5 out of 5 stars Amazingly Thrilling Rollercoaster Ride!.......2007-06-15

I expected there to be only a handful of songs that would sound great but it turns out that the entire CD is really just one crazy roller coaster of unique trancey sounds. This is the first CD I ever bought that I can listen to all the way through to the last track enjoying each track along the way, while not skipping past anything.

When I first bought this CD I thought I was making a mistake because I never heard of "The Thrillseekers", who apparently is one guy, not the assumed two-three DJ's. However, I should never judge trance by it's jewel case anymore. This CD amazed me and I'm starting to like the Nightmusic series better than In Search of Sunrise and A State of Trance. We'll see what happens in the second volume coming out this month.

5 out of 5 stars A perfect trance collection..........2007-05-21

Wow! What a powerful trance collection... This collection, together with Armin's State of Trance 2006 and ATB's In the Mix 3, are the most perfect trance collections of the last 5 years (I would add Tiesto's In search of sunrise - Los Angeles, but it's not 100% trance, since it has some chill out tunes).
I'll be anxiously waiting for the next Thrillseeker's album!

5 out of 5 stars Cool.......2007-05-15

Hey it turns out everyone who liked this was right .... I do too. Good solid trance to dance to.

5 out of 5 stars MOODY.......2007-03-09

I love this cd its the best in the world and I cannot explain the intensity of the music better than that.

4 out of 5 stars VOCALS.......2007-02-17

WHY IS IT THAT VOCALS ARE SHOWING UP MORE AND MORE IN TRANCE?

To me their distractions!

DJ's and Producers PLEASE LEAVE THE BUBBLEGUM POP VOCALS for the teeny-bopper radio!

This set lost the fifth star just because of Who's Knocking (Ferry Corsten Remix).

Take the songs with vocals in them out and you still have 22 good trance songs.

Disc: 1
1. By Your Side - The Thrilseekers VOCALS (NOT TO BAD, BUT I COULD DO WITH OUT THEM)
2. Air For Life - Above & Beyond Vs. Andy Moor

4 out of 5 stars Good stuff.......2005-05-02

I liked this cd alot especially disc one everything flows together nicely. Disc two was alright too but my taste perferred disc one.

4 out of 5 stars erotic thrill seekers.......2004-08-10

This CD flows very nicely. Particularly disc one. Many of the tracks one the first disc are trance and club songs "chilled down" for this compilation, with surprising results. There is almost an erotic feel to this first mix. "When the Rush comes", is a perfect example of this chill effect on a trance song. Disc two, while not as sexy in my opinion, still will put one in a lush and languid state.

5 out of 5 stars This album is awesome!.......2006-07-21

I would pick this one up first if you are new to Tiesto. Much better than ISOS LA. It's almost symphonic and trance oriented in the same mix.

3 out of 5 stars (*Can't decide for title*).......2006-01-16

This is just a great album!
A must buy if you are a Tiesto fan, trance lover, but I don't know about those that are just starting to listening to trance.

This album came out in 2001 and during that time I didn't listen to trance so I don't know if this was hot during that time. I am the guy that likes my trance hard and loud most of the time, and when I don't want to listen to that I'll listen to some smooth trance from ISOS3.

All I have to say is now I agree with the world. I wasn't very happy about Dj Tiesto being #1 Dj but now I see that this Dj has been mixing some good music for years now and deserves the number one shot.

This isn't club music and barely any vocals on it. This album won't give the true feeling of trance the "journey off to another world".

This is just some good trance but I must say the first couple of minutes were terrible. For those that got this and listened to it and took it out from your CD players should know that it gets way better later into the album.

But I must also agree this isn't that much of a great album cause he still had to learn much more to be a great trance mixer that he is now.

Now this is what I expect in my mixes (and I don't care who is mixing nor what is the mood of the album):

1.) At least 3 songs that will be appealing to me making the album worth a spin.
2.) Not be lost during the mix (meaning one song is clubbing music then the other is suddenly some weird trance song that can't be danced to)
3.) All songs to have a feeling as one (perfect examples are ISOS3, ASOT 2005, Magik 4.

That all I ask in my mixes and Tiesto does a good job one doing that in this album except for the third one which is a very important thing.

