Tethered to the Ground is Eric Anders' third full-length CD and will be released April 11, 2006. Though there is continuity with his previous releases since Eric wrote many of the songs with the same writing partners from before, particularly Mark O'Bitz, there is also very much a new sound here, largely attributable to some new music partners: the members of Trespassers William. Tethered to the Ground was produced by Matt Brown, Trespassers Williams guitarist and producer. Matt also played most of the guitars and keys. TW's celebrated lead singer, Anna-Lynne Williams, generously contributed some truly wonderful backing vocals, while Ross Simonini, TW's bassist, made an invaluable contribution during recording by playing several instruments including bass. Tethered to the Ground also features Eric's first cover release, Blister in the Sun. Eric changed the lyrics of this 80's party anthem to fit his ethereal, slowed-down version, and he is grateful to receive the approval for the release of his version from Violent Femme and writer of Blister in the Sun, Gordon Gano.

I loved the songs from the movie. Like someone here said, it did make the movie better. Unfortunately, they did not release a "Various Artists" soundtrack, thus resulting in this "Score from..." album. Anyway, here is the list of the songs from the movie:

It was ok but not what i thought it was going to be.......2005-03-29

Ok well i was so exited that amazon had this cd cuz i loved the songs on the movie which was so good it was very cute. alicia silverstone was good and how hot was benicio del toro lol. anyways the soundtrack was a big disapointment for me it had none of the songs that i wanted to hear on it exept for its all mixed up (great song). so i wanted to find out that other song i was looking for two days strait and could not find it but then i did so if anyone wants it the other song in the movie is crash into me by dave mathews band such a good song. so ya there it is just thought i would put it out for others so thats it

Not what I expected. The movie had an awesome soundtrack but none of those songs were included. Only one song was included...All Mixed Up, which is an excellent song. The rest of songs on the soundtrack are background music basically. Not worth the price.

Dissappointed....but what could I expect........1999-02-04

I bought this CD after falling in love with Lurie from the Get Shorty Soundtrack, and from the Fishing with John TV series. Unfortunately, I found that this album is almost entirely "movie music" which is fine if you're actually watching the film, but somehow lacks a context without the film. Heard the film was terrible, so I guess the context is about right. Only a few songs on this album are worth while, and they are not worth the price of admission.

A collection of relaxed house music.......2005-05-09

"How is house music relevant today?" So begins the press kit to Dubtribe Sound System's "Baggage." Instead of the usual "this band rocks" fluff, the kit contains an impassioned history of the group, complete with philosophies behind the music. Such handwringing seems more the province of pedantic hip hop bloggers, rather than purveyors of warm, organic house music.

Thankfully, Dubtribe has not let existential doubt get in the way of making good music. "Baggage" is a collection of relaxed house music, paced like a DJ set; each song flows seamlessly into the next, simulating the legendary Dubtribe live experience. Highlights include the bassline-driven "Nothing is Impossible" and the epic "Do It Now," the disco song to end all disco songs.

Dubtribe is one-of-a-kind.......2003-12-10

Many, many people waited a long time for this album, based in part on Dubtribe's instant 2000 classic "Do It Now." That record -- which continues to see heavy rotation at late-night gatherings everywhere-- showed everyone that the epic disco track is not dead; it's just changed form. Now we finally get a full-length album, and in my view, we should rejoice. As usual, Dubtribe brings us expertly crafted, organic, and hella funky deep house grooves that stretch into the subconcious. It's all original; there are no conventional samples on this album, because Dubtribe plays the instruments on every track.

And the results can be fantastic. Check out "Freeway" and "This Is the Time" (not to mention the re-issued "Do It Now") for best results. However, not every song is a gem. As documented elsewhere, Dubtribe's intensely idealistic lyrics can, at times, overshadow what would otherwise be fine intrumental grooves. It's just too much -- but only sometimes.

The rest of the time, though, Baggage just rocks. And it does it all at around 119 BPM. Who knew? All in all, good enough for a Five Stars, and better than 99% of the processed 4by4 being produced today. Weeehaw!!!

Dubtribe back to its roots, deep deep house, dubby chords. Don't listen to that much house anymore, current tastes more along the lines of soulful drum 'n bass, jazzy 2step, but this is definitely what i reach for when i feel like hearing a 4x4 beat or want to play music that a mellow party crowd will enjoy (not just me).

Beware! These are NOT the well-known tunes..........2004-11-24

Probably no one associated with this album set out to cheat or deceive anyone, but these are NOT the well-known 19th century popular tunes that their names suggest. A current composer has written new versions of these songs based on the original lyrics. Why? Beats me. He explains in the liner notes, "The idea of composing new music to popular song lyrics nearly one hundred years old intrigued me..." I guess it's an art project of some sort.

I can't even blame Amazon for the confusion, since there is absolutely nothing visible on the outside of the packaging that would indicate that these are not the original songs. You have to open up the CD package and read the booklet before this fact is revealed.

I've given this two stars since the people who made the album seem to have been sincere. But if you are looking for recordings of these old standards, the post-modern, oddly dissonant, quasi-classical melodies presented here will only puzzle you.

They could at least have said something on the front or back of the package to indicate that these are not the original tunes.
