Product Description
Reset? Another remix compilation? A bunch of recycled sounds that can't possibly top the originals? It may sound a bit suspect, but keep in mind that the core of this project is Peter Kruder's 1999 Peace Orchestra album, nothing less than a landmark- a piece of pure musical genius. If Reset's new versions can't outdo this, it just means that it's hard to climb Mount Everest. But these remixes are still better than 99.9% of comparable output. In other words, no worries. Reset will set any Hi-Fi system on fire. As you would expect from a perfectionist like Peter Kruder, Reset's cast of remixers reads like a who's-who of dope producers. The mixes follow the chronology of the original album, mellowing out its primary futureshock, morphing Peace Orchestra faves like 'Shining', 'The Man', or 'Double Drums' into new monsters of rhythm. Album Description

MUTE MATH's seven-track debut EP, RESET, is guaranteed to be one the most innovative new projects in music this year, fluidly combining elements as diverse as jazz, rock and electronica. Their cutting-edge, distinctive sound melds organic instruments (often pulled apart and reassembled in radical new configurations) with electronic elements ultimately creating a powerful artistic statement.

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE MUTEMATH.......2007-01-09

I owned this cd until one of my friends stole it from me, but I LOVE IT. It is deff worth buying, I'm actually going to a mutemath concert this month and I am extremely excited. Mutemath sounds so different from any other band that I have heard and I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Whoa!!!!.......2007-01-04

Mutemath performed on the 2006 Warped Tour. This is an EP that is just as great as their newer full-length. Everyone comments on the vocals sounding like STing (when he was good in the POlice !!) but they forget to say that the atmospherics on the album are beyond anyone else's music. There are numerous guitars and synths that aren't heard on the first listen. Played at loudest volume, the dynamics change even more. I heard them on Less Than Jake's tour bus for the first time and was instantly hooked. You will not be disappointed. And see them live !!! (They also have a positive message and it isn't shoved down your throat like bad medicine, but rather soothing like a nice Hallz cough drop.)

4 out of 5 stars Unrefined Brilliance.......2006-06-18

Mute Math is a band ready to conquer to world. Combining elements of rock, electro, industrial, jazz, and experimental, they have a sound that at first listen sounds slightly crazy. The second listen, however, was much better--I love it! Paul Meany's Sting-style vocals provide the perfect vibe to their already hopping sound. And if you haven't seen them live, do it! Watching Paul play keytar on top of his piano is a site to behold.

1. Control--3/5-- This is an okay song that stretches itself out to far. If it was about a minute shorter it would be much better, methinks.
2. Peculiar People--5/5--This song rocks! With perfect synths and danceable rythm, this song makes me feel good.
3. Okay--2/5--A really weak song, both lyrically and musically it appears quite uneventful. Especially when compared to the two songs its sandwiched between.
4. Reset--5/5--An instrumental roller-coaster, the drum machine rocks through a series of sporadic rythms with keytar, violin and guitars. I love this one.
5. Plan B--5/5--An electro-rocker! Pure awesomeness. The guitar, the synths, the vocals. Everything is good.
6. Progress--3/5--I like this song a lot, but I have to be in the mood for it.
7. Afterward--4/5--A haunting one minute instrumental.

1 out of 5 stars o.k.......2006-06-02

I actually saw these guys when they opened for Switchfoot. THey were replacing athlete due to a birth in the bands family. I guess if you like bands that are loud, musically untalented and generally obnoxious sounding then this is the band for you. I don't know how anyone can praise their lyrics you can't understand a word the singer says while singing. I really wish athlete had been there, then at least we wouldn't have left during the open set.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound..........2006-06-01

They have a full legnth album available via their Myspace page. Also, if you get the chance, see this band live. They have put on one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. I saw them at The Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans and... Just go see them.