For me all the tracks in the album were in their own class.

Here I'll try to explain myself better.
In Magik 6 Dj Tiesto did a great job on having the people dance till the beginning to the end. But the album for me wasn't great just cause each track was good it was a great album cause he made all the tracks feel as one big adventure. His mixing skills were flawless in that album but in this album he didn't do that well, he just tried to put a song after the other by doing that the listener couldn't experience to the mixing sensation.

Also I think I am just being nice to Tiesto on giving him 3 stars cause all this guy did was mix them, I should be giving the producers the 3 stars for making the good trance music.

Verdict: 2.9 out of 5.0 Great trance except for the first couple of songs and also this was the beginning to Dj Tiesto transformation to becoming the top Dj of what he is now. Great stuff! Buy it if you like ASOT 2005 or want to hear to "the prequel" to Magik 6.

5 out of 5 stars Like Butter.......2005-10-16

This is simply a classic Tiesto production. Beautifully crafted with the utmost attention paid to the melding of one track to the next. This is a flippin' clinic for trance dj's aspiring for greatness. Tiesto is frankly the Illest dj in the world and i honestly don't see a changing of the guard anyime soon. This cd is for real...(even if you lose touch with reality over the course of it's dissemination). After all, (this is a trip mind you), you will return to earth surely appreciative. More trance appropriation of Tiesto fascination in the nation. With or without self medication. SEA-YAS BINNESS FO SHO.

hint: It's the polar opposite of "out of order"

Yahtzee

2 out of 5 stars A mirical working dj!.......2005-02-25

Dont get me wrong, Dj Tiesto is the leading dj out there. With the most relaxing yet mind racing productions. But this is my least favorite cd he's put out. Possibly one or two tracks here that could exite you but if you want to catch a drift of what he's about I have some other suggestions for you. The entire trilogy of ISOS. It will take you through emotions you were un-aware of, and back.

if you're into real trance such as paul van dyk or tiesto or any of those, dont buy this cd.. it's more like the pop music of trance.. i havent even heard the 2nd cd cuz of how pissed i was by the first but i hear its supposed to be a little better at least

almost as much as the ultra trance 2.

5 out of 5 stars Somethings never tire.......2003-06-14

Three words to sum it all up: BUY THIS ALBUM. Both of these CD's became permanent fixtures in my car stereo. Nothing else was allowed to be played, until now. Check out Ultra Trance 2.

2 out of 5 stars Seeking "ultra" trance? Keep looking........2003-06-05

Because I was pleased with Ultra's downtempo release of Chilled 1, I gave this set a whirl, to sample their trance offering. I'm sorry I did. In all fairness, if you're looking for pop songs with identical beats behind them, you actually might enjoy Disc 1 of this set. I almost gagged. Hardly in line with Van Dyke, Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren or Christopher Lawrence, or any of the highly recommended Tranceport/Transport series.

However, like Ultra Chilled 2, as indigestible as I found the first disc, the second holds its own. Especially noteworthy on the second disc are offerings like: DJ Triesto's "Lethal Industry," Trance Allstars' lovely "Go," Ralphie B's alternatingly thrumming and ethereal "Massive," and a haunting rendition of Sinead O'Connor's "Troy" that I was ready to hate but wound up thoroughly enjoying. Ending the disc with Sasha's delicate and dreamy "Wavy Gravy" let me forgive Ultra for spilling Klea's "Tic Toc" over from the first disc.

I love trance music's capacity to take one on a journey, whether that be a fast-paced race to a great climax, or a mellow and thoughtful winding trip through many moods. This compilation's first disc would have my hand stabbing to change the radio station if I heard any of it on the air. The second disc redeems the set but still leaves me unable to recommend it to anyone, since the price for one fairly decent CD is too steep. My advice is for Ultra to do more homework on what "trance" is and let the buyer look elsewhere.

