Of course, we couldn't expect time to freeze its relentless path and forever preserve the Welsh sensation Charlotte Church in a chrysalis of precocious youth. And yet, at 15 and now taking bolder steps into expanding her repertory on Enchantment, the soprano remains a marvel of a prodigy. Here, she scours a wider range of sources than on her previous albums. Church moves with breathtaking ease from classic Broadway (West Side Story, Show Boat, South Pacific) to traditional Celtic, film ballads, and even a couple of high-operatic numbers. Church's straightforward approach to the melody of "La Habanera" may not exactly be what Bizet had in mind for his Carmen, but fans will get double pleasure out of the singer's exquisite duet with herself on the haunting "Flower Duet" from Delibes's Lakmé. What's more, there's a greater freedom of expression and sense of how to shape a phrase in many of these tracks--notice how much there is to savor, for instance, in "The Water Is Wide" and "Carrickfergus." It all adds up to a widely varied course, demonstrating the continued growth of a singularly gifted young artist. --Sarah ChinCustomer Reviews:

I really don't know why one would NOT enjoy this cd.
Good? Yes. Great? No. Over-rated? HECK YES!.......2006-12-15
As far as feedback on the quality...
It's VERY hard to believe the deliverance of her performance. A 15-year-old (even younger on her debut cd) singing songs about love & being able to see the world seems silly. Cracking voice? Yeah, you can really tell she had a difficult time hitting the high note in The Laughing Song because it got all air-y. Honestly, some trained sopranos over-shoot their high notes too & get extremely SHARP so I didn't mind her air-i-ness. I think she did a great job on The Flower Duet though. It still has the same relaxing quality as some other versions I've heard from various movie soundtracks. But compare this to the likes of professionals - real professionals - she's merely tolerable. Try Sarah Brightman if you want to listen to some nice musical sopranos. She even has some pretty remakes of modern songs.
Enchantment Indeed!.......2006-08-20
Anyways, the CD is genius! Tonight from "West Side Story" is beautifully sung. Carrickfergus, Habanera, and Bali Ha'i are sung with a hypnotizing beauty. Papa, Can you Hear Me and The Flower Duet are amazing as well!
However, on The Flower Duet, Church's vocals seem strained a bit. The Little Horses is a decent piece, a remake of the standard English folk song. I prefer it straight instead of a varied beat, so that Church's voice could soar on and on.
From my First Moment is a fairly nice song, but The Water is Wide is simply amazing! Her vocals are soaring and mezmerizing!
Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man is NOT the song for her, because she puts a weird accent on the song, like she's trying to sound like a hoodlum! The Laughing Song is something that SHOULD NOT be tried by children, because the vocals are so strained! If I Loved You is a simple yet wonderful piece!
A Bit of Earth and Somewhere are both beautiful pieces, with excellent work from the orchestra.
Overall, this CD is very beautiful! BUY IT!

Named after the thriving rap subgenre he popularized, Lil' Jon's Crunk Juice makes no claims to be anything but XXX-rated, hip-hop mosh pit music. Three 6 Mafia's crunked-out compositions may predate Lil' Jon's, but Jon's unique production methods continue to dazzle on cuts like "What U Gon' Do," where protégé Lil Scrappy's vocals create jarring audio effects. The trademark futuristic blend of Miami bass, Jamaican dub, electronica, and punk--littered with call-and-response chants--is in full force on "Crunk Juice," "Get Crunk," and "Da Blow." More impressively, he's broadened his crunk palette to include a brilliant rocked-out Rick Rubin collaboration, along with more conventional R&B tunes featuring Usher and R. Kelly--he even looks to D.C.-style go-go beats for inspiration on "Aww Skeet Skeet." The vulgar yet hilarious Chris Rock comedy cameos help make this album a winner, even if it's intentionally zany and lyrically vacuous. --Dalton HigginsCustomer Reviews:

