5 out of 5 stars good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27

We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.

5 out of 5 stars memories.......2007-02-22

This cd is excellent it has a lot of very good music and true to the original sound, Am getting a lot of enjoyment, highly recomended

5 out of 5 stars TV Theme Songs.......2007-01-13

This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.

3 out of 5 stars TV themes.......2006-07-05

Not all what I expected, not all of the tunes are the original recordings you remember as the TV themes.

5 out of 5 stars Deja Vu.......2006-02-17

Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

Takes you back. One of the best artist's of the period. V. Good collection!

5 out of 5 stars The voice of Apollo.......2007-02-28

I was completely knocked out by the sweet Soul tenor voice of Alexander O'Neal. What a voice! Songs like "Fake" and "If You Were Here Tonight" were amongst my favourites from the late 1980s. His voice could be compared to that of the older, and sadly missed, Luther Vandross. There just aren't any Soul voices like this around anymore, or, if there are, I haven't heard of them.

Many will know that the great musicians and producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, were responsible for the instrumental accompaniment of Mr. O'Neal, and their work with him was excellent, of course.

There isn't a lot I can add to the other enthusiastic reviews of this CD, other than to say that Mr. O'Neal had devoted fans even in Australia.

5 out of 5 stars Alexander O'Neal Neal at His Best.......2007-02-23

This is the most comprehensive compilation of Alexander O'Neal to date of which I am aware. I own "The Best of Alexander O'Neal" however, this cd chronicles his latter hits up to "What Is This Thing Called Love?". This was definitely a good investment!

5 out of 5 stars Uhhhhh....Alex...........2007-02-22

Alex is my all time favorite singer. I know there is Marvin and all the old school classics, but, Alex...I love this man. Saw him twice in concert. The first time when he toured w/ Cherrelle and I got to go up on stage with him! (Got to the 2nd time, too, but who's braggin?) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HIM! I see people list there favorite songs, but they are all my favorites, honestly. I can't pick one or two or three! If you want the ultimate throw back to the early 90's R&B, this album is for you. Personally, this album is OK, but I found a different Alexander O'Neal Greatest Hits CD that has every single one of his songs. I still have it and have to burn it for alot of people, can't find it anywhere else on internet. Too bad for all yall!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2006-12-22

This is what good music sounds like. I miss his voice on the radio.

5 out of 5 stars Should Be Selling For A Lot More.......2006-08-11

I grew up listening to Alexander O'Neal and have every single CD he has created. If some of you old-timers didn't know, Alexander use to be with the band called the "Majestics". Not sure how it happened but he left and Morris Day took over the band and was then called "Morris Day and the Time". Alexander's singing can be compared to Luther Vandross but with more funk.

5 out of 5 stars At long last. The REAL best of O'Neil!.......2005-03-21

This record is a great one.Short, sweet, soulful perfection.I owned 2 back in 1985.One for the house and one for the car.The singing is fantastic. The production is top notch.Easily Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam's artistic zenith.Folks that know this album were over joyed when it finally showed up on CD.We had to make do with the Best Of record which was in reality pretty good but nothing of Alexender's in MHO can touch this perfect SOUL session from 20 years ago.

