You think you know, but you have no idea. While you and the rest of your cool friends pray at the altars of DJs such as Oakenfold, Digweed and Maas, DJs like Irene are ruling the masses of America. This 17-year scene vet has learned a lot in her eternal tenure in the underground. Now she's the best-selling female DJ in the country, has legions of followers (many of whom represent the massive gay circuit she's always championed) and topped the Billboard Dance Charts with the single "You're the Worst Thing for Me" (as Pusaka with Thunderpuss' Chris Cox and Thea Austin).

On Phonosynthesis, Irene comes out swinging, dropping larger-than-life beats, pulse-quickening crescendos and freaky vocal samples to create her sexually charged club utopia soundtrack. Opening with a classic Karen Findley sample, she (wo)manhandles bombastic breakbeats (Terminalhead), straight hardcore (Omar Santana) and even drum & bass (Aphrodite). This is more an experience than a mix, the sound of someone out to rip you a new one (while seducing your girlfriend back to her hotel room for some real fun). I haven't heard anyone bang this hard since the last time I caught Chicago's Psycho Bitch assaulting a hometown crowd. Bring on the battle royale!

New Fan But.......2004-10-26

I'm a new fan of DJ Irene especially feeling the beats of Infected, The Chopper and Longtime. Vocally, Longtime is the best song on this album. On the flip side, I hate Resurrection and have always wondered how this ever became a dance hit. The annoying sounds of Chainsaw had me forwarding to the next track. I like the concept of doing so many house tracks with less time on each. With so much music there will be hits and misses.

Irene is madd crazy, in the best way possible. "Phonosynthesis" is one of my all-time favorite albums, and I don't even like house one bit. She is typically placed in the category of being a "hard house" DJ, however this album has everything on it, house, jungle, hard house, trance, breaks...the list goes on and on. It'll keep you on the dancing all night long.

OMG! THE HARD HOUSE DIVA WENT PSYCO! THIS CD IS NON STOP! I LOVED IT FROM BEGINNING TO END. I THREW THIS CD IN AT A PARTY I THREW! PEOPLE WENT NUTS. EVERYONE GAVE ME MONEY TO GO BUY THEM A COPY! SHOOT. I BOUGHT LIKE 34 COPIES..AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE THAT MUCH AT ONE STORE! THIS CD IS AWESOME! "YOU ***** ******** YOU WANNA SUCK MY *****, WELL LET ME SUCK YOUR ****" HAHAHA! I LOVE THAT INTRO! I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM! WATCH OUT FOR HER NEW ALBUM! MAY 11, 2004: DJ IRENE - LIVE FROM LOS ANGELES!

A disappointing album from a great DJ.......2004-02-19

DJ Irene is great at spinning high energy sets. She mixes together trance, hard house, disco, and whatever else fits her fancy at the moment. She never lingers too long, so you don't have to worry if a selection isn't quite your thing. I've enjoyed her live several times and absolutely love her "Fearless" album.

That said, I don't really like this CD. It seems like there are enough popular songs so you'll think it will be easy to enjoy (eg: Tiesto, PPK, Cosmic Gate), but it never quite gels together in the same way her previous mixes have. Not only are there some pacing issues, but there's too many songs where I felt like hitting the skip button. Part of that for me is the increase in the amount of house on this CD, as I prefer a trancier sound. But on "Fearless" she kept the house/disco interesting, it never felt like it was dragging.

This CD dissapointed me, and I cannot recommend it. Get "Fearless" instead.

I just purchased this CD after hearing it at a friends house. It is by far one of the best CD's I have ever heard. The heavy hitting rythms and beats will pound into your head as you go crazy with excitement!!