    4 out of 5 stars In a "Trance.".......2003-01-10

Trance is definitely no stranger to Ultra Records, considering that it's often included in their dance compilations. But "Ultra Trance 01" is their first collection exclusively devoted to the genre, and it's compiled and mixed competently by David Waxman. The first disc is the more accessible of the two, and as it turns out, the best track happens to be a cover: an energetic remix of Mr. Mister's 1980's hit "Broken Wings." Honestly, I loathed the original version, but the trance remix that surfaces here actually works and does the song justice. Other standouts include "Do You See the Light" by SNAP as well as the pulsating "Diving" by 4 Strings and a cover of Cutting Crew's 1980s hit "(I Just) Died In Your Arms" by Resource. On Disc 2, the mood gets a bit darker and more underground, with highlights including the excellent "Two Days Off" by Underworld, "Freeloader" by Drifter, and a remix of Sinead O'Connor's "Troy." Both discs radiate with lots of energy and are very danceable, with just a minimal dash of filler. Trance isn't my favorite type of dance music, but "Ultra Trance 01" is so good that I hope a second volume follows.

3 out of 5 stars Eh, it was alright...........2002-01-15

Okay the first time I heard RITM I was at this party in Dallas. I had never heard their stuff before and someone sticks this CD into the player. I was like Who is this?? I asked and was told who it was.
I didn't really care for this CD once I learned it was their remixes Vol 1. I feel that artist should do their own stuff instead of specializing in other's styles and work. At least do their own work first off, then do remixes after they've been out a while. Maybe the person at this party shouldn't have played a remix album by RITM and instead brought an album done by RITM. I've only heard a couple of songs that RITM has done on their own. They've become famous doing remixes, and that's all I hear about them now. "It's a RITM remix of BT's song or Oakenfold's song!" Blah blah.
I don't have a problem with remixes. Oakenfold, BT, Tiesto, Special DJ K, PVD, etc all of them had done their share of those. BUT these artists ACTUALLY HAVE THEIR OWN DANG ALBUMS TOO! They do their own work and try not to make money off other artist's work and style by mixing it up.
After this RITM CD was over with, I placed my C.M. "Vegas" cd into the player.
I just feel they should be doing their own stuff more often than not.

4 out of 5 stars Remixes worth getting.......2001-10-14

Though it's not an album this is nonetheless a much welcomed release from these highly rated electronic producers. A collection of remixes done by the Florida based electronic dance act Rabbit in the Moon of various artists work.

A good collection with highlights including the brilliant collaboration with Humate on 'East' and their stunning remix of Orbital's 'Are We Here?'.

Any fan of Rabbit in the Moon should have this along with dance music fans who want something a bit different.

    5 out of 5 stars BEYOND AMAZING!!!.......2006-05-25

I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AND FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TRANCE ALBUM'S OF ALL TIME! IT HAS BEEN IN MY TOP 5 FAV'S SINCE 1999 AND I NEVER TIRE OF LISTENING TO IT! I WILL SAY THAT THE COMMUNICATIONS SONG IS NOT SO GREAT, AS YES, IT IS A LONG SONG OF TELEPHONE RINGING, BUT OTHER THAN THAT EVERY SINLE TRACK IS AMAZING. THE MOST AMAZING TRANCE TRACK EVER, FLOWER DUET REMIX 99 WILL MAKE THE HAIR ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK STAND UP! ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING AND MOVING PEICES EVER EVER EVER!!! I HAVE PURCHASED THIS CD PROBABLY 10 TIMES AFTER HAVING IT STOLEN/LOST BECAUSE I SIMPLY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT! A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY TRANCE LOVER!

5 out of 5 stars Don't Pay attention to what others say... THIS ALBUM IS EXCELLENT........2005-08-27

A bit of Everything. This album is great. If you like trance this is it... Starting from the FIRST song to the end of the album..it creeps in and sucks you up into the rhythem and mood of this whole
*blissful* album...it just FLOWS... This is a must own... It's been a while since I had listened to this album since it was lost... thank God amazon had it..i been searching for it for a while now... I am going to buy it again without a doubt. Although this album does bring back a wave of memories one thing i can assure you..it's well worth it. It gets you into the feel of the EMOTION behind trance music.. songs like it's a beautiful day.. i love it when it feels this way..be prepared for a relaxing ESCAPE... Listen to it with an open mind.. it will relax you.. like i said in the begining, the very first song to the last...will be played in your ears and mind just like a beautiful story book with a perfect ending... go figure why the first song on this CD is called "Children." It is your responsibility to re access that inner child and come into contact with your innerself... this CD was like meditation to me...and I hope you get the chance to own a copy for this was the first CD album that had me and not only I loving trance music...