1) Control - Happy flowing verses, driving chorus. 5/5
2) Peculiar People - Amazing vocals and keyboard work. 5/5
3) OK - This track kind of seems uneventful after Peculiar People. However, it reminds me of Radiohead. 4/5
4) Reset - Love at first note. 5/5
5) Plan B - Cool drum work, and tight sounding vocals. Also, my favorite guitar work (after Reset of course). 5/5
6) Progress - This is my least favorite track, but when they played it live and it really was moving. 4/5
7) Afterward - Just a keyboard outro. --

1 out of 5 stars Stay Clear.......2004-03-05

I own a massive collection spanning nearly everything on Compost Records and many many others along the 'broken beat' and 'nu-jazz' genres. Jazzanova, Tosca, Peace Orchestra, 4 Hero, Seiji, Minus 7, Cinematic Orchestra and Bonobo being some of my favourites- I could go on and on. Suffice to say the original Peace Orchestra album was superbly heavy and orginal with a lot of emotional feel. This on the other hand, is rubbish. The tracks are uninspired, repetitive and I know each and every artist here could've pushed themselves a whole lot more. It is rare for me to return a CD, but with this one I did instantly. My advice is stay clear, there really is so much more out there more worthy not only of your money, but your precious time!

5 out of 5 stars Best of The Best.......2002-08-18

This is one of the best remixes I've ever heard. Period! Catchy tunes, very good beats (especially the last tune on the CD), most certianly one of the best chill albums of the 21st Century to date. Get this for your collection!

4 out of 5 stars Great Remix.......2002-07-12

Don't listen to the other reviews... this is Kruder & Dorf with added funk. the layers and atmospheric sound is still well intact except the remixes adds "life" to the songs.... a lot of great remixes here. Its a whole new way at listening to these songs. I did not give it 5 stars cause i don't quite belive anything is worth five. But I highly reommend this. Cheers

3 out of 5 stars Could've done without it.......2002-07-09

Good but not great set of remixes, done by various people, from the last album. But I keep thinking
The Old Formula: make a few successful records and then make a best of/compilation.
The New Formula: Only one record? No problem just do a remix; ...
Wish I'd have waited around until this was used and cheap.

4 out of 5 stars The emperor isn't naked..........2002-07-07

...he simply doesn't have any new material. What does one say to this? With "Reset," the eternal stoners at G-Stone Records have released their third consecutive remix album--interpretations of G-Stone material by other similar-minded artists. But with remixes this good, really, who can complain?

Peter Kruder's original "Peace Orchestra" release was a masterpiece of electronica, but its mood was conductive to an intimate home or headphone experience--not really something you'd bang out at Club Boogaloo. Therefore, the reinterpretations found on "Reset" seek to transmit bits and pieces of the original music into more of a club or dance aesthetic. Most of them succeed admirably.

Ignore Gotan Project's uneasy re-jig and head straight for the Beanfield remix of "Meister Pelz." Vienna hip-hop star DJ DSL's interpretation of "Double Drums" adds a piano loop and great rhythmic ideas--this guy's one to watch. Other notable remixes include Meitz's "Marakesch," Guilliaume Boulard jazzing up "Domination," and Soul Patrol's "Henry." Most everything on here sits nicely on the "nu-jazz" shelf.

The only downer, really, is that the designers did not include any copulating hippies, as found on the original and vinyl "Shining" remix packaging. Shame.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing........2007-04-03

This CD is everything that SYG is live that is lacking in Mutiny! While the full length was a little over-produced, Reset captures the energy that is on full display at the show. From the first track on the CD (an instrumental) it is non-stop 15 minutes of some of the best music I have heard recently. The only qualm I have with SYG is that with both the EP and LP, I still only have 45 minutes of music, while I could listen to this all day. Definitely pick this CD up, you will not regret it.

5 out of 5 stars :).......2006-06-17

One of the most energetic bands I've ever seen live. This CD should become a classic.