5 out of 5 stars Believe the "Hearsay".......2006-01-22

Smooth, sultry and sharp is the three "S's" to describe Mr. Alexander O'Neal. Way before Keith Sweat, Brian McKnight and R. Kelly, Alexander O'Neal was the romantic crooner of his time. With a smooth, though forceful approach, Mr. O'Neal's voice can make me drop everything and take notice, his voice is that captivating. With the help of musical geniuses (and two sickingly great men who can turn ANYTHING into a hit) Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Alexander O'Neal crafted this musical masterpiece back in 1986. "Hearsay" is a journey in it self, from slick funk grooves to heart on sleeve balladry, the album follows Alex through the joys and pain of love.
The start of "Hearsay" has party sounds and voices, much to the likings of Marvin Gaye's tunes. It starts off the album in a "this album is going to blow your mind" type of vibe. It builds you into what is to come next. And that something is "What Can I Do (To Make You Love Me)". In three words: Funky, funky, funky!
"The Lovers" is THE ultimate expressway crusing song. I have pledged to myself that when I get my first car, I'm going to pop this in when I graze my city's skyline. The thundering keyboards, forceful syncopated vocals and tight drum beats make you feel the love, for real. Soulful and empowering is the title track, as Alex shows his impressive vocal range. The biggest hit off of here, "Fake" is a snarky, snappy and down right funky tune about a girl who is well...fake! Hilarious lyrics and jamming keyboards make you understand why this song was such a huge hit. The next hit, "Critize" features some funny dialouge and the beautiful backing vocals of Lisa Keith. I like how Alex and her trade off vocals, nicely done. This song is a pulsating piece of pre-New Jack heaven. My girl, Cherrelle (I LOVE this woman, when I listen to her I wonder how in the hell did she not become a bigger success!) shows up on "Never Knew Love Like This". I always enjoy when Alex and Cherrelle duet cause they always sound so passionate. A soulful gospel-esqe tune awaits your ears! "Sunshine" is nothing but gorgeous as it is a beautiful yet dark ballad. It mesmerizes you from the start and has Alex really belting it out. "Crying Overtime" sounds like a precursor to some stuff that Boyz II Men would do later in the 90's, it really sounds like "On Bended Knee" (which Jam and Lewis wrote). It's a lush, heart on sleeve tune and once again Alex does it justice with his voice. "When The Party's Over" is cool and sultry and is a perfect way to end this fantastic album.
It's truly a shame that this album has mostly been negelected as much as Alexander himself. I just don't understand how Alexander and Cherrelle were shut out of the music business! Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have done their best work with them and I understand that there is such a thing as "The Janet Jackson Factor". I'm a fan of Janet too, but since I've dug deeper in the Jam and Lewis catalog and un-earthed Cherrelle and Alex, I've come to believe that the only reason why Janet became such a star was because of well...being Michael's little sister. Not that her music wasn't good (her music is good, no doubt-she has talent) but if you pair her stuff with Cherrelle's and Alexander's it pales in comparison. I usually tend to push "Control" aside to make way for "Hearsay" and Cherrelle's "Affair". And I'm being truthful.
After "Hearsay", Alexander never achieved much star power even though he did guest star on Cherrelle's 1988 masterpiece "Affair". And I never can understand why? Maybe he was overshadowed by Luther Vandross, who had really began to become huge with his hit "Here and Now"? Or maybe people were moving into a more hip-hop state of mind at this time? I have no idea why Alexander O'Neal became a music casuality. I know he still performs and has released some albums after this but he now resides in England and performs mostly there. How I wish he would come back and show some of these young R&B crooners how to really sing! Get "Hearsay" to hear a SINGER and get caught up in the funky jamming sounds of Jam and Lewis, especially since it's been digitally remastered in all it's glory. You will not be dissapointed!

5 out of 5 stars An R&B masterpiece.......2005-11-30

This is by far Alexander O'neals best album ever. This album is in my all time Top 3 best 80s R&B albums ever made. From start to finish this album will keep you moving. I have had a copy for many years now and it has never gotten old. Good music never gets old. It only gets better with time. I recommend anyone to check it out. From the moment you listen to the sweet beginning of "(What can I say) to make you love me", you won't be able to stop listening to the music until you get to the end. Man, what happen to that sweet Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis 80s pop sound. I guess it is just memories now.
Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars "Shame" this album is not better known............2005-03-01

I actually like this album better than (the better known) "Hearsay". Weirdly enough the faster songs at the beginning are just filler and in contrast, the slow songs at the end are absolutely killer, priceless material.

In particular the run from track 7 ('All True Man") to track 12 at the end "Shame") is damn near ecstasy. The oncomparable production team of Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis and Alex push each other to supreme heights. Jam/Lewis provide the musical contexts and Alex finds peerless heights of subtlety in his singing. My God: so many "hairs rising on the back of the your moments" here!

If you think soul singing is about belting and yelling, this portion of the album will come as a earning experience. It is a nothing short of a singing masterclass, wringing maximum impact while maintaining supreme control. The wannabe R&B singers and Christina Aguileras of the world should be given this album as mandatory homework to study and learn from!

At the end, Jimmy Jam provides some absolutely sick bass for an increasingly slow that he and Alex use to close out the album incredibly.

