Lots of vinyl on two CD.......2002-03-15
There is an alternative release of this CD called "Twelve Inches," that apparently replaces Relax (new york mix) with Relax (doomsday mix), and replaces Watching the Wildlife (die letzten) with Don't Lose What's Left Of Your Mind.
I've recently gotten hooked on Frankie again -- it all start with the 2001 Remixes album. If you like(d) Frankie, I recommend getting this CD and the 2001 mixes. They've been in constant rotation at my house.

Incorrect tracklisting on AMAZON.......2007-02-10
Here is the correct tracklisting, for those interested/considering a purchase:
CD 1
1- Warriors (Attack Mix feat. Gary Moore)
2- Relax (New York Mix)
3- Two Tribes (808 State)
4- Pleasuredome (Fruitness mix)
5- Rage Hard (Stamped)
6- Warriors (Attack Full - this one is interesting; it seems to comprise of a medley made-up from the WARRIORS b-sides [which were instrumental/dub versions of the song]. The name "Attack Full" seems incorrect, but the track is great)
7- Beobachtungen Im Wilden Leben (Die Letzten Tage Der Menschheit) (german remix of Watching The Wildlife, very different)
8- War (hidden)
9- Disneyland
CD 2
1- Warriros (Turn Of The Knife Mix)
2- Two Tribes (video destructo)
3- Pleasuredome (Escape Act Video Mix)
4- Rage Hard (Freddie Basstone Mix)
5- Power Of Love '93 (alternate mix)
6- Relax (Sex Mix)
7- Watching The Wildlife (hotter)
8- Rage Hard (broad)
9- Two Tribes (Hibakusha Mix)
OVERALL it's a great compilation of mixes, many rare and difficult to obtain otherwise. The sound-quality is top-notch, and the linernotes (by editor of UNCUT music magazine) are quite entertaining/informative.
My only beef would be the exclusion of a few more rare tracks. The CDs aren't full (clocking-in at approx. 65min per), meaning a few more hard-to-find gems (ie. the 2 other Freddie Basstone mixes for "Rage Hard"? the "Starfix" remix of "Only Star In Heaven"? The instrumental pleasurefix mix of "Pleasuredome"?) could have been included.
If you're a fan, well worth your time.

Album Description
A long time ago BBE Records released twelve inch records, in those days London's Soho offered the record buyer a feast of vinyl; specialist stores proliferated, turntables took over from the guitar as every schoolboy dreamed to be the next `Superstar' DJ. The music press was astounded at the survival of the 12" record, despite the major's attempt to quash it.In to this `mix' BBE rose, releasing obscure funk records, and A Bollywood Funk album, as well as kick starting the whole DJ driven compilation genre with its Stop & Listen series.
Fast forward to the now, sadly many of the Soho vinyl institutions have gone (R.I.P- `Catch A Groove', `Mr Bongo', `Atlas', `Quaff Records' the first `Deal Real' & `Major Flavours'), we hope that this album will memorialize a small part of that special dance music history.
Customer Reviews:
bbe a great record label!!!.......2006-01-19
The Barely Breaking Even movement began nearly ten years ago when Peter Adarkwah and his partner Ben were discussing music and discovered a shared interest in diverse, eclectic sounds covering all genres - from old scratchy Brazilian grooves, through 70's funk, via jazz fusion, hip - hop and soul to newer garage, disco and techno music.
Pete had been DJ'ing at friend's parties for several years and had just graduated to his first gig on the club scene. First and foremost a music lover and collector Pete had discovered a previously unknown aptitude when he started spinning the tunes. They decided to promote a night where the music that was played would not be restricted as it was in other clubs - the new night would be across styles and freestyle.
The first club promotion took place at a tiny club in Chinatown under the name 'Shake It Loose.' The club was a resounding success, but unwittingly another promoter had already employed the name used. A change was necessary and so it became Barely Breaking Even - taken from the seminal track by The Universal Robot Band (re -issued on Dimitri's 'Disco Forever' album in Oct 2000) (and true of the state of finances at that time.)
With the change of name came a change of venue. BBE moved onwards and upwards - promoting at different venues and on different nights but with a fresh attitude and an already distinct style, the nights became more and more popular. Ben & Pete also began to appear as guest DJs elsewhere and DJing and promoting became a full time occupation.
Despite being busy with club activities, Ben & Pete decided to move in to the record industry, founding a label named after the Promotion Company. BBE Records began with releasing the acclaimed 'Stop and Listen' series late in 1996, a series still running strong with the last instalment having been compiled by The legendary Masters At Work. The ball has rolled on and on since then.
Having single handedly run the label since early 2000, Pete has continued to develop the label, taking it to new heights. BBE model's itself on the motto of 'real music for real people' and this is clearly seen by the fact that there are now over 40 compilation albums released, profiling a variety of sounds and styles from funk and soul to disco and Latin as well as house and hip hop. Compilers from home and abroad have been brought in to add their expertise and in turn the label has aligned itself with many artists as well as genres of music.
This association with artists has been strongly built upon by the introduction of the Beat Generation; a series of beat based albums from a number of exceptional and pivotal hip -hop producers. The ethos behind this series was to allow these producers to create albums that drew from all their influences and all the sounds that had in some way contributed to the music they had made and continue to make. The series kicked off to a fantastic start with Jay Dee's 'Welcome to Detroit' (shortlisted for the American Award for Artistic Achievement) and this was shortly followed by Pete Rock, Will.i.am (of the Black Eyed Peas) and Marley Marl. Each album is an individual experiment but also enables the series to flourish in its aims and the music it is exhibiting.

There are two versions of this compilation.......2002-03-15
I think the most outstanding track on this CD is the 17 minute sex mix of Relax. All these years I thought the 8 minute new york mix was the only remix. Silly me -- I should have known, since Frankie releases multiple remixes of every single.
Top Notch.......2002-02-14
And if you know Frankie you will know that all the mixes are something special, amazing, everytime !
Enjoy ...
