Trancendental Disco Funk.......2006-02-23

I just can't see how anyone can rank on this CD. The "You Are Beautiful" track (titled "Wednesday Night") is actually my fave on this disc... but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This disc is a wonderful ride from start to finish, and I have been content to partake of this euphoric aural candy over and over and over again; never has it disappointed me; always has it enthralled me.

I can't really compare this disc to "Leftfield" by Leftism, other than both discs are sublime; both worthy of repetition, both with great beats, rhythm and timing; both with uplifting (but not schmaltzy) messages, but most importantly of all; both with sublime and timeless music that holds your attention for extended periods of bliss. The nature of each is as different as kumquats and plantains, but both are fruit that that is sure to energize the soul, satisfy the mind and move your feet.

Free your mind... well, you know the rest.

If you don't know what band or CD is about, then listen provided samples. A great mix of 70's funk, acid jazz, dub, samba ....
can't sit with this cd on.......

Kicking GROOVES!.......2001-01-23

I am a DJ on the weekends (house, world beat, tribal...etc) and I gotta tellya, from the first beat to the last, this is ONE HOT disc! For me the best tracks are 1, 2, 3, 7,8, and 12! This disc is just jumpin with tribal beat, house, and a very very slick mix of everything in between. The tracks merge, there is no stopping point or a starting point for each track...it just all flows together in one very long trancendental groove trip. Don't mishear this review as, "Oh its just another trippy, over produced trance beat". Its not like that at all. I first heard this disc at DanceJam in Berkeley and it blew my socks off! Its now part of my stable of music to play for my grooves. Get it! Own it! Pull the shades down if you have to just so you can dance to this, you won't be sorry about buying this disc, at all!

I've heard great things about DSS, and that's obviously the case here too. A word of warning must be made for purists, however. As nice as it is to get a somewhat less than subliminal self-help seminar (YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL...) in music, I'd prefer more music and less shmoozing on the mike. I'd give a nod of respect to the bilingual inclusion si las palabras no fueran tan tontas.[too poppy] The stink of disco is also rife, making it hard to groove with a clear conscience. This is a unique act, undoubtedly more interesting live than the average loopers, but they do not excell on any particular level.

Solid album!.......2000-02-21

This is a lovely creation of some truly beautiful tracks. A clever mix of latin, house, and some killer grooves. Put this one in your CD tray, dim the lights, and look out...it'll floor you.

FUNKY HIP HOUSE...DEEP HOUSE!.......2001-08-17

This disc IS NOT a frisbee, but whirlng dirvish of beat! Its NOT techno! Its a flavorful blend of congas, d'jembe's, beats, (cleverly mixed by mark farina!) into some of the finest house IVE EVER HEARD. I can't get enough of this stuff. I loved this groove so much that I named my dance after what it made want to do, "GROOVE". (groovejam in northampton mass). This disc is well worth the purchase...I got the US version...I dont know if there is any difference between this version and the US Version...but I just had to refute that joker who stated that they didn't know what techno dweeb would like this and used it for a frisbee....some folks just have ZERO taste! I first heard this disc at DanceJam in berkley and it TOTALLY rocked the house, had the room groovin for a solid 10 minutes! You be the judge...get the disc and be prepaired to MOVE!

had to respond, if for no other reason than to dispute the last commenter. this music is not techno, my friend, it's deep house / dub music. it's an amazing album, full of congas and funky bass and some great lyrics and beautiful positive vibes, and never once let's you stop boogy-ing and having a good time. don't take my word for it... listen to it, buy it, love it. the dubtribe folks can bring the kind vibe, my friends....
