This piece has the smooth taste of tequila without the hangover. Regardless of where you are when you are listening to it, you can feel the sounds taking you directly to the club.

Just like the first release- Al Fresco, Espace Prive once more delivers the same energy, groove, and deep house sound. Ben Sowton is THE MASTER of bargrooves and he just keeps pushing the envelope. CD starts off with the great Miguel Migs and then everything else follows. I highly recommend this as a next investment to the Bargrooves series. There's a lot of power in this CD, a slight diversion to the jazzy approach found in Al Fresco, nevertheless this CD is a must have. Jump in a car, play "City People" and you are on your way to groove land.

A Double Disc Compilation of Deep House That Hits the Spot........2004-09-18

I'm relatively new to the Bargrooves series (yeah, I know: shame on me), and it wasn't until recently did I begin to pick up their compilations. Those who like their house soulful and percussion-heavy will get plenty of kicks out of "Espace Prive," which is two discs of mixed jams of deep house that's in the vein of Naked Music or Hed Kandi. On the first disc, we get saxaphone-heavy house (Miguel Migs' "City People"), Khai Mar's jumpin' "Music for the People," and the funky "Copycat" by Bod and Echofalls. The beat doesn't let up on the second disc, which is my favorite. "The Session" by Tribute has that retro '70s/jazzy vibe that's near impossible to resist, and the chilled "Samba de Ile" by Banda Favela is a pretty, percussion-filled number that incorporates live instrumentation and a Latin vibe. These are great discs for those long drives, working out at the gym, or a good disc to chill to late at night after the club. I was so pleasantly surprised with these CDs, and I look forward to exploring other Bargrooves CDs. Grade: B+.
