Better than I thought.......2007-06-09

I originally bought this album for one specific track I heard on an online music stream. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this album. It has been a while since I found an album that I enjoy from beginning to end without having to skip passed a song or two, or worse more. If you love to be moved by great tracks from house, progressive, and some breaks then hopefully you'll enjoy this CD as much as I do.

Perfect, this is exactly what I needed just coming off of Winter Music Week down in South Miami Beach. This is a sick package!!! The dopest peak hour club sounds and a live DVD from club dates at some of the best nights out in the US? Bad Boy Bill holds it down! Key cuts in the mix include tracks by Peace Division, John Dahlback, Cajmere, and the Bad Boy himself. A must have.

I'm not sure where the previous reviews are coming from. And don't think that I mistakenly picked up a Bad Boy Bill release without knowing who he is. I became aware of Bad Boy Bill waaayyyy back during his Bangin The Box 1 cd. However, he has never seemed to progress with the trends of electronic house music. Perhaps he is just "keepin' it real" since his music sounds very similar to what it did way back then.

I find it annoying and very non enjoyable. This is not House Music.

Great CD, weak DVD.......2007-06-10

OK, I know house music (and most dance music) is supposed to be catchy and poppy though i would hardly call it "popular" (i.e. when's the last time you had a chart topping mix album in the US?)

Anyway, what is contained on here is awesome, i don't know these songs, but I like em. BBB is at peak hour perfection, and he mixes in a way that is not boring. I like mixes that are constantly changing (like Shadow and Cut Chemist's Brain Freeze).

That being said, the DVD is weak. The video-mix is decent, it would work well as an alternative to just throwing the CD on at a party. But the "extras"- the stuff that would take the audience BEHIND THE DECKS is worthless. Bill seems cool and interesting enough, but it's a bunch of handycam videos of Bill's hanger-on posse goofing around. There's no incsight into the mixing process, the creative process or any element of production. Instead we're treated to a bunch of idiots goofing around and traveling with a phenomenal DJ.

I remember watching Bill for the first time in the early 80's. At this time he was starting his career with Farly Jack Master Funk and Julian Jumpin Perez. He was talented back then and still very talented even today ....as seen in his video.

As for the music, I loved the new music that he introduces and the old school flavor that he touches on....such as dropping house aint giving up track!!!! This was a song that I grew up listening to when I was back in Chicago.

I recommend this DVD/CD to anyone that loves house music!

Another great release from Bad Boy Bill. This set is as great as it is live. If you love house music, you will love Bad Boy Bill. This set moves you right from the start. I can't say much more, just go buy it.
