Stale attempt at launcing a new elitairian hype.......2006-12-25

Much too well produced in respect to the flavor, quality and atmosphere of the compositions. It is like trying to sell farmers outfit as haute couture, it does not do it right... Also I miss some deep wheathered soul that is usually immediately underneath the surface in gypsy-like music. Dancing to this music is virtually impossible without groteske amounts of home-brewn vodka.

Good sampler. Gives you an opportunity to check out a few of the most popular bands. I also highly recomment Boban Marcovic "Gipsy Flamenco" and any Cds by Loyko.

excellent work. these are mostly original songs, not remixes and they are very energetic. Great introduction to Central and Eastern European gypsy music

if you like this, also try 'Electric Gypsyland' which contains remixes by DJs of some of the tracks featured here.

Bucovina Club is a 2003 release, distributed in the US for the first time. Stefan Hantel, aka Shantel from Frankfurt/Main has firmly established himself as an all-around electronica producer with his previous albums Higher Than The Funk (K7!) and Great Delay. With Bucovina Club, Shantel presents sounds from Eastern Europe -- the brass bands of Macedonia and the gypsy swing of the Wallachei? to the Frankfurt dancefloor. The tracklist features artists such as Goran Bregovic, Taraf De Haidouks, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Kocani Orkestar, and Boban Markovic Orkestar, established names in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, some of whom have actually played the now-defunct Bucovina Club.
