New York City club superstar Danny Tenaglia presents a collection of various tracks that range from the garage conventions of "Baby, Do You Feel Me?" featuring '80s "Vanilla Child" Teena Marie to the post-hi-NRG remake of Front 242's "Headhunter." Purists may be disappointed with the absence of the deeper, more musical production that characterized many a Tenaglia remix on his Tribal America recordings, but the sensible bass-and-piano arrangements on tracks like "Music Is the Answer" and the soul-searching "Better Days" hint at Tenaglia's desire to keep his music as real and true to his roots as commercially possible. --M. 5 out of 5 stars the most beautiful music in the universe.......2007-06-15

I just listened to this CD a few times the last couple of
days and I think it is the most beautiful music in the universe,
not to forget Marie's voice.
Been listening to this CD since 1992 gets more beautiful with age.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2007-01-04

I honestly never listened to this CD, but with the way my girlfriend listens to this cd nonstop it must be good

5 out of 5 stars A must for all Roxette fans.......2006-08-19

This one is true blue Roxette albums with their signature style all over it. Calling them classic pop of the 90s would be unfair since their songs are timeless! The live songs are the ones to watch for. It makes you feel as though you were there with them on the stage. All in all a fantastic album and a must have for all Roxette fans!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A true Joyride.......2005-08-31

I hear the songs and they take me back to the early 90's. excelent music

5 out of 5 stars Great all round.......2005-07-13

Like any good album this one really grows on you and it has become one of my all time favourites out of any group. Initially I didn;t like the live versions so much but after awhile they grew on me too. But I particularly love the other songs on this album which I think could have been released as singles and should be listened to by anyone. To me the album has a more folky countryish flavour to it than other Roxette albums but I like that aspect to it. It is a nice mellow album good for listening to on the road. I love the mooing cows on Fingertips, the helicopters on Queen of Rain. I love the nostalgic schoolkid feeling and imagery of Cinnamon Street, and the melancholic melodies of Never Is a Long Time and So Far Away. I love the one two three four, the riff and the Samsonite suitcase of Here Comes the Weekend, the great duo sound of Silver Blue and the quirky edgier lyrics of Keep me Waiting. And I like it when Per sings about the rising sun in Come Back Before You Leave.
Let it grow on you too. A must have

5 out of 5 stars A Classic!.......2005-04-15

My jaw must have just hit the floor upon reading these poor reviews!
1st off, this CD wasn't released last year, but in 98', so for those hoping for the 'new' sound of DT, this is NOT it.
Tourism is a classic work of house music, no doubt about it.
I started listening to Danny at the tender age of 14, and attending his weekly residency @ Vinyl since 99'. This was the 1st cd of his I've ever purchased, and it blew me away.
This was the style which pretty shaped my taste in house... none of the tracks are 'obvious', 'overdone', or 'obnoxious'... just bass, beats, and flawless vocals. The production is superb and in my humble opinion, set the stage for many a dj to come.
If only Danny would still play these nostalgia inducing tracks on the dancefloor.
If you're NOT a cheesy club kid hoping to buy a CD full of drum loops, buildups, and catchy hooks... then this classic is for you! :)

2 out of 5 stars At least the cover is appealing!.......2004-10-23

But like the CD's cover photo, taken from the back of the plane, this un-mixed selection is far from first-class. As many other reviewers suggest, do not expect "Global Underground" or "Back to Basics" grooves. I was expecting more from the "Headhunter" track as well. It's o.k., but lacks originality and personality, and sounds more like the original Front 242 version played through a kazoo. If you buy this CD, get it used, and don't pay very much.

4 out of 5 stars an overlooked classic.......2004-05-01

i purchased this cd on a whim and boy am I glad I did. This has some great "classic" dance tunes that have formed the basic building blocks for dance music today. This is by far one of the best "artist" albums by a dj to date. It's a shame this never received the attention it should have, perhaps one day it will.

5 out of 5 stars standing the test of time.......2004-03-01

Tourism doesn't deserve poor ratings. If people are expecting this 1998 release to be like his newer GU sounds, it could likely be disappointing. Tourism in general sounds a bit more sedated and darker than the GU series. A few songs stand out and still sound amazing, like Element, Headhunter, and Read my Lips. They won't stand out like oldies in the midst of new sounds. These are the types of tunes that inspired GU Nubreed series. Some songs (Turn me On, Do you Remember, Baby Do you Feel Me) on Tourism, however, are a bit outdated from today's perspective. That's not to say that they are no good. In fact, underneat the dated vocals, lies amazing beats that's quite an impressive sound even for today.

2 out of 5 stars Not for Most People.......2001-11-30

If you are a DJ and are looking for some tracks to mix, buy this CD. If you have heard Tenaglia's Global Underground CDs and are looking for more of the same, don't look here. I wasted my money.

Grand Tourism may be French, but they aren't Cassius (not that hyper), they aren't Dimitri (not that kitschy), they aren't Kid Loco (not that stoned), and they aren't Daft Punk (not that '80s disco). Grand Tourism are a group of boys who know their bass; slung way low on the ocean floor beneath the shimmering waves of "Hybrid Story" and "Sweet Sitar Street," bombing down from overhead atop the eerie keys of "Le Surboomer," and creeping like ivy up the walls of your consciousness on "Act of Love." The band's instinct for vocals are slightly less dependable. Jazz-folk legend Terry Callier's soulful croon sweetens "Les Courants d'Air," and Ken Norris's fresh, unadorned reading on "Act of Love" practically makes the album, but Angie B. on "Romantic Hold Up" and the uncredited guy who won't shut up on "Sweet Sitar Street" don't make the cut with deliveries that are far too contrived for an album that so often speaks to the simple pleasures of laidback, funky house. --Bob Michaels

    Album Description

Audio Tourism: Freeform's sixth album continues to push and blur the boundaries between organic/harmonic acoustic sounds and machines. Simon Pyke - aka Freeform (previous releases on Warp, Skam, Ninja Tune, Leaf, Worm Interface) adds a unique travelogue of recordings made during a 3-month journey in China, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Whilst recording the album real instruments, collected during the trip, were used with a kind of playful ignorance. Modified Zither, human beat box through Tibetan horn, electronically processed traditional folk songs and the Vietnamese monochord as the ultimate sub bass machine.

      5 out of 5 stars A Mini Album.......2006-05-01

This certainly does exist. The album is actually called "A l'Ecoute de tes Courbes" and is officially a "mini album". All the tracks are excellently written and mixed although there are a couple of them also on the full-length album "Le Surboomer". Grand Tourism are outstanding purveyors of chilled-out and funky beats - I can't recommend them high enough if you like that style of music. For more information on their releases see www.grandtourism.net

Who the H E double hockey sticks gives a release a single star 'cause he can't find it? Putz! Well it does exist... i'm holding it in my hot little hands right freakin' now. Proof you say? Look at the pix I posted for this bad boy. Got it in Malasia - a Japanese import. Licensed from Atmospherique by Rambling Records. As you can see (see photo) the name on the spine indicates something different than Amazon has listed: "Le Surboomer" ?? don't know what's up with that...

      1 out of 5 stars This doesn't exist.......2005-07-17

This occasionally gets listed at various places, who inevitably will tell you it's "on order". I've checked just about everywhere, and haven't even gotten a tracklisting. So far as I can tell, this doesn't exist. Too bad, as they don't have a whole lot of material, and they're very good.