    God bless.

4 out of 5 stars An excellent pop trance album.......2005-07-30

I lost this album and had to go buy it again--its amazing. More of dance than trance, however. Completely classic line up: ATB, Ayla, Faithless and Robert Miles. The only tracks I wasn't personally thrilled with were "He's All I want" and "Flower Duet 99," but they aren't bad, depending on your taste. I'd recommend this album to fans of dance or trance but especially ATB as every song on here is catchy, melodic, and perfect for summer.

    3 out of 5 stars hmmm.........2005-05-27

i bought this one and i just don't love it.

    the good tracks were:
    children(robert miles)
    it's a fine day(miss jane)
    ayla part 2(ayla)
    flower duet '99(jonathan peters)
rain(brainbug) [not the GREATEST, but it was good.]

    the BAD tracks were:
    insomnia(faithless) [AWFUL VOICE]
communication(mario piu) [NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR 7 MINUTES OF TELEPHONES RINGING.. I MEAN COMMON!!!]
beautiful day(hypertrophy) [MALE VOCALS GONE WRONG]

and all of the rest were kinda iffy. if you were in the mood, and too tired to change the song you'd just listen to them. otherwise you'd probably change it. and a few of them aren't EVEN trance.. thank god i bought Volume 2 first. because if i would've bought this one first.. i don't think i would've gone back to "BEST OF TRANCE." it's a shame.

    2 out of 5 stars It's okay..........2005-01-03

Okay, Now I need to change my review again... Originally, I was torn between giving this 2 stars or 3 stars, but oh well, I gave it 2. I did not like many tracks on this disc, however I really liked the songs Beautiful Day and Communication, and a few others are okay also. If you must have this, get it used. I also got Vol 2, it's way better than this. I don't really think this is worth the price.

    Amazon.com essential recording

The Rolls Royce of trance-house mixes, and every bit as cool as the polar bear on the sleeve, this first edition of Sasha and John Digweed's Northern Exposure sets is the tightest and most effortless of the series. With 11 superbly arranged cuts from the likes of William Orbit, Rabbit in the Moon, and the Future Sound of London, not one moment is wasted. The disc's flavor is decidedly organic and wholly evocative of all-night mountain raves or desert parties. Starting with the early-morning stretch of Keiichi Suzuki's delightfully sunny "Satellite Serenade," the duo swiftly build the tempo up to the breezy ambient plateau of Morgan King's "Free" before heading into harder house territories. The metronomic pulse and atmospheric chanteuse vocals of Fuzzy Logic's "Obsession" form an incremental crescendo with Orbit's "Water from a Vine Leaf." Being a condensed version of the European release, the closing salvo from Banco de Gaia's "Last Train to Lhasa" confirms the since-validated fact that these Exposure journeys have infinite potential; Sasha and Digweed are among the first DJs to create mix sets that tap into earthy, human emotions. It is precisely this unique flavor that will make you yearn for a dance floor, beach, or campsite, packed with deliriously dancing bodies. Yes, really. --Steffan Chirazi

    4 out of 5 stars A Ballad of Trance.......2007-06-05

Sasha and John Digweed team up in compilling this novel album although it definitely has more of a "Sasha-feel". A ballad of soft trance that is best suited to lazy Sundays or post-clubbing come downs.

For the most part, the individual tracks and the set overall does not sound that outdated when related to the album's release date of 1997.

I like this album for its sheer creativity. It the album cover and title have any true purpose in conveying what type of setting Sasha and Digweed were going for with their track selection...chilly, untamed, and isolated...then they sure succeeded. I just don't understand why they decided to open with a track using a vocal clip of the BBC's premier documentary narrator, David Attenborough talking about the Amazon instead of the Arctic or Antarctic?

This review is for the single disc album with the tracks featured above. 4/5 stars.

