After his string of legendary progressive mix albums for GU and Renaissance's 'The Masters Series', Dave Seaman unleashes his newest concept...'The Therapy Sessions'
Each Therapy Sessions release will see a split 2XCD mix album, with Dave Seaman on disc one, and a handpicked future star of tomorrow on disc two. To get things started with a bang, Dave has enlisted Australia's progressive breaks master, Phil K, for Volume 1. Little wonder, as Phil is the undoubted superstar DJ of tomorrow, being widely acknowledged by DJs such as Sasha as technically the best in the world9.
The track selection and mixing reveal the next level in progressive house and breaks without ever losing sight of the dancefloor. Features upfront tracks & remixes from The Crystal Method, Cass, Infusion, Luke Chable, The PQM Project, Nubreed, and Phil K.

Album Description
Dance music fans will no doubt rejoice that one of the scene's most influential DJs, Dave Seaman, has returned with the third installment of his acclaimed 'Therapy Sessions'. This new release comes hot on the heels of Seaman's acclaimed release, 'Renaissance The Masters Series Part 7', which racked up massive fan and press accolade, with UK dance bible M8 Magazine declaring "In terms of mixing and musicality, it raises the bar. Storming ingredients, masterfully cooked." For 'The Therapy Sessions Vol. 3', Seaman has assembled an incredible collection of progressive house, electro, and breakbeat. As with all 'Therapy Sessions' releases, Dave has hand picked an up and coming act to handle the mixing duties on disc two: this time it's budding UK duo Lexicon Avenue. Lexicon Avenue deliver a jaw dropping mix on disc two that will undoubtedly establish their name with stateside dance music fans coast to coast. Features tracks & remixes by Plastikman, King Unique, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, Satoshi Tomiie, Cagedbaby, Freeform Five, Dylan Rhymes, Ame, Radioslave and Linus Loves.Customer Reviews:
2 Good CD's.......2007-01-18
My First Impressions of The Therapy Sessions Series.......2006-12-29
Where did he expect to take us with disc 1 (his mix)? Over bubbly and generally flat beats, the variation is just *not there*. Disc 1 seems to be purely audio [...] on Dave's part, and in my opinion is only suitable for driving unwanted guests from a house party (be sure to give your real friends a head's up that the second disc is on its way though! They will be sure to stay.) Listening to that album is like willingly taking the SAT's for fun.
I say this because Lexicon Avenue's following mix CD is one of the best I have heard in a LONG, long time. I just picked up some albums from much more revered artists and I can't stop returning to this relatively new group's offering. Turn up the subwoofers and let the intense ride begin. They mix the album well, the track selection is fantastic, the pace is consistent and varies in all the correct places. Most of all, I find it comforting to find that not only those 'world-famous' DJ's or groups are capable of producing discs which I return to on a habitual basis. Lexicon Avenue is definitely a group whose solo releases I will be diving into without hesitation from here on out. They outdid themselves with their disc 2.
Locate a friend with the album who feels oppositely and buy the Lex disc off him. Although, I will admit, for eighteen bucks I would purchase the double-disc volume just for the second disc, as it could have been a solo release for Lexicon Avenue.
I can't give this album any higher than three stars because of disc 1; if I had to split the rating I've given for the CD as a whole amongst its two halves, however, I'd give Seaman half a star and Lexicon Avenue the rest, hands down.
~Lex
Dave is good; but in Bandwagon with Lexicon Avenue driving!!!.......2006-12-28
Disc 2 has a lot more house in it. Just like their Nite Life release and their famous track "Dusk Before Dawn", they do a brilliant job. I won't go into all the detail, but I give disc 2 5/5.
Dave has yet to beat the Master(s). Dave rides the bandwagon, but still does an all right job. I still like his other stuff though.
Overall, a good effort for both partners live from Audio Therapy!!!