Superb handwork on this album. Simply superb. When it ends you feel like you were at a concert and you don't want to go home! Luckily modern technology gives us "repeat" and "A-B repeat", so instead of clapping for an encore, you can just make the CD keep crooning to you over and over:
"do it again, its a shame on me
shame, shame,
shame, shame,
shame, shame, shame, shhhaaaaame,
do it again, its a shame on me.......

5 out of 5 stars Wrongfully Overlooked !.......2004-09-23

Vastly underrated here in the US but well worth it's weight in gold ! I've owned this copy on all 3 formats (vinyl,cassette,cd)...As a vinyl junkie, the tracks sound more natural and warm (not as digitized as on cd---another debate for another time). If anything, All True Man served as the apex or zenith for his other 2 previous albums...Listening to all 3 of them; they are like the O'Neal, Jam & Lewis production trilogy!Classic clean R&B funk and soul from 91...Maybe it is a late entry and did not succumb to the popular sounds of jack swing and other sub-genres of the early 90's. I would rather have this R&B type of music than anything else that did NOT age well ! Out of the first three O'Neal projects this is his polished one---minus the blockbuster hits contained on Hearsay...still good stuff. VERY good stuff !

5 out of 5 stars All True Album.......2004-03-18

People only think of Alexander O'Neal for his first two albums, the self titled debut & the big selling "Hearsay".
Alex came back in 1991 with "All True Man" - his last great album in my opinion.
The album went to number one in its first week in the uk, but failed to have the staying power that his previous 2 did.
The trouble with this album was the timing. In a time where rap & new jack swing were coming to the forefront of black music "All True Man" failed to go with that.

But this album is truly magnificant. "Time Is Running Out" is a storming track which is fresh & funky. "The Yoke" is equally funky, and although a lengthy track, you won't be able to stop yourself dancing to the beat.
"Everytime I get up" is some of the best work Alex has done in his long career. It a song which if released I'm sure would have been a big his. A truly great song.
The album does have its dour moments and these are tracks 4 & 5 - "Somebody changed your mind" & "Midnight run"
But from then on the rest of the set is just breathtaking.
"Used" is produced by Jellybean Johnson whom alex worked with on his biggest hit "Criticize". Heavy guitar riff's with alex's sweet soulful voice just equal perfection.
"Sentimental" is a tad slushy - but its the voice that alex posesses that really chills the soul.
"What Is this Thing Called love" is a throwback to great tracks from Hearsay, such as "What Can I say". Should have been a bigger hit.
The title track "All True Man" still remains a big inclusion in Mr O'Neal's live show. I've been to see him about 7 or 8 times, and this one is always included. Being only 19, Alex & has music I have always loved - this album is no exception.
"Hang On" & "The Morning After" are two sweet soul track. You can feel the sex in "The Morning After" - its appeal is wide.
"Shame" is the final track and maybe the best on here. An acoustic feel with some touching lyrics mixed with Alex's gritty soul voice.

I urge you to buy the most underrated soul album of any time - ever.

Superb

3 out of 5 stars The "tank" is half FULL!.......2003-10-06

During the 80's the "Minneapolis Sound" was all over the place. Prince, The Time, Cherelle, and Alexander O'Neal had hit after hit. Behind many of the tunes made by the latter two was the creative team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, members of The Time, themselves. Jam and Lewis had scored big with Janet Jackson's "Control" LP, as well as having produced hits for Herb Alpert, Human League, and The SOS Band.

Working with O'Neal on his earlier hit LP "Hearsay", the pair served as excutive producers on "All True Man". "Hearsay" benefited from a consistency of purpose as each song made perfect lyrical and thematic segues from one track to the next.

"All True Man", while easy to listen to, suffers from being about "half empty". The first six cuts seem to be "B" side material.

The album comes alive with the title cut at number seven and the strongest tracks to follow: "Sentimental", "What is This Thing Called Love?" and the two-shot knockouts "The Morning After" and "Hang On". The final track, "Shame" is an appropriate finale.

If the songwriting/producing team had made this one an "EP" containing only the final six, then one of the early 90's most outstanding R & B albums would've been created.

5 out of 5 stars opinion.......2003-04-06

my opinion is that its one of the greatest album to come out to this day ,and he dont even get reconizized for it . i,m talking about off the the chain.