    5 out of 5 stars LOVE.......2007-05-15

i loveeeeeeeeee this effing cd, but mine is scratched to hell and now i'm having a hard time finding it :(:(:(:(. This cd is soo sososo good; lots of good beats, and some relaxing songs and just an all around great cd.

5 out of 5 stars Ten years on and still amazing..........2007-04-04

Wow....time flies...I've owned NE Vol 1 for 10 years....and it still doesn't fail to blow me away every time i listen to it. I own all the NEs 1-3 and Vol 1 is still the best. If you haven't listened to it....give it a shot and discover how timeless this S&D mix really is.... Also, I spent all winter listening to the NEs while snowboarding every weekend....it's the closest thing to heaven at 13,000 ft!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Sunsets And Snow.......2007-02-13

Sasha and Digweed dip their pens into a dark and sultry ink for this lanky, lazy trance mix. It is almost as stirring as their harder house numbers, but without all of the thumping back-beats or aggressive propulsion. Inspired by daydreams and infused with liquid sighs, this album is an attempt at soulful transcendence.

Unfortunately, the record gets off to an almost aggravatingly slow start. The Suzuki number that kicks the disc off is about five minutes too long and features an irritatingly incessant chandelier-and-wind-chime jangling. A later track, "Raincry," succumbs to the deadly repetition of a monkish whine that, after seven minutes, starts to sound like a dying whale. The third track of the album is a Native American-themed chorale by The Future Sound of London; it's suitably sensual (think pan-flutes and fairy-whispers), but the mood is almost ruined by an escalating mish-mosh of weird electro-swoops and kinetic synth.

These minor mishaps, however, are all overshadowed and overpowered by the rest of the record, which is not nearly so twilight-toned. The sound coasts up higher through the angelic sparkles of "These Waves" and then dives down into the cool, murky waters of "Out Of Body Experience."

"I'm Free," "Ultraviolet," "Obsession," and "Water From a Vine Leaf" form the nerve-throbbing core of this record, and they are crafted and coalesced with S & D's usual fine eye for detail. The music picks up speed without losing its airy effervesence. Textured alto serenades, strobe-heavy splashes of sound, urging and sexual half-moans: it recalls bare feet kicking up surf around a beachside bonfire, sweaty and shadow-soaked club couches, or candle-lit house parties.

This delightfully dirty block of trance brilliance is followed by some last-minute theatrics (the up-and-down robotics and the silk-weave organ chords of Apollo 440's "Liquid Cool/Deep Forest Ice Cold") and a steady, patient, Indian-influenced come-down that recalls the life and lushness of the record without any of the awkward false starts. This trip may have a rocky beginning, but it ends, in true S & D fashion, with a dreamily perfect fade.

5 out of 5 stars Earthen Organic Frost.......2007-01-11

If the phrase "heading South" implies a progression towards Hell, North would have to be the direction of Heaven. In 1996, Sasha and John Digweed certainly exposed us to a little slice of Heaven.

This album as a single unit was perhaps as influential on modern mixing as the duo's Renaissance: The Mix Collection was to the introduction of mixing itself. The mixing is flawless, but unlike the acclaimed Global Underground series' mixing, this was done by Sasha and Digweed themselves, not a professional studio mixer using 21st century computers - making the album all that much more special.

The track progression is seamless; I love the ethereal sounding beats mixing, melding, churning subtly together to form this astounding musical mosaic. The music is now eleven years old. 1996-2007. But it is as fresh, as seamless, as illusory and divine as it was in the mid '90s.

One thing to be said - for years, I owned the U.S. release (long after the UK release had been discontinued) and was ignorant of a second disc to this release. And I cannot convey to those out there with enough urgency that the second disc completes this epic journey, even though the first disc (North) could very well stand alone as a 5-star album and has for quite some time.

The second disc (South), never released in the United States and only limitedly available around the rest of the globe, matches the mysticism of the North disc. Yet it is so very different. While the North disc is a bubbly landscape of dreamy, beautiful and luscious ear candy melded into one long 11 part track, the South disc adds the balance necessary to call this a real trance album. There are solidified beats on the South disc, straight from the get-go. This disc has an icier feel to it, a bit more cryptic whereas the North disc feels somewhat organic and earthen to my ears. I love it. Phased vocals, beat crescendos and chopped inserts lay the foundation for the rushing peaks that the North disc lacks. The North disc still remains my favorite because it is a humble work of beauty, but the South disc feels a bit more like the perfect segue into the future Northern Exposure releases.

