I bought this one out of curiousity and because I've not been disappointed with any of Jonathan Goldman's CDs' and I have several.

This one is an upbeat, trance dance journey through the chakras. It uses sophisticated electronic arrangements with chants, tones, tuning forks and a bunch of other instruments and effects as it moves through each of the chakras. Each track is about 8 minutes long and the beat picks up as it moves through the disc to peak at the crown. It's a wonderful journey, in some respects tribal, and yet very 'danceable' in the sense that I think it would be perfect for a trance dance, or to turn off the lights and just jump around to. (I mostly play it with the lights off). It's definately not the kind of thing you'd meditate to or use in a traditional way to tone your chakras, it's a dance CD although as I said I think it would be suitable for a (shamanic type) trance dance. That said, I also use it to chill out to late at night... I find it a multi-purpose CD, one that I enjoy very much.

This is a very clever, creative and unique disc and deserves repeated listening. Jonathan Goldman is someone who really knows sound and in particular, sacred sound and I think this disc is a good example of a creative use of the medium. I also highly recommend all of this author's other works.

Chemical Brothers meets Dido.......2004-04-27

Chakradance is a progressive techno album with lush vocal arrangements - I recommend it.

We say: It sounds like The Chemical Brothers met up with a bunch of Tibetan monks and Dido and recorded a CD. We are clueless as to what the ancient Sanskrit phenomenon really means, but ChakraDance is actually pretty cool to listen and chill out to. It has that liquid, dance club vibe that makes you want to break out some glow sticks and wiggle around like a blob of Jell-O.