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad an album as some would have you believe........2005-09-17

This was not Alexander O'Neal's best or most ambitious album but it was much better than most of the R&B CDs of its time. The various producers he worked with gave him some first-rate material and he superbly covers everything from hard-hitting funk to sexy and seductive Quiet Storm ballads. All in all, "Lovers Again" is not O'Neal's most prolific album but (still) no fan of his should pass it up, either.

5 out of 5 stars Alexander O'Neal in the House.......2003-05-16

1996, 5 years after the chart topping "All True Man" album, 3 years after the dissapointment of the "Love Makes No Sense" album, Alexander O'Neal is back with his Fifth proper album. And he does not dissapoint.
Most people know him from the days of the song "Criticize" and when he sold out 8 consecutive nights at wembley.
This album was his lastest set in 1996.

Track 1
Do You Right
Alexander O'Neal at his funkiest. Keeping along the same lines as the hits "Criticize" and "Fake" , this song is the best on the album. Its soulful funk and its outstanding.

Track 2
Lets Get Together
Mellows a little, but still keeps slightly upbeat. Its a nice song, not the stongest lyrically but Alex delivers it well.

Track 3
Lovers Again
The title track and basically a love song. "We've been through good and bad times, had our cloudy days". Alex keeps it real and keeps that element of love goings strong.

Track 4
Can You stand the Rain
In my opinion this is the albums weakest track. But when Alex gets his voice on any track, it can't be that bad!

Track 5
Baby Come to me (duet with Cherelle)
After the top 10 hit in 1985 with "Saturday Love" when he first teamed up with Cherelle, Alex once again does a duet. This time around its a cover. Nothing spectacular but a good cover.

Track 6
No One But You
A storming track. Funky but a real love song. Alex just knows how to please the women - and this certainly will.

Track 7
Body Talkin'

Like track six alex mixes his funk soul style with lyrics to melt most girls hearts.

Track 8
More Than My Heart Can Stand
Love your girl? Broke up with her? Want her back? This song has all these emotions. Real soul music.

Track 9
Carry On
Sounds a bit like Boyz II Men "End Of The Road". Can't fault it too much but one of the lesser tracks on this album.

Track 10
Sneakin'
Alex takes a change from his normal side and gets down with some new style RnB. Hes on the same level here as the like of R Kelly. This song really does testement to his vocal ability

Track 11
Sleepin
Like the previous track its some rouch edged RnB with a real sexual theme. Its Alexander O'Neal in a nutshell

Track 12
Our Love
Along the same lines of track 2. Its a nicely put together song but a bit too corny for my liking.

Track 13
Grind
Excellent. Should have been a single here. Its top quality RnB/Soul and its vocally his best song on the album.

Overall
Its just Alexander O'Neal doing his Thang in a way he can only do.
Yes Luther is good and has had his hits. But Love Soul is Alex's department

I purchased this cd because I miss Alexander O'Neal, and I'm annoyed that I can no longer get the All True Man cd. (Mine was stolen during a move) Anyway, I purchased this one but it does not make the grade. Alex, Jam and Lewis need to make amends or do whatever is necessary to bring this talent back. He was to make a severe mark on the industry when the NY Times wrote an outstanding write for his work on the All True Man cd. Jam and Lewis was onto something but whatever the situation was, they let him go. Hey Amazon, why don't you try and get this cd for us?

4 out of 5 stars Great dance mixes without losing the original song!.......2005-10-25

At the time this release came out "remixing" still meant "mixing something over" rather than "overhauling" it, however this album came out at a time when the art of remixing was beginning to mutate into overhauling. Such complete "overhauling" of a song's music tracks, once a very rare occurence was beginning to become less rare at leaps and bounds. Such songs to receive a complete overhauling were Natalie Cole's cover of Bruce Springsteen's Pink Cadillac which was remixed by Robert Clivilles and David Cole; and Pseudo Echo's Lipps Inc. cover, Funky Town.

Now for Alexander's All Mixed Up. For the most part, many of the songs are "Spiced Up" but still the original song is mostly intact, with the exception of the Ben Liebrand remix of Criticize. Now some mixes are labeled as House but I have to disagree. At the time of this album's release, House music was very heavy in the R&B feel with thick rolling basslines and Bluesy piano riffs, and thick percussion, not merely the standard 4/4 beat.

