No Longer Trance, and a long trip from what it used to be.......2006-11-05

With a title like "From Trance to Progressive" you would believe that the songs on this CD would take the flowing euphoric/melodic trance that made the previous works great and add to it with more progressive sounds. Sadly, on this album progressive seems to mean one-hit "trance-pop" wonders like dogzilla, with catchy vocal tracks, a repeated chorus, and unnecessary breakdowns instead of melodies. Fans of Armin Van Buuren's weekly radio show A State of Trance will probably enjoy this CD, but any fans of the older A Trip in Trance compilations will find it shallow and wanting.

Worst of the Trip in Trance Series.......2005-12-06

The new sound of trance lately has been the mix of techno, progressive house, and trance. This is the worst in the A Trip in Trance series. What happened to the dreamscape, melodic trance from this early decade?

this album SMOKES. it's only a 1-disc, but it is very very groovy, the year's cutting-edge trance tracks on this album make it a must for trance-lovers.

Pushing the envelope to House.......2006-08-26

I have been an avid fan for the entire "A Trip In Trance" series. However, the sixth installment has me a little baffled. This CD is chock full of of beats that eerily remind me of House. Not that I'm saying the CD is bad per se, but it definitely is not Trance in the truest sense. If you are a fan of Trance, check out the earlier volumes. This is CD is not bad, but it definitely isn't truly Trance.

Somebody call Dream Dance..............2005-06-08

For those of you familiar with the Dream Dance series, the first trance series I ever got into, CD2 of "A Trip in Trance" is how Dream Dance volumes used to be before they started making it mostly mainstream/commercial trance. THIS is the kind of trance I fell in love with! I bought "A Trip in Trance 2" first, then part 3, and now finally the original. Its a shame I waited so long to get this one because I ended up obtaining almost every song on CD1 through other trance compilations. So unfortunately the only use I have for CD1 is for the song "Tranceformation" by Push vs. Globe, a great and rare song! But CD2 makes up for my mistake. Once again, DJ Esquille brings the house down!! If you've noticed, the artists on every CD2 of "A Trip in Trance" series are always the same. And they seem to be exclusive to the series, cause I don't see these guys anywhere else!! They are truly talented. Especially Inner Vibes, Trancepulse INC., and DJ Blackbird. Too bad they weren't on vol.3. I wonder if those artists are DJ Esquille exclusive, cause Plastic Angel takes DJ Esquille's place in vol.3. Hmm. Oh well. This cd is a welcome addition to my collection. So even if you're like me and already have most of the songs on CD1, you more than likely don't have DJ Esquille's awesome exclusive artists. And if you're not like me and don't have or haven't heard the songs on CD1, where have you been? CD1 has most of 2003's hottest trance, and its mixed by Hiver & Hammer, what a treat!!

This is the mix set nobody knows about. This is that double disc set you pray to find. I bought A Trip In Trance not knowing what to expect.

CD 1 (mixed by Hiver and Hammer) is one of the best trance mixes I've ever heard, hands down. Every song man!!! EVERY FRIGGIN SONG!!! I've heard these some of these songs (Mistral, Far From In Love, and Let The Light Shine In) on other mixes but they sound their absolute best here. Each song individually is superb, but Hiver and Hammer add their own flair over the entire mix. It has gut-wrenching peaks, deep bass lines, and sickening highs. CD 1 IS A DREAM. I mean, tears of joy I cry for this masterpiece. This mix will send you on a voyage inside yourself. All you gotta do is play the whole thing through, but do it loud... and on a hi-fi audio system. Of course you know this is perfect driving music as well. If I were you, I would buy this mix, even if the second disc isn't even inside the case. If Let The Light Shine In doesn't give you goosebumps, you don't have a pulse. Far From in Love - CLASSIC. Both of these tracks have moved me to tears. The vocal trance tracks here are the best out there. The ones without vocals are just as good. I cannot rave enough about this mix. GTR - MISTRAL - THIS WILL MAKE YOU DRIVE LIKE A MANIAC. Northern Lights - this one builds and sustains... oh where to go on such a high? ---- I'm gonna put it like this: The opening - Pearl by Midtone... LET'S YOU KNOW what you're getting into. And right after that, Sonorious w/ Protronic takes the mix to an orbit outside this solar system... THE FIRST TIME YOU LISTEN TO THIS MIX - just put it in... after the first two tracks, you should be convinced for life.

Although the second disc pales in comparison to the first, it's still pretty good. It's harder, faster, and more dense than disc one, and some may like that. Emotion and Daydream are the best tracks here, and Touching the Sky works great as the opener. However, some of the tracks on this mix sound a little repetitive. Disc two seems to be more hardcore than disc one...

I've had more time to listen to disc 2 - and I have to say that DJ Esquille is awesome as well. His song selection is amazing. Disc 2 takes much longer than disc 1 to grow on you... but by the time it does, you'll understand why.

ANYWAY... this set is worth buying JUST BECAUSE of Disc 1. BUY THIS NOW!!! NOW!!! NOW!!! ONE OF THE BEST TRANCE MIXES EVER!!!

