5 out of 5 stars Not for fans..........2006-04-20

If you don't have any Faithless albums then by all means get this before you spring for the full collection. It's a good sample of the wonder that is Faithless.

I have all their albums and an embarrassing number of singles, so I got this one in case any of the tracks were different. Sadly the only variation is that some of the tracks are shortened Radio Edits rather than the full track.

If you already have Reverence, Sunday 8pm, Outrospective and No Roots, then better spend the money on the "Why Go?" single import which has the brilliantly smooth Hoxton Whores remix.

5 out of 5 stars I continue to have faith in their ability to create great dance music.......2005-12-29

1997 was the year. "Insomnia" by Faithless had swept over the dance floor. The ensemble's unique echoic sound would last through their numerous albums, but always bringing in new elements to keep their musical proposal fresh. Unlike others that seem more meant to fulfill a contract, this Greatest Hits compilation does do them justice and presents the true best of their works. Almost nine years later, I hear the Monster Mix of "Insomnia" on this album, and it takes me back to the day. Definitely my faith in Faithless' ability to create great dance music is as strong today as ever.

5 out of 5 stars Good collection.......2005-06-01

For sure, I must recommend to buy all the original albums including remixes, but this is because I love Faithless.
If you are not a Faithless fan, but you like electronic music, you must have this album. This compilation is very well done, you get the best and buying it you'll not be disappointed.

1 out of 5 stars Great music, but useless to me because I couldn't listen to it in Windows Music Player.......2005-12-08

I guess I'm on the leading edge or something, but I have all my music ripped to MP3s which I listen to with Windows Music Player. I travel a lot for work and this is better than bringing CDs around with me. I could not rip this CD to MP3s (there was no mention on the CD of this fact). I also could not play it using the Windows Media Player, despite what they say on the box. I'm also pretty sure this means I can't listen to this music on my phone (Nokia 6630 which plays MP3s).

This would be worth buying just for "God is a DJ" and "Bring my family back", if only I could actually listen to them! I'm returning this.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful opera lady-who are you????!!!.......2005-08-23

uh...this isn't so much a review as it is an inquiry to other Faithless fans, given that I do love Faithless enjoy both the original versions and mixes of their work. So, can anyone tell me who was the compelling opera singer who precluded a very loungy and sentuous rythmn that had no other lyrics in it? Of course, I don't know the name of the song, or what album it's from (some fan I am), but I think more hardcore fans will know that of which I speak(write). If you require a little more info, there were nature sounds in the background of her beginning solo (birds chirping etc.,) I am dying to find out who this person is, and what other collaborations she has been involved in. Hopefully, she's not some dead opera chick who missed out on the boundary breaking evolution of acid jazz, that is Faithless. [...]

4 out of 5 stars Too much missing..........2005-08-04

Where is Take The Long Way Home? Crazy English Summer? If Lovin'You Is Wrong? Surely the loathsome Mass Destruction could been replaced by one of their far superior tracks. Why not the original Why Go as opposed to the appalling new version? Did we really need the epic length cut of Salva Mea AGAIN? An edit would've been fine to make room for something else. Did we really need a B-side quality cut like Fatty Boo? I've been following Faithless since the very beginning and while the majority of music here is great it's far from perfect...

        5 out of 5 stars Don't leave.......2005-07-01

I have been a big fan of Faithless since the first time I heard the epic dance song "Insomnia" back in 1997. Faithless has always walked the fine line between house, trance, and trip hop music. After a decade together, the band (Rollo, Maxi Jazz, and Sister Bliss) decided to call it the day after the release of the band's final studio album "No Roots". As one last treat for their fans, Faithless gives fans like me a greatest hits compilation called "Forever Faithless".

"Forever Faithless" is an excellent compilation. The only flaws with the cd, is that I would have rather preferred the original versions of "Insomnia", "Mass Destruction" (don't like the remix version), "We Come 1", and "God is a DJ". That is just my personal taste. I like how the songs slowly builds up to the epic dance tracks that they are (except for "Mass Destruction", the band's weakest single that they have ever released). It consists of three new tracks "Fatty Boo" (an infectious reggae-influenced track), "Reasons (Saturday Night)", and "Why Go?". If there was a reason to get this cd, it is for the three bonus tracks. It is hard to pick which of the three new tracks that I like more but I have to say that "Why Go?" is probably the strongest of the three songs. Great dance songs. I find myself hitting the replay button on this particular song. The version of "Reverance" on this album is slightly different than the original version. I noticed the chorus by Dido isn't the same as on the original version in a good way. I like this version quite a bit.

With the exception of "Mass Destruction", all the songs are great. I am sad to see Faithless call it the day. They never got their chance in the states like Rollo's sister Dido with her first two albums. "Forever Faithless" is a testament to the band's legacy in dance music. Their music will live on forever.