Here is a song by song commentary:

1 - Fake 88 (House Mix)
I would not consider this a "House" mix but rather a dance or club mix. Though it has a 4/4 beat and a thumping bassline - that was reminiscent of Nia Peeble's song Trouble - it did not have blusey piano that was so or the thick percussion. A lot of the original funk sound is still present in this mix and I like the restructuring, not to long of an intro and a simple but very fun breakdown in the middle.

2 - (What Can I Say) To Make You Love Me (Hateful Club Remix)
This mix finds this song getting something like what I would call a Hi-NRG mix, with it's synth bassline. Again, a lot of the original elements are still there but this mix sports the 4/4 beat and a smooth percussive flow. Again, nothing redundant about the intro or the breakdown in the middle.

3 - Never Knew Love Like This (Extended Version)
This song is very reminiscent of the S.O.S Band's later material. The S.O.S. Band's song called The Finest definitely comes to mind when I hear this. As for the remix factor, this is an extended version of the original with no additional production. However, there was a 12" release for this song and it had a different mix that had a different bassline.

4 - Criticize (Ben Liebrand Remix)
Now THIS can be called a House Mix as Ben Liebrand followed the House mix formula to it's fullest. This song is Bass heavy, with it's bass drum dominated percussion and the trademark rolling bassline and semi-bluesy piano rifts. Now another element of early House music was a vocal sample, or several vocal samples, peppered throughout the mix. The vocal samples did not have to relate to the lyrical content of the song, it was just for effect. What Liebrand does here is use the vocal track of a nitty, nasally sounding woman's critical remarks such as "her dress is as tacky as your suit" or "Alex baby wait for me" throughout the mix giving it a little humor. However, this mix is a perfect of an early house-style mix. As for my liking, I actually like the original 12" remix better.

5 - The Lovers (Extended Version)
Another S.O.S. Band type song in extended form perhaps with some extra sounds.

6 - Criticize ( Remix)
This version is the 12" remix that came out originally. This is an extended remix with perhaps a little additional production but, for the most part it is the Hearsay LP version in extended form. Nice intro and middle interludes, no complete breakdowns are in this mix. I love the jazzy little part in this song somewhere past the middle point. It sort of reminds me of the video remix of Janet Jackson's Contorl where there was a jam section in the middle. This is the version of choice for my tastes.

7 - What Can I Say To Make You Love Me (Ben Liebrand Remix)
For this mix, Ben Lieband choses to follow the original LP version with minimal additional production. He adds a horn to his mix to give it a little jazzy feel. He also adds some vocal samples such as a woman's "I Love You" and also GQ's Disco Nights "Rock Freak". When this song first comes on, it sounds like Fake with an almost identical percussion.

8 - Fake (Extended Version)
This is the original 12" version of this song in extended form. There is no extra production. I like the "House" mix better.

9 - You Were Meant To Be My Lady (88 Keith Cohen Extended Remix).
I was never familiar with this song so I don't know how much altering occured. This song is R&B/Funk.

10 - Innocent (Keith Cohen House Mix)
Again, I don't agree with this being a House mix. This reminds me more of Morris Day & The Time crossed with Cherrelle's "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On." It has a 4/4 beat but no rolling bassline, no piano riffs, no thick percussion. Nonetheless, it is a fitting dance remix that works well with the song's rock and funk elements.

All in all, I enjoy this album event though I do hear a three songs twice, however, their variations make them as if I am listening to two different songs. What is great about this is that the Artist's and Producer's work is not completely lost in the translation as is the case nowadays. I actually liked remixing from yesteryear for this reason, however, I do not totally write off remixes of today, as sometimes a song sounds great in a different genre that I may have never though it would.

5 out of 5 stars He's all good.......2004-01-15

Alexander O'Neal is so good. He's got the voice, he's got the songs, he's got the beats. He gives you all in all in good music. Here you have his biggest hits remixed by great producers like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and the remixes are not repetetive or boring at all. Very good and dancey new ways to known songs like Fake & Criticize.

