    5 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!!.......2005-08-06

This is a great CD. If you love music, you'll love Paris Lounge 3. CD1 is downtempo jazz, funk, and trip hop. CD2 is uptempo dub, techno, and disco.

My top 3 PARIS BY DAY picks are

    Mana Traya - Happy Hour
    Troublemakers - Get Misunderstood
DJ Phantom - We've Got Connexion

My top 3 PARIS BY NIGHT picks are

Dan Ghenacia - Choose Your Way
    Clement - Calabi-You
Zorg - Closer To The Peace

Granted, it is expensive, but it is worth it!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing..........2004-07-05

The first time that I came across Paris Lounge Vol. 3 was back in March while browsing through a lifestyle store in Vancouver...

It was by pure chance that I picked up a pair of headsets and tried listening to one of their albums; and the instant CD 1 from Paris Lounge Vol. 3 came on I was mesmerized by its soulful, transcendental notes. Its compilation is unlike anything I have heard before and yet it seems like the notes are all familiar and reminiscent of some distant memory.

It was really "love at first sound" for me, and probably for many others here in Vancouver - as I had to wait for another 2 months before getting my hands on a copy. According to a store clerk, this collection was sold out within the 1st week of shipment, and no other stores in Vancouver carried it at that moment.

So was it worth the wait? Yes, and yes, and yes...

4 out of 5 stars Paris Lounge or Paris Under A Groove.......2003-11-04

I recently came across both of these releases in a record store.
The album Paris Lounge was priced fairly high, while Paris Under A Groove was selling for 16.99. Paris Lounge had two discs and Paris Under A Groove one 73 minute disc.

So, I purchased them both since I could not decide and neither shared any of the same tracks. It seems that Paris Lounge consists of a bunch of tracks pieced together that is supposed to typify the Paris sounds. The second disc is really kind of boring. The first is better but has that annoying L'amour, L'amour cheesy jazz massacre.

Paris Under A Groove however, has some really amazing funk, soul, jazz and hip hop fusion music. It really has more mood evoking material. The tracks are deep and really flow together nicely. I especially like the tracks Cold Move, and So Daft. This is a nice collection of all french artists.

It reminded me of my last trip to Paris and the way I felt during a night out on the town. The sounds and funky - jazz, deep house tracks brought back some memories of driving through Paris on a chilled night, hitting some clubs and taking in the city lights. The opening track "Le Perif" is quite mellow. However after a second listen with increased volume it grooves quite nicely. The track opens with some city noise, rain samples and kicks into a strong jazz piano groove. The other bonus is that this has a great classic track from st germain that's unavailable elsewhere.

4 out of 5 stars Good Two Disc set.......2003-09-25

I picked this up (albeit for far cheaper for sale at a music shop) and haven't been disappointed. I thought that the first two were a bit inconsistent when it came to quality - I preferred Paris Lounge 1 to Paris Lounge 2, as the first edition featured some pretty cool cuts, and had some nice jazzy cuts on the second cd. But this one right here - I like it better than both of the previous editions.

The format is the same as all the others in the franchise (Berlin Lounge, London Lounge, NY Lounge, etc.) The "daytime" cd is more mellow and the night time cd is upbeat. Stand-outs to me from CD 1 were the Emilie Simon, Mar Collin, Avia and DJ Cam tracks. On the second cd, which actually seems more French House, features a remake to Zimpala's "The Breeze is BLack", and a Jack De Marseille cut that's "aight". All in all, I prefer CD 1 to CD two in general strength and feel. CD 1 doesn't wan too much, and although the first few cuts are ultra mellow, it picks up almost too much with the poppy ending track of that cd.

Final rate? It's a good release! I definitely enjoyed this. What you may be interested in is that this has some exclusive cuts on it. However I do have the warning - Hotel Costes vol 6 is due out in the US in the end of September, and although this series and Costes has the same label as even Saint Germain Des Pres Cafe (Wagram), there is still a bit of carryover between the cds (see "L Amour"). So before getting this, I'd recommend looking at a Hotel Costes too.
