contain the best in breakbeat\happyhardcore that Scott Brown has to offer. The best song, in my opinion, is his cover of Gigi D'Agostino's "I'll Fly With You" Quite simply the best song on Disc 1. There is also a remix of Scott Browns Elysium, THE song that got me hooked on his music. If you have any of the Happy2BHardcore albums, or Scott Browns previous releases, then this album will not disappoint. If your new to happy hardcore, this album will treat your ears to one of the most hyper sub-genres of techno. The first disc seems to go darker towards the end, but other than that, no complaints. All around it's an awesome CD.

If you like scott brown, forget all the other crap and just go with this album. It has all his good mixes and remixes. Just a great CD all around.
