I absolutely LOVE this cd!!!.......2007-06-08

A friend of mine had this cd a while back and we could never figure out what the name of it was because all she had was the disc and nothing else with it. I fell in love with the cd and I haven't stopped looking for it until today. If you are a person that enjoys trance, techno, or any other music that has a hyped beat to it, you will love this cd.

Trance pablum........2006-12-25

Trance Party does a good job of nailing down pop trance tunes. And by pop, I mean catchy dance tunes and literally popular songs. Each one is a tried and true club track. They can all be found on an enormous amount of other various artist compilations. Even the casual weekend tecnho-phile won't find anything new here. The selection here actually crosses into the territory of 'overplayed'.
I can't fault this CD on the music because it delivers party songs just as it advertises in the title. However it can be faulted for it's mixing and rapid-fire presentation. The mixing is horrible. I don't even think you can legally call this mixing. Each track cuts off at an odd point and is immediately smacked into the next. The songs aren't full versions either. They have been compressed and chopped down into bite-size 3-4 minute portions.
The whole CD gives you the party trance you've asked for and feeds it to you like pablum. If you have higher aspirations for this CD (or trance in general), you may be offended. For nicely gathering these well-known songs in one place, this CD gets it's props. For treating it's listeners like they are all uneducated in actual trance or mixes it gets it's lumps. If you don't have much of a trance library, this might be good to pick up for a few bucks. Definately not worth the $15+ that Amazon is currently selling it for!

This is one of THE BEST albums I have ever bought in my life!

15 out of the 16 tracks are EXCELLENT !!! (this is VERY UNUSUAL) The only track I don't care for is #8 It's A Fine Day - Miss Jane. I like the original version better. I am a FIRM believer that it's impossible to improve on perfection (i.e. almost ALL movie "sequels" are also worthless).

"Scream For More" by Kate Ryan is FANTASTIC !!! So is the music video! I tend to be VERY CRICAL and SELECTIVE with music. This album actually caused me to do reasearch and learn a few things. Unforgettable! :-)

I expect to treasure this album for a LONG TIME!

Decent selection of music but bad mixing.......2004-08-09

The CD has a good bunch of tracks that are uplifting and very pleasant to listen to. There were a couple of very overused tracks (e.g. tracks 2 and 12... i've heard those songs just flipping through the radio on a Saturday night!) but that doesn't seem to take away from the overall atmosphere the CD produces. I personally enjoyed tracks 6 (Castles in the Sky), 8 (It's A Fine Day), 10 (Can't Keep Me Silent), 11 (Ordinary World), and 14 (On the Beach.)

I have only 2 complaints about the CD. First of all the people who mixed this CD did a CRAPPY job. As Patrick put it, "one track just kind of crashes into the next." I would think that dj's would do a better job at mixing the tracks if their mix was going to be nationally produced and distributed. My other gripe is that the lengths of the songs are just too short. I am a big drum and bass fan and I am used to songs in a mix being 5-7 minutes in length. Perhaps I am just being picky, but I would have preferred to have the songs be longer. These 2 issues is why I gave the CD a 3 star rating.

Bottom line: Aside from the crappy mixing and the length of the tracks, I would still recommend that you purchase the CD.

Best mix of a Trance CD EVER!!.......2004-04-23

This Cd is absolutely excellent. Its great for any party!! A deffenant must hear!

Tired, Old, Not Official in the Least.......2005-06-15

I was so disappointed in this CD. The tracks are mostly all very old, slow, and not a representation of what was really played during the Gay Days weekend at all. In fact, I doubt ANY of this music was played during the events. The DJ, Randy Bettis, didn't even spin any of the events. How can they call this official? If you want a better CD that really represents the music I heard during the weekend, and also was mixed by one of the real Gay Days DJ's, check out Masterbeat's Gay Days compilation.

