Editorial Reviews
Sounds From The Ground are Nick Woolfson and Elliot Morgan Jones, who met in the underground music scene in London. They released their debut album, 'Kin' on Waveform Records in 1996, with its classic ten minute anthem, 'Triangle.' Today, some eight years later, it continues to be fresh sounding and widely acclaimed - merging ambient, dub, trip hop and jazz styles and catching the imagination of listeners worldwide.
The duos second Waveform album, 'Terra Firma' was released in 2000 and helped secure SFTG as a satisfying and respected UK musical force. With its own favorite tracks like the urban tinged, 'Drugstore,' it also continues to be enthusiastically received. There have been stops along the way with a more vocal oriented release on Nettwerk Records, 'Natural Selection,' along with various tracks on compilations and European-only releases.
Now, Nick and Elliot have returned to their roots with their third Waveform title, 'Luminal.' More widescreen electronic panoramas with contributions from noteworthy guests like pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole, vocalist Rachael Calladine, Canada's talented throat singer Tanya Tagaq Gillis who has toured and performed with Bjork and appeared on David Letterman, dub maestro - Dillinger and UK vocalist Taz.
Pick your own future 'Luminal' classics from the focus tracks, 'Stampede,' 'As the Day Goes By' with Tanya Tagaq Gillis, 'Razz,' 'Tumbledown' with BJ Cole, the vocal intensive 'Move On' with Taz and pretty much everything else on the album.
The light still burns and the good time vibes continue, from Sounds From the Ground with 'Luminal' another important transmission from Waveform Records.

Album Description
'Love Zero' is a distinct mix of potent baselines, driving and emotive guitar work, groove inflicting rhythms and percussion, and daftly layered synthesizers. The songs combine Kraut-rock intelligence, synth-pop accessibility, and the immediacy of punk rock, and then move on to gut-level experimentalism - razing all points in between. "Their sound is haunting, atmospheric, and not the least bit cliché---sort of like Ultravox with a krautrock chaser, The Jesus and Mary Chain with a hush. The Prids are dreamy yet powerful to the point of pulverization." - Rochester City NewspaperCustomer Reviews:
Pure goth rock bliss.......2004-07-05
This is never more evident than on the title track, "Love Zero".
Love Zero is comprised largely by the interplay of Mistina Keith's bass and David Fredrickson's guitar. Drummer Lee Zeman does an admirable job keeping everything together.
The brilliant keyboards of Jairus Smith are used less than I would like, but it works for the goth rock they have so absolutely committed themselves.
Strongest tracks are "The Problem", "Panic Like Moths", "You as the Colorant", "...", and "Contact".
The Prids may not be breaking new ground with their songwriting, but they do capture the essence of the great European groups of the late 70s and early 80s much better than any other American band.
Perfection........2003-12-04
Long live the Prids.
Post-Punk Influence (3.5).......2003-11-01
Originating in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later finding their way to the great Northwest town of Portland, Oregon, The Prids are a band that sound as collectively great as their influences. They have an extremely dark and gothic-like approach, and do so in a particularly fresh and new (wave) style. Similar to other bands from the current west coast post-punk scene, the identifying fashion statement here is dark hair, black clothes, and pale skin.
On Love Zero, there are moments that are much stronger than others. At times, songs like "The Problem" tend to be a little "light" in tone, but are quickly taken to the other end of the spectrum with songs like "All Apart and No Fall." A lot of the guitar, keyboard, and bass instrumentations are very similar to the way Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, and even goth-masters Fields of the Nephilim utilized effects to give their sound a more detached and cold feeling. At the same time, though, The Prids create such a large sound by utilizing these effects (and production) to really hammer things home. The centerpiece, "Llorar," is probably the best example of this with its combination of all these sounds that show them at their most successful. "Artificial Heart Designer" breaks the focus, and leaves me wondering why such a drastic change was placed on the album. I believe it would've been better suited somewhere else.
Needless to say, I'm very excited about the majority of Love Zero. Although comparisons will be inevitable in every review you'll read of theirs, they still have the ability to stand their own ground and keep those influences at a comfortable level. If you like any of the bands mentioned at the top of this page, chances are you're going to appreciate this music. There are only a few bands today reliving this somewhat small genre, but The Prids do an above-par job in staying true to their influences.

Product Description
"Alot like the strangely euphoric sensation you get when laid up in bed with a low grade fever. A gloomy vibe lands somewhere between Gang of Four and The Sisters of Mercy, but you'll never peg it as college-rock or goth." Mark Sorvari picked up the electric guitar at the age of 12. Without any formal training, he began to bash out sounds and develop a playing style of his own. In 1992, just out of high school, Mark got together with 2 like minded musicians and formed the 3 piece Minneapolis, MN based band Arm, which in five years, became one of the most beloved acts in the area's proud punk/indie history. In 1997, after 5 years of playing, recording, 2 7" releases (one of which was on BABES IN TOYLAND drummer Lori Barbero's label SPANISH FLY), one self-released vinyl only LP (engineered by Chris Roseanau ), one SXSW appearance, various tours (with the likes of Karate, Compound Red, and Guzzard), they called it quits....as they all had other persuits in the works. In 2002, wedding bells rang, and Mark relocated to Tokyo, Japan. He had met Nao many years earlier through her work with the band SEAGULL SCREAMING KISS HER KISS HER. He continued writing/recording solo pieces, exploring his new found love of recording. In early 2003, he got together with 2 friends, Justin Simon (WE ACEDIASTS, INVISIBLE CONGA PEOPLE, MESH-KEY RECORDS) and Jun Hieda (Comeback My Daughters). 2 weeks later they performed their first show under the randomly choosen name No T-Shirt. In early 2005, they self-released a split 7" entitled TEARS with Chicago's ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE. Eventually, the 7" was co-released with Luminal Records and distributed through Stickfigure. On the eve of the release of the SHORT SHORT LAND EP, seeing how the band had mutated from its original form.....3 drummers, 3 bassists had passed through, Mark being the only original member, he decided that a name change was in order.......something not quite as grotesque. In Dec. 2005, IN CORRIDORS was chosen.

great new music.......2002-12-19
So, I have to say the reviewer from Gothic Paradise got it right. There is a lot of great new material and new groups on this disk. And I especially like the fact the compilation gives a mix of tunes without simply sticking to goth, ebm, industrial, etc. Finally someone understands people's tastes are wide spread and a lot of us aren't caught up in forcing ourselves into one style. This is a good purchase if you crave new music.

A rare mix of guitar stylings à la Unwound, Neil Diamond-esque vocals, pounding hardcore rhythm lines and new wave electronica, Other Men My Age have come up with a unique and singular sound. Brandishing an impressive avant-garde aesthetic while still allowing listeners to sublimely shake their collective asses, "Imaginadium", the new EP by Other Men My Age continues to break the boundaries of art punk hardcore set forth by the band members' previous incarnations, at once showing their acute talent while grasping new boundaries.

Album Description
"Morthem Vlade Art's precise, melancholy, electronic sound means they won't ever be mistaken for pop idols. It's a shame, because until the mid-80s you could be a quirky synthesizer pop genius, and it didn't matter how bleak your songs, you could still have chart success. Morthem Vlade Art are a band dislocated in time and can now only look forward to inhabiting the fringes of pop music, which is fine because things are always more interesting there."- The Guardian (UK) five stars (out of 5)