The biggest complaint with these masterpieces is that the songs sound too dated. NOT SO WITH THIS RELEASE. I promise that anyone, from an older ex-raver to the trance newcomer will find these songs accessible. This album surpasses that boundary which can snag some listeners' appreciation for the music.

If you want something truly historical, aurally divine, musically enigmatic and a work of technical genius, then purchase this album. Sell a kidney if that should be the prerequisite to getting the South disc. I have finally found the whole package, and I refused to review this album without having experienced it first in its 1996 completeness.

Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold, two of the most famous DJs in the world and kings of big beat and house, respectively, are supremely showcased in this double-CD collection. The Essential Selection, Vol. 1 glorifies each mixmaster's equal, yet mutually exclusive talents in roof raising. The back-to-back discs are an enlightening example of the yin and yang of club music; Fatboy Slim's grounded, drier, giddier expressions of overlapping funk and disco juxtapose Oakenfold's spatial, entrancing continuum supplemented with buzzing, flatulent bass lines, and celestial synths. Both DJs are experts in flow, building beats seamlessly into climactic moments of frenzied, adrenaline-fueled euphoria, then swinging the vibe down again with the subtlety and patience of a free-falling feather. No doubt Fatboy Slim is known for his deliberate lack of subtlety stylistically, but when placed in this context, immediately compared to Oakenfold's ethereal grooves, it's evident that Stormin' Norman possesses copious finesse. Because of their stylistic polarity, like platinum and gold, these DJs shine with matched but multihued brilliance, and like soil and sun, are indispensable components of a diverse dance music ecology. --Beth Massa

    5 out of 5 stars Oakenfold's finest trance.......2006-04-24

The Oakenfold disc of this set is the epitome of trance.

Certainly Oakenfold's finest trance CD, with Tranceport in second place. The track transitions are seemless [like in Tranceport], so you can just put the CD in and go into, for lack of a better word, a trance. Soothing but with a lot of energy.

You can't call yourself a fan of trance and not hear this.

2 out of 5 stars Only half good..........2006-04-14

Fatboy just makes a lot of rhythmic noise! Very bad for your heart if you'd ask me. Oakenfield way more melodic. So definitely don't go for the new, but choose the cheaper used

    5 out of 5 stars I'm sure you've heard it all...........2004-12-02

Yes yes you've heard it all about Oakenfold being a sell out and everything from A to Z.. and how most techno is all dated and there is always something wrong with mixes, and true to this also, but it's still good music, Fatboy's mix is really housey ( kindof in a Fast paced 1-2 min song Housy kinda way, not like a digweed house way ) Fatboy does tear it up though, his cd is really up beat and great for driving to, although it does leave the listener wanting more,, maybe something deeper.... oh yea there is an Oakenfold cd to.... I really didn't think to much of oakie's mix for a couple of years.. Now it's almost 2005 and i've heard tons of different mixes, and when i went back and heard his cd it really amazed me. the song selection stuck in my head and i couldn't forget the tune of the songs. it's progressive and has a different vibe than any of his other cds. Of course there are a few boring and too long songs on here, but when you listen all through, it really is worth owning. the last 4 songs on the cd are truly incredible 5/5 stars with nothing wrong there, and the first like 6 songs are probly 3-4/5 . sure you can call him what you want but this cd is good.

3 out of 5 stars This is Comical!!!.......2002-10-25

Boy, do I love this. Fatboy Slim tears it up on his CD, Oakenfold continues to put me to sleep!!! All I have to say is, if you have the extra money to drop on these CDs, buy it for Fatboy Slim's Disc. Truely one of his better...