Very Good .......2006-11-03
Seaman rides the band wagon... LEXICON AVENUE STRIKES BACK!!!.......2006-10-20
Suprisingly (not really...), what the Geordie boys delivered is a chuggin, edgey, bicep-flexin' onslaught of housey, groovin, tribal-tech and acid-burned beats. Bradford and Co. augment the tension effortlessly, culling an electronic amalgam of disparate tracks from different genres, which somehow manage to flow together like the innner mechanisms of some complex, well-oiled techno machine.
'Superflyin', by Cubic (Chus & Ceballos/Calderone) is a funky thrust of mean, driving, techno-tribal punishment, while the dark, menacing, sulfuric-etched grooves of Lexicon Avenue's own 'That Acid track', offer a post-progressive take on both a familiar, inimitable production prowess and a nostalgic, revolutionary sound which some (few, actually) are pulling off better than others as of late...
Hands down, this is the hottest and most well executed Lexicon Avenue mix compilation to date and offers a fresh, seamless, bangin' set of tracks. The cummulative vibe is one complete synchronicity: DJ's and producers at the top of their game and thoroughly enjoying and improvising every moment of the trip - "THIS-IS-WHY-YOU'RE-HERE!"
Regrettably, Dave Seaman's mix stumbles and falters by comparison. The mix begins with promise, however, featuring dub-tech dirtiness by Habersham, Kupon and Stelios. Unfortunately, by track 6, the mix is suddenly ambushed by the obnoxious, electro, high-end annoyance that is Freeform Five's remix of more electro/retro/disco flotsam. And then the mix continues to implode further into an emotionless, abrasive soundscape, reminiscent of unpleasant dental work...
Pick up this comp for the Lexicon mix alone and then listen to how the vibe and beat of progessive house is used as a weapon of 'bass' destruction by New Castle's wickedest...

Customer Reviews:
if only this was just phil!.......2006-02-12
With the exception of a couple of songs i fell in love with his song selection. #5 is the standout.
It is worth the money just for the second cd. I promise.
Truly a quality mix album.......2004-10-04
I'll skip the track by track analysis this time around (sorry, I'm tired tonight). The first disc, mixed by Seaman, is a solid, classic sounding house. It starts off slowly, smoothly, like the oustanding opening tracks from his Global Underground: Melbourne set. The beat slowly picks up, but thankfully melody is not forgotten. The disc is never cheesy or uplifting, mind you, but it's never dark or oppressive either.
Phil K offers up some mellow breakbeats for inspection on the album's second disc. While they lack the polish and magistry of Sasha's Involver tracks, Phil K's disc is definitely akin to Sasha's latest in style. For me, this was a great thing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the laid back style of the CD. Like Seaman, Phil K (rightfully so) believes in easing the listener into the mix, slowly ramping up the intensity and basslines.
The Therapy Sessions isn't really "the essential house album" or as sensational as Sasha's Involver. But it is a consistently good listen, with some outstanding cuts (Vance Musgrove - Music In The 24th & A Half Century, Luke Chable - Melburn, Nubreed - One Day (Phil K's DJ Re-Edit), just to name a few), and no real flaws to bring it down. It's not ground breaking by any stretch of the imagination, but it's through and through a great double-disc set with some great progressive house and breaks. Check it out.
Good, if maybe a little dissapointing.......2004-07-22
Dave Seaman's mix is a standard progressive house mix. The first track caught my ear right away with it's spacey tribal beats and floating synths, and from there, listening to the mix the whole way through, I didn't hear much that I didn't like. Dave spins deep, melodic progressive house with deep basslines and repetitive thumping beats with just enough melody to keep everyone awake. Some of the better tracks include Sterio & McGrath's "Hostile Ground", Cass' "Giant", and Stel & Good Newz' "Particle", the latter of which might be one of the best progressive house tracks I've ever heard. The rolling bassline and epic chiming synths are just out of this world. A perfect closer. Progressive house fans should be weary however, as Seaman spins some very serious progressive house. He eschews funky basslines and tribal beats for droning, repetitive percussions with airy melodies that will probably appeal more to trance fans than your average house fan. It's a kind of middle of the road approach I suppose. Be forewarned.
