Get your dancing shoes on!.......2000-06-11
With great tunes like Shame, and More, More, More this CD hits the mark.
But the BEST song on the compilation is Vicki Sue Robinsons "HOLD TIGHT". If this tune doesn't get you up and dancing, you're dead! And it times in at over 11 minutes!
If you remember these songs, order this CD before it disappears. It's a great deal.

more more more.......2006-09-12
1. "More More More" you've all heard it. wonderful. 10/10
2. "Party Line" this was another one of her singles, and while not as good as "More More More", this one is fun. I like it. 8/10
3. "NY You Got Me Dancing" another single, and her second biggest hit. I don't like it as much as "Party Line", although it's not bad and i do enjoy it. It has some similarities to "More More More", but this one is faster. 7/10
4. "What's Your Name What's Your Number" aside from some cheesy vocals ("i went dancing at a disco last night. i saw this guy..i think i saw the light!") this one has a very good groove. Very funky and fun. 8/10
5. "Sally Can't Dance" I really don't like this one. This one's a little more funky rock and roll as opposed to disco. 2/10
6. "Keep It Up Longer" i really loved this one. This is what disco music was all about, a great beat, frantic strings, trumpets blaring. I really like her vocals on this one. It gets a bit too instrumental towards the middle, but it's still my second favorite after "More More More" 9/10
7. "White Witch" This is the worst song on the album for me. It's a reggae song in which she sings with a Jamaican accent. Sorry, this just doesn't work! 0/10
8. "Call Me" this one is in the same vein as "Keep It Up Longer". Another disco track. this one's a little more generic though, but still good 7/10
9. "Life Is What You Make It" don't really like this one, it sounds like something the Partridge Family, Brady Kids or the Monkees would have sung. Very generic and uninspired. 1/10
10. "It's All Up To You" the second worst song after "White Witch" even though they're both pretty bad. This is a mid-temo number, but i just can't get into it. especially with the spoken-word bridge "Each person sees life in his or her own way. So whether or not you do good or bad, you must live with yourself! It's all up to you!" 1/10 *groan*
OVERALL, this CD has some good qualities and some real disco gems. But when it's bad, it's bad. overall, if you like More More More i suggest you at least check it out.

NO DISCONNECTIONS WITH DISCO CONNECTION!.......2007-04-01
However, when I listen to this compliamation, I get just as much as a kick out of this as I would when I put on Al Green's Greatest Hits or Prince's Hits and B Sides box set (anybody would if they're open minded). It's underground disco music of this quality that proves that the genre is highly influential and not as disposable as some critics and some music fans would like to think it is. I agree with another reviewer because I too prefer this type of dance music over the commercial stuff being put out at the time.
But enough of all that, let's talk about the music! Warner Strategic Marketing is known for hookin' fans up with top notch compliamations and this one is no exception. Disco Connection focuses on tracks that were famous in clubs in the late 70's and early 80's, but fail to make much of a dent on the pop charts. These tracks are absoulutely hot with some third degree standouts including "Weekend", "Whistle Bump", and "Paradise" just to name a few. Many of these has a sense of rawness and authenic qaulity that were often missing from the commercial artists. The beats thump harder and the bass and piano loop are a lot deeper-making many of these tracks sound almost like a house mixtape
What's also noteworthy is the broadness of the material. This complimation generally has something for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're into euro disco, disco soul, funk disco, or even jazzy island style dance music- there's something for every dance music freak to get connected to with this complimation.
The way the tracks are sequenced will make you feel like this is a unreleased classic album rather than a compliamation since the tracks has the mood swings of a regular studio album from song to song.
There's nothing more I can say about this. With dance music this hot who needs an oasis! I'm about to go and play this some more and if you feel like dancin', you need to buy this album becuase once you're disco connected- you're be dancin long distance into the mourning light!.......Now do you see the light!

which was ran by Ray Caviano using great DJ's like Larry
Levan and Jim Burgess to remix some songs for extended dance
play.
My only lament is the limited version of "Smack Dab in the Middle" by Janice McClain, that Levan mix is under 5 minutes,
the 12" I have runs over 6 minutes, which Larry really does
justice to the song.
And a better selection for Kleer should have been " Keep your
body workin" and not " tonights the night".
Otherwise a super selection of great songs from Warner Brothers
that also showcased Freddie James " Get up and Boogie.

