5 out of 5 stars Perfectly Chill Harmony.......2003-11-05

I've been listening to this all day, and it's the first album i've been able to sleep to listening because of it's chill beats and sounds. Without a lot of unnecessary noise and clatter, this album makes for great background noise, keeping a steady pace from the beginning to end tracks.

I probably wouldn't drive around listening to his, and I can't dance to this, but I've enjoyed the subtle color it's added to my mood today.

5 out of 5 stars deep intelligent sound - what one should expect from DD.......2002-09-25

Yoshiesque 2 is the best mix album of 2001. I was a little disappointed with GU 21-Moscow because it doesn't portray the real talent of the DC duo. Yoshiesque is not as progressive nor anthem-based, and sounds much more Deep Dish-like. I agree with most reviewers that disc 2 is superior. But I also like the first CD - it is more relaxed, chill-out, melodic, kind of deep house, not bad, just a differen mood. Great for listening in the car on my way back from a night of dancing in a club. My favorite track on this disc is Lovely-Johnny Fiasco's Lovely Vocal Remix.
Disc 2 (Eastcoast) is more of an energetic club mix but it also sounds pretty deep, and you can't mistake it for anything else - it's Deep Dish! The 'Eastcoast' CD starts with the excellent track - Finally - a big hit in clubland last summer (2001). Track 4 is an awesome remix of Disted - Always Remember to Respect + Honor Your Mother, and is a tribue to Danny Tenaglia by Deep Dish. Another one of my favorite tracks is Afrika by Oliver Lieb which slows down the tempo a little, then the set goes deeper with John Creamer's and Stephane K's 'Wish You were Here'(Also found on GU 21), and then explodes again with the great Deep Dish remix of Delirium's Innocente - one of their best remixes that just makes me wanna dance!
Overall 5 stars - Yoshiesque is everything a mixed album should be - it takes the listener on a journey and never gets boring. Did I mention that the mixing is flawless? Hopefully Deep Dish will deliver more mixes of such great quality in the near future.

4 out of 5 stars More Trance, Less House, but Still All Good........2002-08-09

Instead of repeating the winning formula of "Yoshiesque," Deep Dish return with a solid Volume 2 that differs in mood and flavor. The tempo is a bit faster, and we get more trance than house this time around. Disc One didn't appeal to me at first, but it succeeds by the excellent mixing and melange of diverse grooves featuring the mid-tempo beats of Chemical Brothers to other upbeat, energetic house grooves with a dash of techno. Give it a couple of listens, and it will grow on you. Disc Two (which, like Disc 1, is 78 minutes) is more my flavor, with more traditional house numbers and less trance. Standouts include the opener "Finally" by Kings of Tomorrow and Morel's "Funny Car." Sequels may have a reputation of disappointing, but Volume 2 is a smart step forward for the remixing duo of Dubfire and Sharam. In my school of music, this CD gets a B.

5 out of 5 stars Deep Dish shows why they're one of the top DJs in America.......2002-06-06

Let me start off by saying that I was not immediately taken by this CD set. I started off by listening to disc 1 (called Westcoast). For what it is, it is a very good mix of chill-out house music which would be perfect for the drive home from a long night of partying. However, some of the tunes can tend to wear out their welcome and can sometimes lead me to reach for the skip button. I quickly moved on to CD 2 (Eastcoast). This is where you'll find your hard-earned money was well spent. This, in my opinion, is one of the, if not the best mix of progressive house and trance I have ever heard. Deep Dish shows you how being a DJ is not just about being able to mix two tracks together (which they happen to so superbly), but to take the listener on a journey. This CD not just should be, but DEMANDS to be listened to from beginning to end with no pauses or skips. To do it any other way would be like taking a quote out of the context of a conversation, it doesn't have the same meaning. The journey begins at the most minimial level, with the stunningly soothing vocal of Julie McKnight singing King's of Tomorrow's "Finally". The atmosphere builds through some driving progressive house to a beautifully trippy remix of Dusted's "Always Remember to Respect & Honour Your Mother" to the peak explosiveness of Greed's "Strangeworld" where the powerful sub-bass hits you like a freight train. Things level off with the bleepy apocalyptic mixes of "Afrika" and "I Wish You Were Here". Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer never sounded so good as her sample on "Innocente" and Morel and Espiritu lend the perfect come-down to this heavenly mix. Throughout the mix is a liberal use of sub-bass patterns (my personal favorite) which lend a feeling of power to even the most meek tune. This CD grips you and doesn't let go, taking you from blissed out house, through tripped out progessive madness to full-on club-shaking trance and back again. Make sure you have a good hour to yourself before starting this CD because it deserves your undivided attention.

        4 out of 5 stars Chill... chill............2002-02-02

So Deep Dish is always pulling out some original stuff... this is no exception. Great album to just relax to before or after a club. They throw some awesome jazz-funk into a few songs on disc 1 which is a nice change from the traditional electric accompaniment of trance.... all in all a great album... probably does not top their recently released GU-Moscow... disc 1 rocks from beginning to end.
