5 out of 5 stars Best trance mix of old school true trance.......2006-03-03

this album was played at so many partys I cant even begin to count but my copy has been spun so many times the label peeled off it was a must play before "Energy Night" at the living room any playa in N.E. knows where that hole is... but we were all there... ;-)

5 out of 5 stars Non-stop high energy w/ smooth mixes! A+ Nicholas!.......2006-03-01

If you're into Trance music, this is a must for you. This c.d. is an all time classic w/ nothing but classic tracks. Nicholas definitely proves himself as an outstanding d.j. with his fantastic track selection and smooth mixes.

Put this c.d. on during any house party or while your driving to a party and your friends will love you!

The best part about this c.d. is that it never gets old. I've had this c.d. since it came out and I still listen to it over and over. I firmly believe this is the best Trance Global Nation c.d. ever. Buy it today and I'll prove to you that I stand correct. For the price, you can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Suprising variety and rare tracks make this a classic.......2004-05-06

I want to preface this review for the facts that this is an older cd, done in the break-out period of trance where it was partially amalgamated with "energy" or facer paced tech beats. Most of the songs on this cd are backed with an unconforming classic trance bass (4/4 single hits) which does not give a huge amount of variety for those of you looking for percussional excellence. I do wish do admonish the cd in the highest regard for a couple of songs that are not very well known that can be found only on this cd.
The third track (Medusa, Arrakis) is a very rare, high energy piece that blends what appears to be malevolent gregorian monks with some wicked broken-down tech sounds. It has a killer booming bass hit to transition different sections in the songs, (which I personally love) and flows very unmonotonously for early trance.
The Cd also has my favorite version of BT's Godspeed, which is a shorter mix, but has some killer swell and great down beat. There is excellent use of the flanger in the song (done by Nicholas Bennison, the DJ himself on what was probably a brand spanking new Pioneer 800 series) and the vocals are crisp and epic. Appearences are made by Paul Van, and of course it has the classic Greece 2000 Three drives on a vinyl. I highly recommend the CD for trance enthusiasts for the rare tracks on it, and most of the others can be found elsewhere.

High energy classic cd with rare tracks, mixed well with suprising variety for trance. 4 and 1/2 stars.

4 out of 5 stars A good mix to listen to before hitting the nightclubs.......2004-04-14

Trance music is by far my favorite sub-genre in dance music. I love the melodies and most of the time ethereal vocals that accompanies the song. I rarely buy mix cds anymore though. There really isn't anything that hasn't been done already. I was going through my cd collection when I came upon "Trance Global Nation Vol. 2". I had bought this cd used at my favorite record store. I thought I would put it in. Nicholas Bennison is by no means anywhere as good as George Acosta or Sandra Collins but he does a fairly competent job at mixing the music. At least he succeeds in mixing the songs to flow together in a cohesive sound. The songs may be fairly dated (try 4-5 years ago) but they represent everything that I love about trance music. I particularly love tracks #1 and #3. They have a good beat as well as a good melody structure to the song. I feel like I am in a nightclub while listening to the cd.

5 out of 5 stars This is worth the money.. without a doubt.......2004-03-15

This CD is beautifully orchastrated from start to finish. I have a listened to alot of Trance and alot of trance is going the way of pop this record takes you back to being original. The sound it produces is magnificient.Song 1 and 10 are the heat. I bump this record whenever i can. Everyone I know that listen to Trance either wants it or has it. I feel this record(CD) beats some records put out today. If you like this record check out DJ Brian Hardesertrance. Peace...This is a Hot record..not poppy...

1 out of 5 stars Definitely not for those who truly love dance music!.......2003-03-27

I would like to apologize in advance if I sound a bit too upset over a CD. It's just that I have been burned by the music industry one too many times and it has finally gotten me fed up. They know that you can't return a CD and get your money back once you realize that they have sold you something worthless.

This CD is a joke. A lot of the song listings state that the versions included in this 2-CD set are "extended" or "club" versions. Yeah...whatever! If an extended version clocks in at 3:40, then I would hate to hear the edited version. What would it be...two minutes?!!

The kind of people who would spend money on a double disc collection of dance music would strike me as the people who would want to hear the full-length versions that they hear in the clubs. Why should we pay good $$ to hear 4 minute, radio friendly, edited versions of all of these songs. It's such a waste! We can hear this stuff on the radio for free.

Please...don't fall for this scam like I accidentally did. If you love dance music then don't spend your hard earned cash on this awful CD full of pop songs instead of real dance music. I hope I've been able to save you some money and aggravation with this warning.

2 out of 5 stars You've Heard It All Before........2003-02-26

I suppose "Club Nation America Volume 2" will serve its purpose to those who don't listen to radio or are unfamiliar with dance music. But seasoned pros who are familiar with Ministry of Sound's previous compilations will most likely find this one to be a letdown. There are, however, a few highlights. Being such a huge fan of Thunderpuss (Chris Cox and Barry Harris), I love their remix of Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama." And I also dug the dance version of Res' "They Say Vision." But this compilation is overall predictable and recycles the same songs we've all heard before. I like DJ Sammy's trance remake of "Heaven," but, honestly, there are already dozens of compilations that have this song. And did they have to include that horrific remake of "Like a Prayer" by Mad House? It's bad enough to send ME to a madhouse. DJ Al B. Rich seemed to play it safe and made no attempt to give these two mix CDs anything resembling an edge. For those who are new to dance music and MoS, I'd give this a reluctant green light. But more discriminating listeners won't suffer a huge loss by passing on this one.

4 out of 5 stars A wee bit cheesy but overall good mix of house and trance.......2002-10-06

I recently caught a tv advertisement for this 2-cd mix compilation. Judging by the tracklist, the mix cd set looked appealing enough to check out. Considering this is from Ministry of Sound you have to know that this mix set is going to be good. I have yet to be disappointed by a Ministry of Sound mix compilation. They always put out some quality compilations mixed by some of the world's best djs like Johnny Vicious and George Acosta. They don't pick a bunch of no-name djs. They always get the best djs there is on the club circuit.

On the latest volume of Club Nation America, Al B. Rich is the dj who mixes the entire compilation. The remixes on disc one is primarily house remixes. I really dug the remixes of Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama" and Res' "They Say Vision". Those two remixes are the highlights of disc one for me. I'm not into house music as I once was but overall it is a good cd. I would say disc two is the trance disc. I don't know who ever thought it was a good idea to make a Bryan Adams' song into a trance song but that person had to be smoking something other than a cigarette. The song is extremely cheesy. It screams out "velveeta". I like the song but it is just overly cheesy. One of the cheesiest cover songs in the world of trance music. I also thought the dance version of Madonna's "Like A Prayer" had "velveeta" written all over it. Despite the cheese factor of this compilation, it is very good for a Saturday night before hitting the nightclubs. I thought this compilation was a lot better than the Trance Nation mixed compilation which was ok but nothing to write home about. Still you can't do no wrong with anything by Ministry of Sound.