Richard Kleiderman disco or East European disco?.......2001-12-20
I enjoy "Join The Dance" and "Do Me Good" (the former in particular, which is a better track than the latter). At the 3 minute mark of the former, the lushful, excessively fresh, youthful singing is discarded at once and the song's melody structure changes to a repetitive East European routine, demonstrating what I said in the previous paragraph.
"Do Me Good" employs enjoyable tunes, however strange they might be. "There's A Way..." is of roughly the same caliber as "Do Me Good". "I'd Like To Get Closer" has a pretty good tune and melody, its beat is darn good too and it has very intense string arrangements - to a higher degree than the degree of the string arrangements on the other tracks, which is pretty high anyway.
As with virtually every Midney project, the lyrics are pretty shallow, not to mention being cartoony, childish and the schoolgirly singing. Unfortunately Midney seems to accentuate this charecteristic of Eurodisco more than any other producer of his niche.
Midney's most typical.......2001-08-07
It's Disney World on acid!
Frenzied as they are, the string/rhythm arrangements are beyond reproach, surpassing those of Chic and any other string-nutty disco producers I can think of, except for Celso Valli and Ashford & Simpson (if you've read this far, you probably know who they are. Your booty certainly does).
As for the much-criticized schoolgirly chorus - love 'em or leave 'em, I say, but dig this: These records are so certain in conceptualization, they might not have worked at all without them.
Side A, "I'd Like To Get Closer/Do Me Good" is the better twirl... however, "Join The Dance/There's a Way Into My Heart" is the circuit "classic," caned to death in recent years by my fave circuit dj's (AHEM, SUSANNNN ????)

T-Connection at their very best.......2005-12-01
The biggest difficulty I find with the 'oldies' is that tracks you were not into at the time, or were simply not familiar with have an even more difficult task of winning you over in the later years because they sound somewhat dated and obviously do not have that "good ol' memories" card to play! In otherwords, they have to be VERY GOOD to impress!
Well, this album stands up to this scrutiny and more!!
"Pure & Natural" has been quite an eye opener for me regarding what T-connection is all about!! I had the group down as uptempo disco beats but I now stand corrected. T-connection are actually better at the mid-tempo stuff! - and that's got to be saying something!
"The best of my love" is superb and has a timeless ring to it - the sort that you simply love forever. "A little more love" does not disappoint and "Slippin' away" is simply outstanding!
If the reader is going to pick ONE T-connection album to add to their collection from a list that includes even the ubiquitous "best of" compilations, then "Pure & Natural" would be my uncontested recommendation.
Pros: Not a one track album! Excellent composition, timeless melodies, superb mid-tempo and slow tracks and if that is not enough, features "Girl Watching"!
Cons: May not suit those after uptempo "dance classics" only.
Verdict: This album does not disappoint if you are as much into your dance classics as your mid-tempo and slow grooves! GET IT!

LUSH ,SEXY, AND PULSATING RHYTHMS! .......2007-04-03
"Bourgie Bourgie" is perhaps Ashford and Simpson's best track next to "Solid". The track gradually builds to a climax with a jazzy piano loop and a solid backbeat substaining the groove. "Cosmic Lust" is a deep slab of funky disco courtesy of Mass Production. The track does a great job of using the synthesizer to create this acid/phychadelic effect to build up to a funky groove. While "That's where the happy People Go" by The Trammps is not a standout on the set, I prefer this over the dated and overplayed "Disco Inferno". I love the tracks by Chaka Khan and Goody Goody, but the song that steal the show is "Why Leave us Alone" by Five Special. This song is the climax of this set as it touch on every style of music that's on the album by extending itself to the 10 minute mark.
While every song on here is great in every way, there are a couple of questionable choices. Why is Chic's "Everybody Dance" and Sister Sledge's "He's the Greatest Dancer" on a set with underground cult classics? Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't those pop hits?
They're great songs, but since those songs were major mainstream hits, they don't fit in well with the rest of the tracks on the album (since this album is suppose to present listeners with tracks that were famous in the clubs and not pop hits). But then again, they were also club hits and that could the reason for them being included on this set.
Those questionable song choices aside, what you're get from Disco Connection Vol 2 is nothing short of sweet and sweaty satsifaction.
If you can't get to that, get the CD and see where I'm coming from when I tell you these grooves beat hard enough to shatter a mirror ball!

An insider's take on The T-Connetion's Music.......1998-11-27
The band attained its greatest measure of success during the late 70's while signed to 'TK' records.'TK' records was the label responsible for the Miami sound at that time with the likes of K.C and The Sunshine Band, Bobby Caldwell and many others. The song entitled "Do What You Want to do " (on TK records) by the T Connection went number one on Billboard magazine's disco chart for several weeks and was nominated for a grammy in 1977 but lost out to Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way".
The Album "Everything is Still Cool" contains an interesting blend of music that incorporates certain elements of Earth Wind and Fire's style along a unique blend of rock and Island music from the Bahamas, Namely goombay and Junkanoo music.

Album Description
T-Connection were formed in the Bahamas in 1975, but shortly after forming decided Miami, Florida would be a better place for their music. Once there they signed to the TK Records disco label Dash, where they release their first album, Magic, and one of the first singles to be released as a 12" - Do What You Wanna Do - a classic disco track that always fills the dance floor. In the UK this was soon followed by more disco with On Fire which reached the top 20, and further top 75 hits with Let Yourself Go, At Midnight, Saturday Night and Totally Connected - all included on this collection. After this success they signed with Capitol Records where they continued to have further hits singles including Everything Is Cool which reached the UK top 20. Every track is the full, extended version and as with all Something For The Weekend collections, all tracks are classics from soul weekenders. EMI. 2006.Album Details