Wasn't this their comeback effort after a lengthy absence?Never been all that of a 'big' Psychic TV fan,but I would like to see them tour the states again sometime.'Trip Reset' is a good return for frontman Genesis P-Orridge and crew.Real tough to describe their sound, try industrial experimental.Tunes I thought were nice to check out were "Mother Jack",their decent cover of Pink Floyd's "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun","White Sky" and "Star To Far(Lullaby For Sid)".Might appeal to fans of Controlled Bleeding,Meat Beat Manifesto,Nurse With Wound and possibly My Life With The Thril Kill Kult.

5 out of 5 stars YES!.......2004-07-20

fantastic and mellow noise. one of my favorite albums ever for when im completely overwhelmed with everything. alot different than their other work, my personal favorite PTV album. highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece!!!!!!!.......2000-09-02

After taking a little time off PTV finally came out with this album and boy ist it a good one. This is the album that started me on my Psychic TV craze. I was looking for a new sound and when I randomly picked(as I usually do) this album something awoke inside me and ever since then I have become a PTV head. I now own at least 20 of thier other albums and also Trobbing Gristle and other works with Genesis P-Orridge. And after showing PTV to my friends they were hooked! I think it's safe to say that if PTV were a mainstream band this album would definately be ranked in every music critics Top 10 Best Albums of the Century and I'm not over exagerating. Trip reset is destined to be a classic. And anyone who likes trippy surreal sound-scape music that you can explore will definately love this album.

5 out of 5 stars Absolute Brilliance.......1999-04-06

One of the main reasons I absolutely adore Psychic(k) TV is the inability to classify their style of music. Whether it be pop, rock, industrial, experimental (one album consists in aprox. 40 minutes of overlays of a wolf growling), spoken word, ambience or acid house, this band consistently strove to surprise and expand the minds of their listeners like no other. Trip Reset is another fine example of the bands creativity, delivering a fine mix of sunny pop, foreboding drone, spoken word (an eerie tale of a girl's frightening insight to her mother's murderous intentions), and ethereal hypnotic ambience. Trip Reset is one of the finest examples of PTV's ability to cross myriad musical structures and moods.

From pure simple, minimalistic geto-tek`ish elektro wanderings at some times; too the sci-fi sound of modern days elektro-clashiest outfits; Martin Gretschmann exceeds himself Once Aga-i-n!!! All around I found it worthy of five BUT; I gave it 4 *'s only b/c I feel NO!, "I Know!" that Gretschmann is; at all points in the day, always capable of outdoing himself & there were a few airy bits I know I myself even could have done something extra with personally o_O...!!! Album Description

A CD of works for solo piano. "Thirty-five of the 36 songs in this 'audio storyboard' are individually built around an atmospheric primary chord, counter-rhythms, and a body of notes which creates a potential melody that unfolds bit by bit. 'The Driver's Son' is scored for a narrator, a chorus of 5 people creating 15 voices, an electronically modified orchestra of folk and concert instruments and parts for a lighting designer and a live video animator known as The Guide. The realization for electro-magnetically stimulated piano (1993) heard here employs feedback circuit devices, designed by composer David Meschter, that initiate subtle sustaining tones when placed on the strings. The slowly appearing, ethereal sounds in this piece are 'artificial harmonics' that resonate high in the piano strings when one chord is silently depressed and another chord of the same form but a half-step lower is loudly struck and quickly released. 36 of these, interlaced with 36 'natural harmonics,' were recorded and then the initial loud attack was removed with computer editing. This procedure left a bed of subtle, non-corporeal sounds that seem to lie on the surface of the strings like a cloud, and allowed listeners to hear sounds that normally are only perceived by the pianist sitting a few feet away from the strings."

          Customer Reviews:

          5 out of 5 stars mama mae.......2004-12-10

I purchased this album while in Milan. I saw the band in concert the night before and was blown away. This music is incredible.

I would alos suggest Litfiba's Intinito... a little less edgy but also worth the time (4 stars)
