I'm afraid I cannot rate this CD with more than 3 stars because although the recording quality of this edition is quite good by nowadays standards, the selection of the music does not reflect its title. I was expecting more "well known" tunes, more classical styles represented.

I was looking for the UK band with Chris James, whom I recently heard on DJ Shadow's latest, but mistook this album for that group.

The ambient/electronica/jazz mix is smooth and chill, the compositions are good and well produced. It's respectable, but not particularly spectacular.

Personally I feel artists like Zero 7, Esthero, Imogen Heap, etc. have done much better with their forays into this genre.

Nu-Jazz meets Electro in Scandinavia.......2003-11-26

Art of no State, released on the ever interesting Freerange Label (owned by Jimpster, who has done some amazing remix work and production in the underground house scene over the past decade), offers a diverse listen, ranging from unbreidled electro to nu-jazz (not forgetting the Hammond organ of course). While not the most balanced of releases, and having some serious weak spots, the 10 tracks grow on you, making it on of those albums you can keep playing. Caution though, you will not be able to get the vocals of track 1 out of your head for a long long time!

10 awesome tracks........2003-07-09

I'm a fan of electronica music but with so many artists and sub genres to choose from its hard to know what to listen for. So I stumbled upon this CD via Comcast's electronica channel. The song "Inner City Winter" was being played and I was instantly hooked. So I bought the cd and it all sounds great. Each track sounds different from the other so it hops around music such as jazz or latin music or house style stuff. Most of the tracks are 6 minutes or longer and every track has a vocal on it from a female and male artist. This cd has its own groove to it and its hard to just listen to one song and not listen to a few more to round everything out. Its a great CD for electronica fans and good if u just want some chill out music.

Ahhh!! Real music from a real musician. Great songs, beautiful melodies. Funky grooves, and sensual sexy slow jams. Shampagne and the chill drop a serious Bomb with this record. One of my favorites..

WOWÉ. What a breath of FRESH MUSIC for your EARS! No disrespect to what's been out on the charts so far but it's always great to hear real music by real catz singing and playing their instruments. Each of the tracks has something for everybody from the lovers to the smooth funky rockers. Man....once people get a taste of this new Shampen & the Chill CD, I know it's going to the top of the charts. I heard the CD is selling like HOT CAKES, so I have a few copies because I know it won't be long before someone tells me the CD is SOLD OUT! Word to the Wise! Get your copy soon.... It's a must have!

"On The Way To Heaven", "Love With You", "Here's A Tear From Me To You", "Stay With Me Tonight", and "If I Had To Do It Again" are songs with lots of heart, melody and soul. These songs are perfect for that intimate mood. Shampen's warm voice has a distinctive richness that reminds me of a young Isaac Hayes.

Looking for R E A L flavor "Shampen & The Chill" is giving it to you. Personally I like fat bass and Fat Bass is one of the elements I hear. Vocals lay right over it and fits right in the mix. You can tell "The Chill", are seasoned professionals and they accommodated the vision Shampen has put forth. Very inspiring! Of course this is Real Song Writing and not just a beat with some words slapped on it. What do you get when you buy this album? Something Real! Something fun! Something for everyone! Check it out...

My wife often listens to this CD. That says a lot right there. I have many self produced CDs, but when I want to show somebody what can be done, I put on this CD. However, this is not just a collection of well produced tracks, these are songs with heart and melody and a soulfulness that sticks.