4 out of 5 stars Two genres, two discs, two different moods.......2002-09-28

First of all, if you've never been exposed to electronic music, buy this double CD set. It is a rarity among dance mix compilations since it includes two popular but very different styles of dance mixed by two of the biggest DJs in the world. Almost all other dance mix sets contain one style exclusively, so this album is truly a 2-for-1 deal.
If you happen to be an electronica guru, this compilation may not whet your thirst for innovation. The first CD, Fatboy Slim's big beat mix, sounds dated, despite being fairly high energy. True, there are it's fine points, such as the few tracks in the middle of the mix that create an enjoyable climax, but as a whole the mix sounds old and worn. Unless you're a truly big Fatboy Slim fan, his mix probably will have you hitting the "skip" button on your CD player over and over again to escape the repetition of annoying beats.
As for the Oakenfold mix, it's the reason I gave the album 4 stars. Stand-alone, this CD is one of the best trance mixes to come out just before the trance genre began to flood with exhausted, overplayed, producer driven stagnation. Some critics have panned the Oakenfold mix claiming the song selection was second rate. I could not disagree more. Most of the songs are wonderful selections on their own right, utilizing pure emotion. The CD begins with a surrealistic soundbyte of a New York Thanksgiving day television weathercast, which quickly builds into an energetic hill with the likes of "The Spirit" and "Free". The 3 song climax is among the best I've ever heard, and one that can't be missed. Of note is Solarstone's "Seven Cities", which literally makes the listener feel as if he/she is truly on an emotional ride. The closing two songs on the mix are a wonderful cool-down, of note is "Viola" which is one of the best late night driving songs ever.
Overall I think it's a ...investment well worth the cost.

4 out of 5 stars Corny, but that's what upbeat dance is.......2006-12-21

As mentioned above, this is an album of some pretty cheesy dance music, but if you like upbeat tracks, you will enjoy this disc.

2 out of 5 stars Not exactly perfect.......2006-08-02

Let me start off by saying that this CD was disappointing. The music is great, however I would have liked it much better without the lyrics.

The first song : "I Like It" for example starts off with " I hate the treadmill every day, I hate the mundane things they say. The bordome sets in nine to five , at night thats when I come alive. I long to be connected I like to be affected the bright lights " WHAT??!! are you talking about. Dumb.......

Song #2 "I Like Love I Love Love"......(women speaking to an audience)..."I feel real good this evening and I like say I feel good for one reason. That were all here together , your beautiful, so I want you to give yourselves a great big round of applause" GAG ME WITH A LADLE. Two verses start off like this and they get worse.

3rd song: "Give it up" Naughty naughty you........ (there is a guy singing) I'm like a drug that can make you go crazzzy. Its like a candy that I know you'll find tasty. Chocolate love good to the last drop Can't get enough no you just can't stop. Daddy you can flip me, dip me know just when to lick me. Any time of the day. If you like cotton candy baby you know... SO give it up . you'll get addicted fast ......try it. Give it up.........turn the music up while you blow me........blow me away.....enough said.

4th song:"Dirty Laundry", color me ya is what it sounds like shes saying. This is the only song that I replayed because the lyrics didn't annoy me that much. WHen your joggin the music is what keeps your rythm goin. My Mom listened and she thought she was saying Gonorrhea. So there you have it.

5th song "Get it on" HEY DJ ............just sappy

6th song: "Plastic dreams" Everybody get on the disc floor........(screams in the background and hoots and hollars)

7t song: "Heaven".........this one is the first song I recognized and I liked the way they put it to techno. The music is great , her voice is nice and the words are FINALLY senseable

8th song; OMNIBUS....This one is pretty good. Starts off with lots of music then there is a little kids voice and more music and horns beep. and the little voice breaks in sounding real cute saying something indistinguishable and more music. Then "bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum I have no idea what it all means but I can jog to it. So out of the 8 so far ......whats this the 3rd song thats doable!!

9th song: "Obscura" Starts off with more techno music and thats how it ends.

10th song: "Livin on a prayer" Oh were half way there.........another song that I recognize and this version is ok.

11th song: Classical Gas: Not screechy........nice accoustical guitar introduced for a nice cool down thats short lived. Mom and I like this one.

12th song: "Miracle" whoever likes this one needs Dr Lauras book "The Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives" A great song for weak willed women. ACKY

SO there you have it.. my opinion (and Moms)on this CD that didn't even get me home. Okay if you found it at a yard sale for a buck. Een then I'd barter.
