For Richard Humpty Vission, quantity is king. The man throws vinyl around like a circus performer doing knife tricks, grabbing his 10th record about the time most DJs are still spinning their first. Like Frankie Knuckles on a massive amphetamine dose, Vission's blend of progressive acid house and urban funk becomes a restless sound all its own when he's working at full strength. That sound can be at turns exhilarating or exasperating, depending on how skillfully he manages his high-wire act between variety and continuity. Last year's Shut the F*** Up and Dance was an impressive but only half-successful attempt, as Vission struggled to maintain a consistent vibe over the course of that record's 54(!) tracks. Here, having pulled back to a relatively paltry 34, the tracks blend efficiently enough to allow the listener time to take in just how infectiously danceable Vission's manic approach can be. Still, he demands quick, sometimes abrupt, adjustments. When the needle drops on the Adrenaline single "Damn That DJ Made My Day," which justifies its title-track status with an incredibly catchy refrain and mountainous bumps, Vission's sudden switch to a stirring Martin Luther King snippet is just too jarring. Overall, however, he pulls it off, creating a disc that, at times, threatens to fly right out of the player in protest over the sheer number of grooves it's being asked to carry out. --Matthew Cooke

5 out of 5 stars pure house mix.......2003-08-20

RHV comes with only the best this cd should get more credit then it did it has it all acid house, funky beats even a dose of chill out i suggest picking this one up if like pure deep house this the best one since drop that beat.

3 out of 5 stars Buy "Shut the F**K up and Dance" instead.......2003-08-15

After hearing "Shut the F*** Up & Dance" I was really disappointed by this CD. Too many indulgent vocal samples added by Humpty Vision (yes, we KNOW you're spinning the music, we bought the CD for fooksakes) and some of the track selections are absolutely infuriating because they bring the energy level to an abrupt standstill. A lot of tracks are also too commercial/mainstream sounding and lower the gritty funky quality that characterizes Humpty Vision's better work.

1 out of 5 stars Oh No!.......2002-12-23

Sorry but I remember on my way back from the mall I wanted to shoot myself in the friggin leg for buying this cd! Had it since it came out and still have not listened to the whole thing. It may have been a better cd if it was put together properly. Do yourlself a favor and pass it up if youre looking!
