very tight.......2005-10-12

A very tight piece of work. I bought this album on the strength of only one song 'N Y Excuse' which I don't normally do, but I'm glad I did. Although 'N Y Excuse' is different to any other track on the album, the rest of the album holds its own and is by no means filler.

My Top Record of 2004.......2005-04-08

I simply can't stop playing it. Unlike anything out there right now, this record will go down in history as the start of something big. Sorry that this review isn't very detailed, but it's taken me several months to stop doing anything other than listen to this record [i.e. type on a computer].

This is the only record on my iPod that has a solid 4-star rating on each track. If you don't get off listening to "NY Excuse" there is something wrong with you. "Accidents and Compliments" just came on right now and from the opening swell of guitars and strings I was instantly moved; this record has not lost any shine after 30+ listens.

Waiting anxiously for them to do a U.S. tour...

I just wanna make clear that soulwax definitely are Belgians.When people think that they're a Swedish band that's an insult to all of the Belgian People.We are proud of the few good rockbands that we have."Any minute now" is a fantastic album by the way if you'd ask me.So I hope that It's now 100 % clear that Soulwax is totally Belgian.

Everyone knows SOULWAX from their wacky "Too Many DJs" mash-up mix CDs, but few know they are actually a more-than-competent ROCK band - they have released two full-length studio album over the years (one even released in the U.S. on Almo Sounds that flopped, too bad, that even contained the original song "Too Many DJs") - trust me, this is good stuff - while flat, tin-eared NY "dance rock" acts like Radio 4 and The Rapure cannot carry a tune to save their lives, SOULWAX shows 'em how its done, liberally mixing up potent doses of stadium rock, electro-clash, and good-old fashion rawk n roll hooks into an addictive brew - again, WHY isn't this CD available in the U.S. yet?! WHY aren't Soulwax on MTV or Rolling Stone? They may be from Sweden, but they put a lot of homegrown bands to shame - peep this now!

This set's title could just as easily refer to Machel Montano's previous imminent crossover from soca ghetto to the glitzier ghetto of international pop stardom. Montano's soca-dance smash hit single "Come Dig It" and the video were all over American charts, dance floors, and the tube when he signed to stateside dance-rap indie label Delicious Vinyl. But Montano failed to come up with another soca-to-pop mixed-breed tune, so this lively mega-talent remains confined to the soca--and reggae--arena. Still, it's a huge territory, and Montano has crafted his own Caribbean crossover--an ultrakickin' amalgam of soca and reggae dancehall style that makes use of the former's irresistible bounce and the latter's martial drum-machine beats, combinations (a.k.a. singer plus rapper duos), and "fast chat" rap style. Montano and Xtatik's intent to fuse soca and reggae is announced at the outset with lead track "Outa Space (UFOs)," which also features reggae's dancehall king, Beenie Man (who scored a soca hit in Trinidad and Tobago during carnival '98). "Big Phat Fish," Montano's dominator during that same carnival, is here, as is another soca-dancehall combination with reggae "don" Red Rat. Jamaica's late, great prime minister Michael Manley and T&T's late PM, Eric Williams, were lifelong advocates of economic cooperation among the Caribbean nations. i have 1 favorite rapper which is jay-z i have one favorite reggea singer which is Culture B.I have one great favorite soca singer and it is machel montano.i think machel is the best soca artist of all time. i loved any minute now and i loved charge.no other way to descibe machel but one hot trini artist.

Machel Montano has gone from child star to one of the most consistent and innovative soca artists in Trinidad today. This CD, their 1999 offering, contains many of the fast paced 'jams' that fans have gotten used to. One standout, that doesn't get mentioned as much as the larger hits (Powder Puff, UFO, Big Phat Fish, We Sound etc,) is a ragga inflected cover of U2's "With or Without You".