Phil K's mix is interesting. Starting off with some gorgeous down-tempo breakbeat numbers, he creates a lush intro that will instantly transport you to another world. He doesn't waste time picking up the pace though, and by about midway through the CD, you're listening to some of the funkiest breakbeats you've ever heard. Some are very catchy and will force you to move with the music, while others are just abrasive and hard to listen to. Definitely interesting stuff though. I particularly enjoyed Vance Musgrove's "Music In The 24th & a half Century", and Nubreed's "One Day". Listen with an open mind, and you'll more than likely find something you enjoy.
Though not among the best Renaissance or Dave Seaman have ever released, this is still a worthy purchase. I recommend Dave Seaman and breakbeat fans check it out, though don't be surprised when high expectations are not quite met.
therapy.......2004-06-14
Not really a true Renaissance title, so what'd you expect?.......2004-06-08
Disc one gets off to an incredibly slow start. Maybe Dave was busy doing something else while mixing, so he just put on some long, slow records so he could walk away from the decks for a while! It isn't until track 3 that the pace finally starts to pick up, and the sounds start to get interesting. Dave's mix has its moments - the version of Paul Jackson's The Push is great, but sounds out of place after Infusion's Girls Can Be Cruel. The Redanka track is pretty awful, but is situated between two of the best tracks in the mix - Ernest St. Lauren's Do Ya Dub, and Stel & Good Newz - Particle.
Disc two gets off to an even slower start. In fact, I reccomend skipping the first track entirely. There are a few good tracks on this breaks mix, but not much variety. The Operator's Furball is amazing, but I first heard the track almost two years ago on another, better, Phil K mix. The mix I mentioned was a free promo CD from a UK magazine and remains one of the best mixes I've ever heard. In fact, Phil K.'s reputation was the main selling point for me to buy this album. But poor track selections like the worst tune of the year - Born Too Slow, and that horrible track 1, make this mix pretty hard to listen too.
Skip this album and get a true Renaissance title.

Album Description
Renaissance and Dave Seaman return with the second installment of The Therapy Sessions two-CD mix set. This year budding Australian DJ/producer Luke Chable handles the bonus guest disc honors with a tough, breaks-fuelled extravaganza that draws heavily on his fellow Melbourne compatriots, alongside some of his own acclaimed tracks and remixes. Dave's disc takes him in a new distinct new musical direction. Taking cue from his Group Therapy moniker - featured here with an exclusive reprise and remix of new wave stars Tears for Fears `Closest Thing to Heaven' - Dave drops a fresh-faced blend of electro-tinged funk with rock elements that will take your breath away.Customer Reviews:
A therapy session for the bipolar trance fan in you.......2007-02-19
That being said, I can assure you he is so stylistically out of place that his music is daunting at first. It bears no resemblance to the likes of any of Seaman's work... yet, it is quite fantastic. Therapy Sessions 2 is a wonderful package of unexpected electronica bipolarity.
Seaman's mix is a solid progressive mix beginning with fuzzy electro-influenced progressive trance a la Masters Series Pt. 7, and then quickly glides into some more well-known tracks that can be identified the moment the melody drops in, which is unlike Seaman, but these songs completely work in the context of their environment. The highlight of Seaman's disc is the journey from tracks six through twelve, beginning with a well-done Rabbit In The Moon remix of "Diamond Dust", and ending with Stel & Good Newz' "Little Soul". The best tracks are, in my opinion, "Finding Time" and "In My Heart" (tracks 10 & 11, respectively). The flow to be found on the second half of Seaman's disc is one of the best I'd found in 2005 and I still listen to the CD regularly.
It's a great mix in its own right, and would even work as a single CD if released by itself - but in lieu of Seaman's previous works, which I find more inspired and entrancing, I cannot help but return to some of his previous Renaissance releases like Awakening, Desire & America, and even his sets for Global Underground, more often than this disc.
Luke Chable's mix is on a completely different level. Not that it's better, nor that it's worse, than Dave Seaman's effort. It's just a completely different style and I am surprised that Dave would consider Luke to assist him with this disc.