4 out of 5 stars Remixes of O'Neal's mid-80's hits.......2003-12-26

Alexander O'Neal should've ascended to the heights of Luther, Peabo, and Freddie. Possessing a much better voice than others that ruled the charts in the 80's, O'Neal did score with some solo tracks as well as duets with Cherrelle. Their pairing is represented here with an extended version of the hit "Never New Love Like This".

This compilation is basically an extension of "Hearsay", the singer's second album. The remixes, done by such stalwart mixers as Jellybean Johnson, Ben Liebrand, Keith Cohen, and Louis Silas, Jr., offer great production and slamming bass lines, reminiscent of the times.

The practice of remix albums was in its infancy at the time of this album's release; this certainly stands as a worthwhile "experiment".

4 out of 5 stars The Saga Continues..........2004-11-06

What can I say about ol' Alex? Well, he's still one of my favorite singers, but this disc shows that his voice has lost some of it's luster, but not all of it!! He's sounds more gritty and growly these days, but somehow it works here. Although it's not filled with his usual smooth R&B grooves, there are moments (like on MY BABY'S GONE, MARRIED MAN and IT'S OKAY) that remind you of the O'Neal swagger and suaveness from years ago.

With the faster tracks (like HE SAID, SHE SAID, which sounds alot like an N'Sync cut) he seems to show that he can flow with the times, but still bring the soul and southern charm needed to make sense of it all. He's definitely done better albums in the past, but this one is very lsitenable with tracks like the aforementioned IT'S OKAY, MARRIED MAN, MY BABY'S GONE, and WHAT IS A MAN? to keep the CD in rotation in your player.

4 out of 5 stars The Saga Continues for Alex.......2004-03-18

The latest offering from the big soul man. Saga Of A Married man is a story which takes us through the trials and tribulations that a married man goes through. Well, some go through!

O'Neal in my opinion has been very underrated in the last 10 years and has never found the success that he had with his first three albums.
He started in 1985 and this album was released in 2002. The question is - can he still deliver an album to compete with other soul acts today?
I strongly believe he can.

Although this album will never be promoted well enough for it to have any chart sucess, it still a very good effort which further more cements Alexander O'Neal in the top 10 sould artists of all time.

Track 1
He Said She Said
If you've heard other O'Neal albums the you will have a fair idea of his familar sound. But there is a change here. This opening track said to me the moment I heard it -"i'm back but lets change the style a little"
Which is needed in todays music climate.

Great track which really sets the mood.

Track 2
Your Gonna Miss Me
This was to my knowledge, the only single released from this album. This track has the most funk edge on the album, and Alex is following his same formular in telling a woman what he thinks.

Track 3
I'm There
Alex really gets that angry tone which he delivered in the top 4 hit "Criticize" back in the 80's. At the end of this song he actually slips in a lyric or two from some of his past hits. But you need to listen carefully.
Funked up soul from Mr O'Neal

Tracl 4
My Baby's Gone
Hmmm ok well we know Alex likes his heartful soul tracks, but this one is a little too corny for my liking! The Chorus of "My Baby's gone, she could stay faithful" just really doesn't do it for me! But his voice once again is immpecable.

Track 5
It Don't Matter
A bit of pop soul here with a catchy chorus mixed with the voice means a big thumbs up to this track

Track 6
Its Ok
Well acually I don't think it is ok! I believe this to be the weakest song on the album. One of those album fillers!

Track 7
What You See Is What you Get
This isn't a song, just a 10 second or so interlude with Alex arguing with a woman over the fact that shes giving him greif although she has been made aware that he is a Married man!

Track 8
Married Man
When listening to this song I think there is a real indication of how Alex has mmade changes to his style and belts out a song that if done by R Kelly, would be a smash hit.

Track 9
What Is A Man
My personal favourite from this album. When people say soul music has no message I disagree. And this song is an indication of that. A beautiful song which oozes soul and has a real personal edge from the big man.

Track 10
Last Night
Superb! I love it! Once again its true Alexander O'Neal style.
Soul music with a firey edge.
You've caught your woman with your best freind. So what is better than to sing a song which just vents your anger at them both. Excellent.

Track 11
Happy Home
A very touching song to end this album .
After all the things that Alex and his woman have been through in this album he wants his wife back. And says make me a happy home.
And they all live happily ever after!

