Not St. Germain's best, but worthy ..........2006-10-24
Because the 6th series needs some explaining...
I loved Jamie Cullum's 'Devil May Care' because it is true, real, and wholesomely real vocals with a modestly cool beat. Mr. Scruff's 'Get a Move On' is a worldwide commercial success. The Might Bop's 'Feeling Good' leaves you just that. Spurprise to me was Skalpel's '1958', with real deep jazz/soul I had to listen to 3 times to appreciate. Wow, that was cool! Hird's 'Keep You Kimi' is another really cool song.
The problem is where are the bountiful, cutting-edge hits many expect from this series? The remainders are lacking in both beat and persona. Cookie-cutter songs that do nothing to motiviate nor exacerbate the St. Germain audience who have bought the series only to come to this questionable CD.
I recommend this CD solely for the Wagram faithful who know the Wagram music scene. Not a good CD for newbies or wannabies to the Nu-Jazz movement.
Hey, you can't win them all ...

Jazzy, but not what I expect from Saint Germain.......2006-10-06
Getting back to the Jazz!.......2005-08-15
Another Great Album from Wagram Music.......2005-07-06
More Energy & some Killer Cuts Mixed in.......2005-07-05
I certainly liked this one more than the last one because it had what volume 5 was missing - energy and that 'snap!' I liked in the music... what takes you by surprise, and gets your head nodding and thinking: "I gotta hear that again". You've got it from the get-go in this; particularly with Schema's own Doctor Abstract with "Stuck on Jazz". Then you've got a cut pretty much played out by Lincoln-Mercury, Mr. Scruff with "Get a Move On". But it's still a good song and brings some great memories to me. Other stellar tracks were Povo's "Good & Bad" (And what an album their feature release is!!), Horne Singers "Flat Foot" has some cool funk to it, Eddie Roberts "Roughneck" has a neat sound and some swing, and I've been trying to find Hird's album for more than just the great track featured here called "Keep You Kimi" (also called "Keep you Hird" on other LPs). However the top track to me on this was Two Banks of Four's "One Day". Soul singing, deep bass, powerful song. You gotta hear it!
I defininetly recommend this. I was nervous for the series after volume 5 but this is a welcome return to form as it has that 'thing' I loved about the other volumes; a bit of adventure, some random experiments and a spark. I admit that not all of the cuts got me - I was never a huge fan of Was-A-Bee's "This is What you Are"... it just sounds too cheesy to me but some of my friends love it to death. But in the end I think the set's strong and more than worth a good listen. Especially "One Day"... the cut blew me away. If you like this, check the others in the series and Break & Bossa 6 and 7.

The series saver!.......2005-06-11
Volume 6 will keep me waiting for volume 7!
This CD has a little feeling of the second compilation starting with song number 2. It gets a little slow in song 5 and 6 and then picks up again.
I would definitely recommend it.
