Editorial Reviews

URB, June 2004
Robots In Disguise are the wheat amidst the electroclash chaff.

Product Description
At the height of our disembodied digital era, two robots come disguised as two fun loving girls to deliver their electro-rock message to humanity!

Sue Denim and Dee Plume are Robots In Disguise, burning up the cold world of electro and giving us the most exciting duo of the moment!

In their role as modern punkettes, Robots In Disguise sing through megaphones, play guitars and solo on school instruments. The result could be described as The Cure meets The Slits, with hints of ESG at an electronic convention. The album is produced by Chris Corner (aka I AM X), founder and lead member of Brit rockers, Sneaker Pimps.

This U.S. version will include two exclusive remixes by industrial band Sin and English electronica act, Hidden Agenda.

5 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Sleaze.......2004-12-09

If you cross the ultra sex of IAMX (Chris Corner of Sneaker Pimps)with 2 perky girls on vocals, you have Robots in Disguise. Full of slick 80's synths and beats not unlike The Faint, but with more a touch of pseudo-innocence. Definitely a record you want to have playing during your makeout sessions!

5 out of 5 stars My new Favorite CD.......2004-10-19

I haven't been able to stop listening to this album. Nearly every song is amazing, and its not quite the same each time I hear it. I love every song on the album, with the exception of "boys". go download a few songs, and then come back and buy the CD. I recommened downloading "arguments" "diy" and "postcards from" first.

4 out of 5 stars Definetly worth checking out........2004-08-15

Slick disc. Beats are programmed by Chris Corner of the Sneaker Pimps. Makes your mouth water for their upcomming release.

      Album Description

Robots In Disguise' self-titled debut album was released in 2004 to critical acclaim. The Robots, members Sue Denim and Dee Plume, are back with their DIY attitude, while adding a dance floor factor.

Produced by Chris Corner of the Sneaker Pimps, the second album has a broader appeal, with songs that are as refreshing as they are dance floor oriented - as evidenced by their intergalactic singles like "The DJ's Got A Gun," and "Mirror Rorrim," or their daring cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me."

      Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars 'Turn it Up'.......2006-08-14

R.I.D. are stealth pop geniuses. Hook after hook, especially on "Turn it up" and "La Nuit." There's some filler as well but these songs linger long after the luster on the nu-Electro party in your town has faded.

4 out of 5 stars RID are NOT an electro-pop act.......2006-05-28

Don't let the drum machine fool you. RID are an indie band, who sometimes use lots of synths, and sometimes use guitars. They are also clever and VERY wry. The vocal hook from the first track "The DJ's got a Gun", a sarcastic swipe at the club scene, is a vocoded "everybody get your hands in the air and get down on the floor." If you don't find that funny, you probably won't "get" RID. I prefer their previous album, which is more musically sparse with heavy-handed bass, to this album, which is more 'neo-new-wave', but this is still a good CD. Favorite Tracks: "Turn it Up" (more like their first CD) and "The DJ's Got a Gun".

1 out of 5 stars Djeez, get yourselves 2gether!.......2006-01-24

One good song (La nuit) on a terrible album. This has nothing to do with proper electronic sounds; to be compared with Miss Kittin is a downright insult to Miss Kittin herself.
This album is a good example of uninspired musicians trying to ride along with the electro hype currently invading Europe.
If you're looking for wellproduced albums, try Fischerspooner, The Hacker, Anthony Rother, DJ Hell, or the real deal in electropop: Vive La Fête.

      5 out of 5 stars Something unique.......2005-08-24

Got these guys on a recommendation. They rock my world. They are kinda like a cross between le tigre and Miss Kittin. I love them !!!