Best Compliation.......2004-06-13

One of the best CD's ever to get produced. 26 DJ Mixed Tracks on 2 CD's. It definetly followed the footsteps of it's Big Brother "Pure Dance Party". Which is also a good compliation. The tracks on PTP are excellent including... 4 Strings "Let It Rain" Gouryella "Gouryella" Jessy "Look @ME Now" Alice Deejay "Back In My Life" and a whole lot more. Disc 2 has excellent songs as well including... Fragma "Toca's Maricle", Interactive "Forever Young" Mauro Picotto "Komodo" and a whole lot more. I was really impressed with this CD, and I read there coming out with a Pure Trance Party 2 coming July 13, 2004. Can't wait... Maybe it will follow it's 2 brothers "Pure Dance Party" & "Pure Trance Party". Hope this was helpful. Highly Recommended. A Must Buy. "May Trance Live 4Ever in Spirit"

Great CD!!!.......2003-08-21

2 CDs, 26 anthemic trance hits all mixed up so that the energy flows! Too many other CDs put an emphasis on packaging but this CD even though the artwork leaves a lot to be desired is the real deal when it comes to music selection and mixing.

Just picked this up at the store this past week. UBL Music seems to be on the ball lately by releasing double-disc compilations and not filling them up with lots of [stuff] that so many other companies decide to do. I got their PURE DANCE PARTY CD this past winter so I figured this would follow in its footsteps and I was correct! 26 tracks, all mixed, CD1 has newer material and CD2 has some tance classics which I remember from over the past 4 to 5 years. The highlight of this CD is definitely the mixing. It's spot on and the mixes are long like a DJ would do in a club and not just the short 8 beat mixover fade that you hear on too many of these so called "mix CDs." Trackwise there are some heavy hitters on here including 4 Strings "Let It Rain" which is huge on the radio here in L.A., Kira "I'll Be Your Angel" which is really massive in the UK and Gouryella "Gouryella" which is the ultimate trance tune for 2003! On disc 2 classics like Fragma's "Toca's Miracle" and York "On The Beach" are enough to make this an essential CD for any trance lover's collection or a nice introductory piece for someone who wants to buy a solid trance CD with commercial, underground and classics all mixed better than any CD in the market. Highly recommended!

How do you make an anthem-filled dance mix?.......2005-06-14

Begin with the outstanding Angee Blake/David Knapp track with an 8 minute running time, and just keep building the attitude from there. The hardhouse razor n guido mix of Muscles takes things to the next l level. Hex Hector gives Martha Wash a much needed hardhouse/tribal track instead of one of the usual soft house yawners to which her vocals are usually assigned. Plasmic Honey's techno house tracks, both in long form, as well as the brilliant Johnny vicious mix of Veronica in a near 8 minute edit just show how well DJ David Knapp knows how to keep the energy going. Cevin Fisher keeps the party pumpin with some Loleatta sampling, and things finish with more diva tracks, including Funky Green Dogs, Regina Belle, and slowing the pace a bit to end, the Soul Solution mix of Blondie. A perfect party mix. Track times are:

While there are 3 John Blair "Best of NYC" CD's, this First one remains the best. While the hard core will like the later ones, a better song selection, and a better choice of mixes make this the 'John Blair presents...' CD to get.

More Reasons than Knapp!.......2000-07-22

To be honest, the real reason I bought this CD was because a song I wanted was on it called "(You Got Me) Burnin' Up." David LaSalle has been playing it this summer in Ptown at the A-House. What a great song by Cevin Fisher. To my surprise, I really enjoyed all the other dance songs in this collection by DJ David Knapp, considered one of the Top3 DJ's in America. This is music that will get you moving when you feeling low or when it"s dreary outside, or when you're having a party with your friends. Its house, plus light trance. Nothing beats "Muscles" by Club 69, or another favorite "Maria" by Blondie.

Energizing mixture of some house music epics.......2000-05-21

The songs on this compilation are put down beautifully by Knapp, who has an average reign at Roxy; nothing out of the ordinary there though. The cuts are mostly those of the Vasquezian style tribal/house, for the juice heads of the once Factory (now Twilo), roxy, and Cpi's. The songs are all classic and helped to define that beautiful era of progressive house/tribal that we are now enduring.

Knapp was decent throughout. Not bad at all.
