5 out of 5 stars A slow song turned into a club classic.......2007-06-21

When I first listened to the slow version on the American life album, I thought that this was a pretty ballad but I still wasn't crazy about it.
Then I heard this in a dance bar in Chicago and This version sounded like life was put into the song and made it much energetic. I, the next day, went to Virgin Mega store in Chicago to pick up the CD mixes and This was the worth the eight dollars that I plunked down for it. It is still hard to believe that this is Madonna singing this song and it doesn't have the madonna musical stereotype that is displayed on her previous albums.

4 out of 5 stars A Madonna's Profusion.......2007-03-13

This is the third single from American Life album. Here you will find 6 great versions of the song and gets one bonus track of "Nothing Fails" that you can't find in other single. It's really a good choice.

5 out of 5 stars I love this song.......2007-01-16

This is an amazing song. Madonna, the best musical artist, displays her talent in an unassuming way with this electronic/acoustic song. Her voice soars like a torqouise wave over a sunny bleached sandbar. This is a love song at heart, acknowledging people's faults but looking into a spirtual core to find love laying like a seashell being washed against a beach. This is my favorite Madonna song, and the remixes are great. The best is the Blow-Up mix, which uses eastern inspired guitar chords. The rest are good to work out to or party to, the only dud is the Nothing Fails "bonus track." Its okay, but not great. Listen to the original from "American Life" and the blow-up mix, they're great. Madonna's the best. Mirwais is a good producer too.

4 out of 5 stars "LOVE CONFUSION".......2005-10-20

This Madonna track is the best of the American Life album, which was so misjudged during its release.

"Love Profusion" as it appeared on the album, is one of her lyrically-rich songs in two decades. Now, we move to the remixes.

The remix version on the "Remixed and Revisited" is also good but the best remix would have to be the passengerz mix, clocking at 9:00+ minutes. yes, quite long for a good song, and i would have personally asked for an edited remix.

the remixes were somewhat confused on what to do with this beautiful song - eletronic, rock, pop or dance - so they put it all here. it's up to the listener to choose what he wants.

all in all, however, this is a good remix album. not outstanding but not bad. for someone who continue to rule the airwaves for more than 20 years, madonna still spells originality and a breathing manual for music careerism.

long live the queen...

4 out of 5 stars good music, cover from hell.......2004-07-20

ok, here's the deal: the passengerz club mix presented here is the full length version, unlike the one found on the import copies that was sloppily edited. i knew it was edited even before i knew there was a full version because the one on the import faded out too fast in the end and faded out on one speaker before the other. UK singles are so screwed up now. They will sacrifice the integrity of a remix by editing just to make the tracks fit onto their stupid "20 minute" cd rule. The U.S. has been getting the better end of single releases for the American Life project so forget the imports. Secondly, the Ralphi house vocal mix is ALSO here in it's full version, although the edit on the import wasn't as badly done as the passengerz one.
ok, on to the mixes. all of them are good, but the highlights are the blow up mix and craig j's mix! the blow up mix is so cool and craig j's mix caught me by surprise. Madonna has never had a remix like this before. it has elements in it that remind me of music from the 70's. it's very beautiful. The first 4 mixes run well, but the last 3 didn't really impress me as much. They aren't bad, they;re just typical club mixes which kind of get boring after a while. I'm glad the Ralphi big room vox and big room dub sound different to each other. it used to be that a dub version sounded like it's respected remix except with less vocals. Pete's Nothing Fails mix is not as interesting as his house mix was.
now for the artwork. Oh LAWD, what was Kevin Regan thinking?! I am a graphic design student and even I know that this design is WEAK. I, for one, CAN appreciate the idea of having a cover without a picture of the artist, but come on! this is just lousy. I can't believe this is the same KEvin Regan that designed the beautiful covers for the Ray of Light and Music projects. Did he totally lose his sense of design?! The most blatant design error here is the font. Unless done right, letters should almost never be stacked on top of each other vertically like that. It makes readability difficult. The font used is boring as well. Even the font used on the Norhing Really MAtters single was simple, but it worked beautifully, unlike here, which it doesn't. Anyway, I can go on and on about the lousy packaging but i'll just shut up. This is a case where it's really about the music only

4 out of 5 stars "I feel so moved.".......2007-02-21

Madonna's poorly received "American Life" CD yielded only one minor hit - the title track peaked at #37 on Billboard's Hot 100. Nevertheless, several other singles were released. "Nothing Fails" was Madonna's third single from the CD, and it followed "Hollywood" as only the second in Madonna's long career to fail to chart on the Hot 100. What a pity, as "Nothing Fails" is one of the highlights of the "American Life" CD.

The original version of "Nothing Fails" begins with Madonna cooing, "I'm in love with you - you silly thing. Anyone can see." The sentiment is sweet, and it's been suggested that she wrote it about meeting hubby, Guy Ritchie. The song has been compared (somewhat unfavorably) by some people to her earlier "Like a Prayer," mostly because of the choir that kicks in toward the end. On this remix CD, the song has been amped up to appeal to dance clubs. Not surprisingly, "Nothing Fails" hit #1 on the Billboard Dance chart, as well as on the Dance Singles Sales chart.