Overall - A great album which is a tribute to real music from the Soul.
Its never going to be a good as his first self titled album or the follow up smash hit "Hearsay" because although this is a very good album they were great great albums.
If you have heard O'Neals othere material then I advise you to get this album. Its O'Neal at his best.
If your married - get this album. It may come in handy!

Alexander O'Neal - the underrated legend of Soul Music.

1 out of 5 stars Where's Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis?.......2003-09-10

This CD is a classic example of how producers, writers and arrangers are important to an artist no matter how great. I feel Alexander is in the top 10 greatest male vocalist of R&B music, but this effort [is weak] to say the least. Its like Michael Jackson without Quincy Jones. Those of you who follow music can attest to the fact that Michael's albums [were weak] after Quincy stopped producing and arranging them. So has Alexander O'Neil without Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Buyers beware on this one. A much better purchase would be the remastered 24 bit CDs of Alexander O'Neil which were produced by JJ and TL. The remastering really improved these disc sonically.

2 out of 5 stars Alex in a confused place..........2007-04-18

What a change a decade makes. On one hand you have Jam and Lewis, tied up with Janet, allow a grab bag of Teddy Riley wannabes to bury O'Neal's husky voice in a soup of hip-hop beats and samples. Its easy to see why why the title track was released first; its the only song where he sounds comfortable, relaxed, and unforced. The rest of the disc suffers from a musical conflict of interest. To put it another way: New Jack Swing and Southern Soul don't really belong on the same record. It just messes up the flow. 'All that Matters' and 'Since I've been loving you' both sound like they belong on a Latimore record, while 'Aphrodisia' is a thinly veiled take on Marvin Gaye that falls flat on its face. How 'Your Precious Love' made the album is anyone's guess, just a terrible recording. Alex must've been spending time in his hometown of Natchez, MS when he recorded this...because it sounds like Open Mic night at Johnny's Rib Shack! Funny thing is that I actually like Southern Soul as long as its not cross-pollinated with other styles of music, which is exactly what the producers did on this record. Big mistake. Still, this disc isn't as bad as Michael Jackson's 'Blood on the Dance Floor' record.

5 out of 5 stars This album will last!.......2005-09-20

I've had this CD back in 1994 and I loved it. But, you know, I lost it somewhere. I was working as a DJ in radio, probably there:-) BUT, I've ordered this album couple weeks ago from somebody here and this album is still great. First two song are great R'n'B stuff, even 13 years old sounds very up to date, same as track 3 and track 4 which is very sensual. Tracks 5, 6 and 7 are very nice smooth ballads. Tracks 8 and 9 are in very uplifting mood even though they don't fit to the rest of the CD. If you're looking for a really good CD from Alexander grab this one, don't wait!

5 out of 5 stars His classic hits........2007-01-08

I've always been a big Alexander O'Neal fan. His vocal roots undoubtedly lie deep in the tradition of such legends as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Teddy Pendergrass--and he makes no secret of it. This compilation, while not definitive, will give the uninitiated and/or anyone just looking for the major hits a good idea of how immense this man's talent is. One of the few truly great male R&B vocalists to have emerged during the 1980s.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!!!.......2003-10-21

This is a wonderful album every song on here is great whoever doesn't give this album five stars obviously there has to something wrong with you because every single track on this album is a good song and Alexander sings exceptionally well and I love all of his duets with Cherelle and he and Cherelle sing very well together and I especially love "Saturday Love" that is one of my all-time favorite slow jams !!!! My favorites are:
If you were here tonight, fake, Sunshine, Saturday Love, Innocent and many more this is a great album to have whomever buys this album should also buy all of Cherelle's albums also they sing and sound magnificent together!!!!

This is yet another CD the stores just don't seem to have. Tjis album is absolutely beautiful. "Sunshine" is my favorite. He has some really pretty songs on this CD. Buy the CD!!! I am not the type of girl that will waste money on a not so hot CD. This is well worth the money spent!I chase music from the 80's and spent a good bit on them each. This is psssssssssssssssssssssst HOT!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2002-04-12

It's such a shame that a great American R&B singer had to leave the country to make it big. He's the Luther of London. He is currently on tour and still packin' the houses. Many of his earlier works are out of print but I suggest you buy this one before it goes away...like "All True Man" and "Hearsay" Especially those of you who are too young to remember "If you were here tonight"!