It's good but not spectacular. Most of them are "you listen to it once and you forget about it" songs. The only songs that I went to play back again were "Otro Dia" and "Touching the Sky". Not as good as I hoped based on these reviews.

this CD was just...amazing, it compiles the best in trance from all over Europe into two amazing mixes
CD 1 is slightly better than 2 but both are quite good, and if you are into female vocal trance this NEEDS to be in your collection
the best songs on the CD are:
Pearl (great for the dance floor with a great backbeat; sounds clearer than any other song ive ever listened to im not sure why)
5 Million Miles
Mistral (i wish there were vocals in this song but it still has the aura and feel of a good trance song, again with a nice backbeat)

Overpowering.......2004-03-17

As a big 'pure' trance fan, this cd set defines it, simply put. Incredible stuff. Hiver & Hammer/DJ Esquille write the rules on trance, done right....Other CD sets along the lines, such as The Mix Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, Great Wall, Nayna, etc...are also great, but a trip in trance is the jewel in my collection for 2003/2004. Only The Blank & Jones I would say can equal A Trip In Trance in overall electronica BLISS.

This whole cd is great ( in my opinion ). just the right amount of noise from the crowd, to where it doesn't drown out armin's set.
The set prgrams nicely.
Its just a constant rise from a more mellow kinda trance to some really good energetic trance. You can really take notice of it from track 8, from there it starts to build up a bit more to some really great quality tracks.

Lange on disc 1 is awesome. Plastic Angel on disc 2 does an even better job. This compilation makes it to my top Trance music for 2003-2004 list. Very Awesome stuff. On par with Blank & Jones and A Trip In Trance 2 and others as well....though if DJ Esquille mixed this compilation, it would be nothing but outstanding.

When I got this cd I was not too happy with cd2 of the set. The first is just mind blowing but the second I wasn't too sure about at first but it's all about keepin' it coming. CD2 has a nice flow, CD1 it's a riot; not much else to ask for.

Great Compilation.......2004-09-22

I bought this set just because I have the first and third, and i needed to hear the gap in the middle. Pretty good, but not as good as the first or third one. The spaced-out, euphoric trance music played by Darren Tate wasn't my thing. just not the melody that i like. But just when i thought all my money went to waste, DJ Esquille came back (on disc 2) and made this compilation stick !
incredible mixing and song selection by DJ Esquille. similar to, but better than his mix on the first trip in trance. until a trip in trance 1 came out, i did not know this dude, but since then i've regarded him as one of the top trance DJs i've heard, to date.

I have a feeling he'll be back in the 4th edition of trip in trance, next year...looking forward to it....

Pretty good for artists I've never heard of before.......2004-09-10

What made up my mind about getting this cd were two things; The first cd was mixed by Darren Tate (DT8) and I love his style, like Jono Grant and Mike Koglin. The second thing that made me get this cd was the abundance of matchups, which I always look for. Afterall, two heads are better than one! Cd 1 has a lot of what I like to call "semi-chill" trance. Now, I'm more of a hard trance fan, but I can definitely appriciate the kind of "soul" trance that cd 1 is loaded with. When I hear cd 1, its such an uplifting and soulful experience. But you've gotta know that my favorites are "Iris", "I feel free", and "Prototype 1", really good hard trance tracks. Cd 2 is just plain ridiculous! If you love hard trance full of hard bass and insane melodies you have to buy this album, you won't regret it! I rate this album 4 stars just on cd 2 alone! My favorite song on cd 2 out of the many, would have to be "Approaching Dawn". What an insane creation! Just when you thought its given you everything its got, it gives you more! I hope to see a lot more of these artists on other compilations, as they are very talented. If you're a trance fan and you don't have this album in your collection what are you waiting for? I was sceptical on the first volume of "a trip in trance", but after reading the reviews on it, it seems just as good as volume 2. So I guess I'll add that to my collection come payday!

Thank God for Trance!!.......2004-05-09

Second installment of the Trip In Trance series. An awesome selection of the hottest trance tracks. What would we do without Trance? Disc one mixed by one of my favorite DJ's, Darren Tate. Wow! is all I can say! This is what Trance is about, music that moves you, hence the word Trance. Euphoric, uplifting, a joyous sound with moving melodies, sweeping strings, very nice mix by DJ Esquille on Disc 2. First time I've heard of him and hope to hear more of him. 5 thumbs up for his mixing as well and his selection of tracks. This is the sound that got me hooked in the beginning, back in 1996-1997 although this sound may have been around a little longer. If you are into uplifting, euphoric, dreamy, beat driven Trance, get this!! You won't regret it!

One of the Best Trance compilations ever!.......2004-04-17

This is one of the best trance cd's i've ever bought. It's a 2 disc set, and although disc one is very good, disc 2 is off the wall! Every track is awesome, the mixing is flawless and you can listen to this cd over and over and over again and not get tired of it. I'm not one to buy my music anymore what with p2p but this was a must have. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes trance and/or dance music.

A great compilation for beginners.......2006-12-25

I picked this up used at a local used CD store for $5, which was more than a steal. The entire CD is well thought out and mixed, in fact- amazing all around. Lyrics are not too repetitive, beats are energetic and offer plenty of variation. Every song is worth listening to. Perfect for speeding through traffic on a crisp fall night. Based upon the other CDs in this series, it looks like it was the last good CD from this series- so work backwards from here. Enjoy!

A real trip !.......2005-03-28

I first was introduced to this series with Vol. 2 , I liked it so much that I've decided to get the cd's of the whole series without even listen to them first !
Vol.4 is really up to date in it's content, at a price that is very much appealing to the customer when you compare with imports.
OK, Let's get down to business now ... Trance has evolved very fast, becoming much more sofisticated. No cheezy "darude" kind of sound here ! Only cuting edge tracks, combining uplifting trance with melodic & techtrance as well , all in a very smooth mix ! GET IT !