As usual, Madonna enlists the help of some brilliant remixers, including Peter Rauhofer, Jason Nevins, and Tracy Young. Some of the remixes are definitely successful. Rauhofer's Classic House Mix is a rather straight-forward and faithful remix - it works overall. Jason Nevins' two remixes reconfigure the song more dramatically and therefore are more interesting as well. His Big Room Rock Mix is perhaps the best on the CD, successfully focusing on Madonna's repeated refrain "You're the one." Surprisingly, the only disappointment is Tracy Young's remix - a rather average affair. Unfortunately, all of the remixes really lose the sweetness of the song, which is what made "Nothing Fails" such a good song in the first place. So, although the remixes are generally solid, this CD ends up being an average Madonna release.

As a bonus, the CD includes several remixes of "Nobody Knows Me." The song was released only to clubs, where it peaked at #4 on the Billboard Dance chart. The song is not one of my favorites on the "American Life" CD, and the remixes don't help change that opinion.

4 out of 5 stars Nobody knows me........2006-09-29

I never liked this song, and only bought the cd single for the Nobody knows me remixes.
I am glad that I did, as there are 2 great remixes of the song on this cd single.
They are:
1 Mount Sims Italo Kiss mix.
2 Peter Rauflofers private life part 1.
This cd single is a great buy simply for the Nobody knows me remixes I mentioned, and the Above and Beyond remix is quite good also.
Excellent buy for any Madonna fan.

5 out of 5 stars I don't care what anyone says, I still love this.......2006-06-22

It's so "in" to diss Madonna now, for some reason. It's ridiculous! This site called "Fles Dip: The Anti-Madonna Site" says:
"...I'm sick of the press following every move she makes."
Well, then I guess you'll have to make a hate site for every celebrity, because isn't the press SUPPOSED to follow every move they make? You guys sicken me. You may be "Expressing Yourselves", but don't call M fans hypocrites, because you people are doing it now just because you want to be popular (well, a few hated her from the beginning, but I digress). I'll stop ranting now and move on to the CD:
NOTHING FAILS
1. Peter Rauhofer Classic House Mix (8:24, 11/10): GORGEOUS! Very nice effort, Mr. Rauhofer!
2. Nevins Big Room Rock Mix (6:45, 9/10): I really wanted to give this a 10, but couldn't. A lot of the vocals are left out.
3. Tracy Young Underground Mix (7:29, 9/10): Eh. That's what it is. This is the second-worst Madonna remix by Tracy Young. Her boring, rambling, weird "What It Feels Like for A Girl" remix (club mix) takes 1st place.
4. Nevins Global Dub (7:45, 9/10): Sounds a little repetitive. Sorry, Mr. Nevins. Better luck next time.
5. Jackie's In Love In the Club Mix (7:23, 11/10): Beautiful. The choir breakdown in the middle is so great. Let's hope Ms. Christie gets to come back for a "Confessions" remix!
NOBODY KNOWS ME
6. Peter Rauhofer's Private Life, Pt. 1 (8:08, 11/10): Cool! A tribal extended mix! Why didn't they include Pt. 2?
7. Above & Beyond 12" Mix (8:45, 11/10): In all honesty, this isn't a TRUE 12". 12"s are supposed to be extended mixes. BUT, all terminology aside, this is absolutely wonderful. There's 2 or 3 "breathers" in here that make you feel like you're on a cloud. It's a great mix.
8. Mount Sims Italo Kiss Mix (5:25, 11/10): The best by Matt Sims, SOOO much better than his Old School Mix.
l8r!

4 out of 5 stars Something Fails.......2006-03-31

The third single from the excellent album American Life(no matter what critics and people said) is a really good song(the album version). However, all the remixes here are in my opinion boring and repetitive. the remixes doesn't really suit this beautiful ballad. But it's Nobody Knows me that truly shines in this maxi-single the three versions are really amazing. Buy this single but only for NKM these are the best remixes of any single from American Life.

4 out of 5 stars NOTHING FAILS MADONNA.......2005-10-20

The third single from American Life is reminiscent of Like a Prayer because of its choral refrain. And only one remix version brought out that "glorious" part - Jackie's In Love in the Club Mix." i used to like the other remixes but then i realized they did not include this part. Only the jackie remix did justice to the beauty of the song. this is an injustice. the remixers, who i all admire by the way, could have used that chorus to set it apart from the compelling like a prayer.

nevetheless, despite the years, nothing seems to fail the one and only queen of pop - reinvented or not.

3 out of 5 stars it kinda does..........2005-10-01

As a huge fan I am just annoyed that this is just ordinary. I am not sure that Madonna's voice really suits bangin'house, but most popstars of today think it ok to bung a few dance mixes on a single CD. With that in mind, the classic house mix is great, although it reminds me of the Morales mix of 'Deeper and Deeper' from what....ten years ago??? the 'heavy' rock mix on the ltd ed' ep is far superior and in relation to the the actual song it's derived from, much more real, and, I am sad to say, just better as it keeps the original song structure.
