3 out of 5 stars While It's Not Horrible, It's a Weak Buddha Bar Entry.......2007-04-10

First, it is disappointing as I flat out think Claude Challe is brilliant and before this CD - thought he was infallible. He has put together some not just great CD's but CD's that forever haunt you - they are that brilliant! With that bar set, it's hard when he delivers anything less than a revelation but sadly, this CD is such a case. It's mostly pleasant and interesting but just doesn't haunt you like most Claude's mixes that seem to weave in and out of your subconscious and brain - this one is just "okay," for a lot of other mixers, that would be fine but for Claude - this seems far below him ... what also hurts are two flat out spoken word tracks that are so treacly - you actually shudder and feel a little queasy - they are just wretched. As someone who owns thousands of Cd's, it's rare I want to immediately hit stop or want to figure a way to tape up the Cd so those tracks NEVER play again. So, I can see why newcomers might be so turned off by those tracks ... while Buddha Bar is usually not just reliable but excellent - this is definitely the last one to pick up in the series or avoid entirely as the best tracks can be found elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars Great Music I won't stop listening........2007-03-09

Great Music I won't stop listening. Very enlightening and soothing.

5 out of 5 stars The Buddha Bar.......2007-02-08

Buddha Bar is a very trendy bar in Paris. It is from there that this and other Buddha bar CDs come from. DJ Challe put together the first and second one. There are a bunch of them now. This one, Buddha bar II is interesting because one can hear Demi Moore singing next to Deepak. There are great African and Latin beats too.
delivery was super fast and got it in great conditions, the company goes to great lengths when it comes to packaging. many thanks!

3 out of 5 stars Good music for tuning out .. . with some suggestions .. .......2006-06-25

Big fan of the Buddha Bar series .. always the best music for all kinds of late night chillout sessions. Love the asian vibe to them .. And if you like that sound, I've recently discovered some more authentic tunes you'll love: Hong Kong's "Celestial". Check them out, they are titled:

Hong Kong Dub Station
Happy Valley
Spirit House

And these album probably take a deeper step into Asia, possibly because they originate from there.

1 out of 5 stars I had to say something...........2006-01-22

I have read many, but never written a review before. I felt compelled this time. I recently purchased this CD and thought it a collection of the most ridiculous music ever. There are a couple of nice tunes but what seems like it may have potential, is abruptly destroyed by some incongruent whim.
Thinking perhaps that I was being a musical snob, I asked the opinion of a friend. She and I laughed so hard at how awful it was, so, I went for a third opinion. The result was the same. In fact it got worse with each listening. We've decided that it will make a nice "booby prize" for my next party. Avoid this like the plague. It is musically inconsistent, non-relaxing and a complete source of irritation. If you want your dinner guests to leave early by all means play this.

5 out of 5 stars A Loop in Time Wally Brill Track is Awesome.......2004-10-23

I first heard Wally Brill track online at Soma FM, and was captivated by the sound. Very neat beat, even my girlfriend who isn't much into the modern electronic music thinks its one of the coolest songs she's ever heard. I'm buying hte album, thats all there is to it.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2002-04-09

Guys, this CD is awesome. It has so many different rhythms on just one CD that you can listen to it for dancing, gathering with your friends or just relaxation. It has a little bit of everything from all around the world. i hardly recommend it. It's a great buy.

5 out of 5 stars No frills chill.......2000-09-15

This album sends out a chilling reminder to the great pretenders who have jumped onto the chill-out wagon.

Perfect selection of soft melodious tracks that harmonise with Claude's seamless mixing. Salut! For this set based on very laid-back vibes.

Whether you are longing for a mellow night-in or a chill-out session after a hard night-out, miss this album at your expense!

4 out of 5 stars Nice introduction to artists you might not normally hear.......2000-08-04

This came highly recommended by friends who live in Paris. The 2-CD set comes in "dinner" and "party" sets which led me to believe that one set was faster or more dance-oriented than the other, but they are surprisingly similar. Very soothing and mostly eastern/asian-influenced rhythms that are great as Sunday morning background music as you read the paper, or at an intimate dinner party, or even for background music at a cocktail party. I think it would appeal to a wide range of tastes and ages. I have no idea how this compilation compares to the Buddha-bar I mix.

5 out of 5 stars Pop/rock/rap/hip hop is dead. This is the new music.......2005-10-11

Great mixture of ethnic yet universal songs. Recommend all Buddha Bar CDs.

5 out of 5 stars Keep the Dream Alive..........2003-03-13

Buddha Bar II is one of the great elements of the series. I would say it's the Water element, the first Buddha Bar is Earth, Buddha Bar III is Wind, and Buddha Bar IV is Fire. I am anxiously awaiting the release of Buddha Bar V, due in late March of 2003, just days away. Each compilation in the series is unique, and all are essential and captivating, providing the tools for the listener to cultivate self-examination and appreciation, wisking them away to another world. Listen, I'm the Type-A kind...an organizer, a planner, a stresser, a perfectionist. I am learning to expend my energy more intelligently and produce even greater results by doing so. It's never too late to learn how to relax, to believe there is a need to relax and to believe that you deserve to relax. This CD, and the rest of the series, have become an integral part of recharging my life and also sharing an international language with others. It's a welcome, guilt-free experience in smoldering seduction, ebb and flow if internal and external energy, and spiritual well-being. A financial investment worth making, especially in our current social climate. Just play it and...enjoy the journey!

5 out of 5 stars the magnificient series of buddha bar.......2003-01-26

The Buddha bar serie of albums is one of the best recopilations of modern music in the last years

4 out of 5 stars great cd, definitely different.......2002-11-26

cd no 2 is my favorite, if you cant seduce a woman with the song with demi moore you need to find a new girl, beats are tranquil enough to be transcendent yet fast enough to keep you awake, one of the better budha bar cds

5 out of 5 stars A complete treat.......2002-08-15

This is a fantastic Set like all the Buddha Bar sets it is full of wonderful surprises. I like this one the best so far but I would never trade the other two for all the tea in China. The first Cd "Dinner" is perfect for a mellow party, evening at home with a project, or romantic Dinner. It has a cool Eastern/Spanish Jazz feel.
The other CD "Party" Is so Captivating and Diverse it gave me chills when I listened to it the first time. The set gets better each time I hear it, Not a let down at all. It Has a great version of Shaft, I'd buy it just for that song. The second CD is more Dance and groove. I have to force myself not to play the set over and over again. Worth every Penny! GO~N~GIT it!