Luke Chable's mix is pure berserk break-beat, and I feared for the life of my subwoofers when the bass kicked in full-force on track one. Chable presents us with a fierce rampage through entertaining tracks laced with the occasional cheese vocal, but what stands out most in my mind is the way Chable resembles James Zabiela in the way he would just blatantly mess with the tracks - stop-start, spinning backwards, scratching, bubbly laser-esque audio insertions - just some crazy and unexpected stuff. I really enjoyed it, because the monotony of break-beat, which I usually don't listen to (save Adam Freeland and Hybrid) tends to turn me off. Luke Chable has proven that he is much more than just an Aussie producer, which is how I knew his name before popping this disc in. Not for the faint of heart, especially if one cannot be conservative with the volume knob... but then, what's life without your heart thumping outta your chest as you let the madness overtake you?
Bipolarity Therapy? I'll take it!
~Lex
electro shock therapy that is; cant wait for it to be over........2006-01-15
Dave Seamans CD is better of the two mixes. Technically he is damn good, but then again when you have CDs released you better know your stuff. As for the tracks, very poor to mediocre. There are a couple of decent tracks but otherwise its a random collection of material that just doesnt go well together. You know when you go to a club and you hear a dj just randomly pull stuff out of his bag last minute trying to make a set when its very obvious he hasn't planned it out? Well thats what this CD sounds like. From DS I was expecting a LOT more thought and quality but instead its as if he was making this mix out of revenge to the recording industry. As a key figure in trance and prog sound, this wasn't anywhere near his other works.
Luke Chable... what a disaster. I know who he is and what he has done but to put him on a trance / progressive mix series??? Some of the tracks were trash that maybe a high school dj-wanna-be kid might play. The break trance/dance stuff was horid. Then there were other tracks that sounded like club-hits from 15 years ago. Perhaps I am too old to appreciate this music but if you know anything about musical theory, trance music, or about the psychology behind sounds and emotion then you will want to avoid this.
I left feeling like this was a freestyle, non planned mix going absolutely nowhere. Therapy Session 2 is the title; well it felt like electro-shock therapy session that was very uncofortable and you couldnt wait for it to finish. Djs should not be allowed to put this kind of crap out. Avoid...
CD1 Solid, CD2 OK.......2005-08-01
CD1 Mixed by Dave Seaman from 1st to last track is solid. A great representation of progressive without getting too techy or too vocal on the listener. I absolutely love it and it has become one of my favorite mixes so far this year. 5 Stars.
CD2 Mixed by Luke. It is similar to this new experimental techy progressive that many djs are introducing this year.
Successfully: Sasha Fundancion and Digweed Fabric 20.
Unsuccessfully: Chris Fortier Balance 007
Fortier either love or hate. I hated it, but if you loved it you will certainly enjoy Luke's mix.
Nonetheless, unlike Fortier, Luke puts together something that you can actually listen to. If you are in the mood for some dirty noisy progressive or some breaks slamming against your head this is it. I have enjoyed this compilation because as noisy and techy as it sounds, it still pretty good music (unlike Fortier's extremely annoying Balance effort, which falls flat on its face). So this Cd deserves 3 stars in my opinion, since I can't listen to it on a regular basis. Nonetheless, that is pretty subjective, so if you are into breaks you will certainly love this.
Conclusion Dave's 5 and Luke's 3 give this compilation 4 stars.
disc 1 funky progressive..disc 2 breaks breaks breaks!!.......2005-06-14
Australia's Luke Chable brings out the breaks in full swing on disc 2, and he even has a couple of tracks that go in a totally different direction (Moondusted, Skyline Rd.) but sound perfectly intertwined into the compilation. Chable's Tokyo and Skyline Rd. take the spotlight i think, and I believe Chables compilation slightly edges Seaman's (I love breaks). Anyways, this CD is off the meat rack. Get it.
A special place for Dave Seaman.......2005-06-09