A Perspective Of An Expert Butcherer.......2007-03-17
1. Voice - Just how can that guy's senseless yelling be tolerated? All this guy does is yell. He doesn't even rap. It's just thoughtless, obnoxious "YAY-YAH" over and over (along with some other stuff). I bet his music couldn't even be considered rap if it weren't for all those guest musicians.
2. Plagiarism - The name "Lil Jon" originated from the Robin Hood tale. It may have a slightly different spelling, but it's just bad enough that he could disgrace history like that. He also uses samples from copyrighted songs and completely butchers the purpose and meaning of that song. I mean, is mixing Slayer's "Raining Blood" intro and Lil Jon's abysmal bellowing necessary? Not at all.
3. "Crunk" - This is also meant to be a plagiarism issue as well, as Dirty South rappers were the first one to coin that phrase. However, Lil Jon wants to take all the credit by taking the word and overusing it over and over so that he seems to be the inventor of that word. Sorry, Jon Smith, but you do not possess credit for creating that word. You just made it into a derivative word that people say, yet they probably have no clue what it means (it means to get drunk and baked).
4. Image - Golden grills make you look like some person who cares less about his dental hygeine. Do you ever remove your sunglasses? And your crunk juice is just a marketing scam.
By all means, avoid this annoying, meaningless, plagiarized trash. Rap isn't (mostly wasn't) just like that way, but thanks to your plague, you have given a once tolerable music genre a bad name.

Placido Domingo's blazing tenor enriches these traditional Broadway show stoppers, supported by mammoth orchestrations in perfect balance and enhanced by his trademark musicianship and intelligence. In "All I Ask Of You," he excitingly explodes like a bursting water balloon. His duet with Carly Simon ("Last Night of the World") works in an intergalactic way--music makers from separate planets can successfully collaborate. In "Send In the Clowns," we are reminded of the tune's prettiness; while others find a poignantly delicate moment, Domingo's personal revelation is the size of Mt. Olympus. And why not? He is a god of song. An exception is made for "Our Love is Here to Stay," winner of the most-likely-to-appear-in-an-elevator award. Overall, a dazzling music experience. --Barbara Eisner BayerCustomer Reviews:
Generally, a pleasant surprise.......2003-01-19
Very pretty!.......2001-01-14
I only gave this album four stars because I didn't care for the arrangements of the songs from "West Side Story" and also because the combination of Domingo and Carly Simon seemed mismatched. The duet with Rebecca Luker, however, in "All I Ask Of You," is what I would consider the highlight of the CD. Their voices blend so well and they have the same classic style. Ted Huffman's boy soprano adds a lot to "Try To Remember," enhancing the soaring prettiness of the melody. The arrangement of "Send In The Clowns" is a masterpiece, while Domingo sings it with convincing sadness. Also his portrayal of "Our Love Is Here To Stay" has the gentle simplicity that I believe the Gershwins meant for it.
As for the rest of the songs, they are just plain GOOD! All in all this is a very enjoyable recording and it goes to the top of my wish list.

The world according to Atlanta-based DJ Lil Jon and his merry band of Eastside Boyz is one of sexually charged dance floors, masculine aggression, and 'nuff bass frequency. Bringing more heat than the cover's burning Confederate flag, the rowdy repetition and call and response on Lil Jon's Put Yo Hood Up are simple yet contagious. Like most southern DJs, Jon isn't much for rapping, but there are plenty of guests to handle mic duty: Too $hort, Ludacris, Kilo Ali, Goodie Mob's Khujo, Three 6 Mafia, and, interestingly, Brooklyn's own M.O.P. What Jon and the boyz do know are bounce-driven catchphrases--"Who U Wit," "Where Dem Girls At," "Bounce Dat" ("Bounce to the beat while you touch your feet!")--that would wear out most aerobics instructors. But with stripper anthems like "Nasty Girl" and "Live at the Blue Flame," the boyz are fixin' to work up a sweat in a whole new way. --'EL JubaCustomer Reviews:

Great Album.......2005-10-28
Here's a track by track run-down.
1)Yall Ain't Ready (intro) - (n/a) - Nothin too special.
2)Uhh Ohh (featuring Khujo of the Goodie Mob & Bo Hagon) - (10/10) - Good track to start off the album. It has a good beat and hook by Bo Hagon. Everyone drops good verses and I'm not dissapointed.
3)Put Yo Hood Up - (9/10) - Everyone's heard it. It's got a great beat and hook. The only problem is there's no rapping on this song.
4)Bia Bia - (11/10) - 2nd straight single in a row. The beat is great and the hook gets your adrenaline pumpin. Ludacris, Chyna Whyte, & $hort Dogg (Too $hort) drop great verses on the Lil Jon beat. It's perfect.
5)Bia Bia Check-In (skit) - (n/a) - Boring.
6)Who U Wit - (6/10) - Dumb song with an actual dumb Lil Jon beat.
7)Let My N**ts Go (featuring Too $hort, Quint Black, & the Nation Riders) - (10/10) - Great song with a laid back beat. Too $hort, Quint Black, & the Nation Riders drop great verses to go along with the hook. Lil Jon has a more upbeat verse that makes the song that much better.
8)Move B***h (featuring Three 6 Mafia, Gangsta Boo, YoungBloodZ, Chyna Whyte, & Don Yute) - (10/10) - Everyone drops amazing verses to go along with the great part of Lil Jon's hook. You already know it's gonna be good with these guests.
9)Heads Off (My N****s)(featuring M.O.P.) - (12/10) - The Best track on the album. The intro is one of the best I've heard and gets you pumped up for the rest of the song. M.O.P. drops great verses on a great beat. I can listen to this song over & over & over...
10)Sexlude (skit) - (n/a) - Pretty funny.
11)Can't Stop Pimpin (featuring 8-Ball, MJG, & Oobie) - (10/10) - At first, I didn't like this song and I don't know why. Now, I love it. 8-Ball & MJG drop good verses and a great hook and singing by Oobie (surprise). Listen to it again if you don't like it at first.
12)Bounce Dat (featuring Chyna Whyte) - (8/10) - Nothin too special. The beat is good but it can get very boring.
13)Nothin's Free (featuring Oobie) - (8/10) - Okay song but it just seems worse when Lil Jon puts it on Kings of Crunk as well as Put Yo Hood Up.
14)Searcylude (skit) - (n/a) - Dumb. Pointless.
15)Where Dem Girlz At (featuring Sky) - (9/10) - This song has a good beat that's similar to the one of Uhh Ohh (track #2). The hook is good and I like it.
16)I Like Dem Girlz (featuring Jazze Pha) - (8/10) - The best part about this song is that you can follow along with Lil Jon's verses and hear what he likes about dem girlz. Jazze Pha doesn't add much to the track.
17)Nasty Girl (featuring Oobie) - (7/10) - Probably one of the worst song on the album. It gets really boring after the first listen.
18)DJ Hershey Live At The Blue Flamelude (skit) - (n/a) - OK skit.
19)Go Shawty Go (featuring Kilo Ali) - (9/10) - The beat is good and you can follow along with the hook. It's a solid track.
20)Outro Chynalude (featuring Chyna Whyte) - (8/10) - It's a skit turned into a normal song. Chyna Whyte drops some of her best rhymes but it's only 2:23 long.
21)Bia Bia 2 (featuring Too $hort & Chyna Whyte) - (10/10) - It's got the same beat as the first one. In fact, it's pretty much the same song. The only difference is Ludacris isn't featured and doesn't have a verse, there isn't an intro like the first one did, & Too $hort, Lil Jon, & Chyna Whyte have different verses. It's still a great track.
Top 10 (not in order):
1)Heads Off (My N****s)
2)Bia Bia
3)Move B***h
4)Let My N**s Go
5)Bia Bia 2
6)Put Yo Hood Up
7)Can't Stop Pimpin
8)Uhh Ohh
9)Where Dem Girlz At

I also want to point out that this $13.99 domestic release version includes the same DVD as the $40 import release, even though Amazon doesn't list it in the description. The DVD is wonderful, capturing a December 2005 performance of the same band that plays on the CD, and includes live performances of 16 songs:
1. Up The Junction
2. Labelled With Love
3. Cowboys Are My Weakness
4. Slap & Tickle
5. Goodbye Girl
6. Lamas Fayre
7. Another Nail In My Heart
8. Tempted
9. Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)
10. Take Me I'M Yours
11. Hourglass
12. Black Coffee In Bed
13. Cool For Cats
14. Encore: Slaughtered, Gutted & Heartbroken
15. Cool For Cats
16. Take Me I'M Yours
Between songs, Chris tells stories about the songs, or the circumstances during which they were written.
The final overall feel of the CD and DVD is a little bittersweet, as Chris mentions in the liner notes that this is his way of closing a chapter in his life (ending rumors of a Squeeze reunion any time soon), but his obvious affection for the songs comes out in the performance, making this a celebration of the band's history, and definitely not a "greatest hits" package designed to make some quick cash.
